Setup process was easy and quick and offers good protection for personal use
Pros and Cons
  • "I like real-time mobile protection. It's quite easy to use and efficient."
  • "There is room for improvement in terms of stability."

What is our primary use case?

I use it for protection, antivirus, anti-phishing, and support.

What is most valuable?

I like real-time mobile protection. It's quite easy to use and efficient.

It's a good protection. I use it personally, so for this kind of first level of protection, it's okay. For the usage that I have. It's okay.

What needs improvement?

I would consider additional measures if I needed a higher level of protection, such as implementing more firewalls and other security measures.

But this kind of first level of protection, it's okay.

However, there is room for improvement in terms of stability.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this product for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's stable. I would rate the stability an eight out of ten because there is always room to improve.

It is a scalable solution. I use it personally.

The license fees are reasonable. It is a yearly licensing fee.

There are no additional costs to the standard licensing fees.

An antivirus solution for prevention against malware

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to prevent getting the infected links.

What is most valuable?

The interface is good. McAfee MOVE AntiVirus has protected my devices from malware in the past year, even when accessing vulnerable software.

What needs improvement?

The pricing and renewal process for McAfee MOVE AntiVirus could be more smoother. When I use multiple accounts, often from my Postgres PC, the licensing is capped to one specific account, preventing me from utilizing it with other accounts under the same installation. This necessitates constant switching between accounts, which can be unreliable even when I've paid for the subscription.

Additionally, the lack of multi-year subscription options makes it inconvenient, as renewing annually might be forgettable. Overall, automation and simplifying renewals and technical support could be done.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using McAfee MOVE AntiVirus for around a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

One person is using this solution.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is not good. I tried logging in from a different account with my laptop and re-changed the ID. It still shows me that the subscription was not renewed even after I continued. I emailed them a couple of times, but they never followed up.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is not expensive, but they should make it easier for long-term renewal pricing. It comes with a yearly subscription.

I rate the product’s pricing a seven out of ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

The solution doesn't require any maintenance.

Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

The solution protects the PC from malware attacks, but sometimes it slows down the computer a little bit
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution protects the PC from malware attacks."
  • "The tool slows down the computer a little bit sometimes."

What is our primary use case?

The solution protects the PC from malware attacks. It scans for viruses. It also warns me if a link appears to be fraudulent.

What is most valuable?

The core product is good.

What needs improvement?

The vendor is very pushy on some of the partner products. If we have McAfee installed, the search engine in my browser automatically becomes Yahoo, which I do not want. Every time, I need to change it back. The moment McAfee starts, it resets to Yahoo. It’s really a pain. I never asked for Yahoo to be my default search engine.

The product must stop pushing the wrong sort of upgrades all the time. They keep doing commercial upsells and partner promotions. The tool slows down the computer a little bit sometimes.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for the last four to five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s stability a nine out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

In the past, I've used Norton. It is good. There isn't much difference between McAfee and Norton.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

I can do the deployment myself. I just need to install it on my PC.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is affordable. The license fee can be paid yearly.

What other advice do I have?

I might recommend the product to others. Overall, I rate the product a six out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Effortless implementation, highly compatible, and priced well
Pros and Cons
  • "The most beneficial aspect of McAfee MOVE AntiVirus is its compatibility. I have heard from friends that it is more adaptable than other antivirus programs, particularly for those using different operating systems, such as Mac OS. This cross-platform compatibility is a valuable feature of McAfee MOVE AntiVirus."
  • "The user interface of McAfee MOVE AntiVirus could benefit from some improvements. The excessive pop-ups can be bothersome, particularly when sharing my screen online, as I often get interrupted by the notifications. While I understand there is an option to disable these pop-ups, I feel that it should be disabled by default. Although I appreciate the overall design of the graphical user interface, the constant interruptions detract from the user experience."

What is our primary use case?

I utilize McAfee MOVE AntiVirus as a safeguard against harmful websites, which includes a web advisor feature that notifies me of potentially dangerous sites when I go online. This helps me determine whether or not to visit a particular website. In addition, I can perform a full computer scan if needed, and McAfee is also capable of scanning external devices such as USBs when connected to my computer.

I am using this solution for personal use.

What is most valuable?

The most beneficial aspect of McAfee MOVE AntiVirus is its compatibility. For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using McAfee MOVE AntiVirus for approximately five years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used another similar solution prior to McAfee MOVE AntiVirus.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up McAfee MOVE AntiVirus was simple. Once I purchased the solution and obtained the license key, all I had to do was download the software and enter the license key to complete the setup process. Overall, I found the setup to be quick and effortless. The length of time it takes to complete the implementation depends on the internet speed but if you have a fast download it can be done in five minutes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have a student discount from McAfee MOVE AntiVirus. I paid approximately $16.00 for three years.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise others to keep track of when their solution expires. It is important to keep your solution up to date. If it is not up to date you can be vulnerable to threats, such as spyware.

I rate McAfee MOVE AntiVirus a nine out of ten.

Good for protection but causes lag in the system
Pros and Cons
  • "It's valuable for protection and internet safety."
  • "One problem is that when you switch on the system, Windows 10 takes almost two to three minutes to get initiated and then McAfee adds on to it because it starts scanning automatically."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case is for protection of personal information and internet safety. This is an individual system, so I'm the only one who uses it.

What is most valuable?

It's valuable for protection and internet safety.

What needs improvement?

The system could perform better and faster. The latest Windows, like 10 and 11, have the internal defenders available in the setup itself. It was pre-installed and it was available with the package itself. I didn't have to pay anything separately for that, so that's why I'm just keeping it as it is. Another problem is I can't delete it or I can only disable it, so when the self protective system is already in place, I don't think an additional antivirus is needed.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using McAfee MOVE AntiVirus since 2020. It was pre-installed, so it was with the package of Windows 10.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

One problem is that when you switch on the system, Windows 10 takes almost two to three minutes to get initiated and then McAfee adds on to it because it starts scanning automatically. You need to manually pause it because it slows down the system drastically. As a combination with Windows 10, McAfee makes the system a lot slower.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

With our company laptops, everything is pre-installed, and I think they are using Quick Heal in office. It's better because I don't get any popups or scanning messages. It sends the details to the respective department and they take the call, so I don't need to intervene in anything. Every two weeks or twice in a month, all the upgrades get notified. As upgrades get notified, I keep doing the updates for the office. It automatically gets updated for Windows 10.

How was the initial setup?

I didn't have to do any installation. It came with a package, so everything was pre-installed in the system.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

For McAfee, I think it's already paid until 2023 because it's added on with the Windows 10 license pricing from Dell. I had to pay for it on the Dell website, which includes the licensing cost of Windows 10 and McAfee.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution 5 out of 10 because of the lag that it produces in the system. As soon as you switch it on, it takes four to five minutes in addition to the lag Windows 10 causes due to the size of the operating system. With respect to protection it's fine, but with respect to the delay of speed, it's much slower.

I wouldn't recommend McAfee Move Antivirus for Windows 10. It has a self-defense mechanism available in the processor itself. In that case, why would you need a separate antivirus? It's not required. The Windows Defender is already available and it's more than capable for just browsing through applications and websites. It's more capable of defending the system from any malware or any virus from the net. So in that case, I feel that McAfee is not required.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises
