Application delivery has improved and security now ensures reliable high‑traffic e‑commerce
A10 Networks Thunder ADC offers several strong features that make it a very competitive solution. First, they provide advanced Layer 4 or Layer 7 load balancing. Another key feature is SSL offloading and encryption handling. A10 Networks Thunder ADC is also highly scalable and flexible. Scalability for A10 Networks Thunder ADC shows up in my day-to-day operations during high-traffic events such as Black Friday. One feature I find really powerful and something underrated about A10 Networks Thunder ADC is A-Flex. Beyond the standard ADC feature, what really stands out to me about A10 Networks Thunder ADC is how customizable, performant, and automated the platform is. A10 Networks Thunder ADC has a significant impact on my organization in several ways. First, it improves application availability and performance. From a security perspective, it helps protect applications against threats such as DDoS attacks. It also has a strong operational impact. In terms of cost, it can lower both CapEx and OpEx.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is very useful to have a simple dashboard where you can login and look into what your traffic patterns are, then look and see what times of day you're experiencing the heaviest traffic. You can quickly identify if you are possibly having a security issue or security breach. It makes it very easy to use the box."
"For the past two and a half years, we have not had a need to open a tech support ticket. It is really stable. In the past, our experience with tech support was that they were extremely helpful."
"We can control access based on the specific application. If other devices are attempting to directly access the servers, you can block them. Additionally, you can balance the load among servers to optimize performance. For example, utilizing caching can make the application run faster."
"It's a very friendly solution, easy to configure, and it's very flexible."
"The ease of use is very good. It's very robust. It just sits and works."
"Overall, A10 ADC is pretty good, it's reasonably priced and easy to use."
"This is one of the best products, it is capable, and I'll always suggest it for my customers as it is better than the other products."
"A10 explained why the latency dropped significantly on a site that we have."
"One of the most valuable features of this solution is the server load balancing. Something that sets this solution apart from other products is that the hardware has a much higher capacity than other vendors. That's the edge of Array Networks. Their technical support services are also very good."
"Anyone considering Array APV should not hesitate to use the Array Network because it's very light and easy to deploy and the user interface is very easy to understand."
"The most valuable feature is the application delivery control, which includes server load balancing and global server load balancing."

Cons

"One area where A10 Networks Thunder ADC could improve is the user interface, which is functional but not the most intuitive, especially for new users, making it a bit under-utilized."
"The user interface is what people complain about most of the time, particularly if they don't use it very often. Then they complain that it's a bit clunky."
"A10 Networks Thunder ADC could improve on the Application Delivery Controller. It's not a fully-fledged web application firewall solution; for example, application data and support need to improve."
"The interface and integrated custom applications can be a bit difficult."
"Maybe one concrete thing that they can improve on is their two-factor authentication."
"The interface and integrated custom applications can be a bit difficult."
"There are competitors that have more features."
"The solution does logging, but the logging capacity is really small. Because we have a bunch of traffic here, we usually get a logging-side warning that "This many logs were lost because of the heavy traffic." If the logging was better, that would be very good."
"Technical support should be better."
"I would like to see more granular reporting and monitoring features, and I believe our clients want to see them as well."
"I would like to see more granular reporting and monitoring features, and I believe our clients want to see them as well. Also, SD-WAN would be a good addition."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution costs less than its competitors."
"The price is good they are very comparative."
"As for the initial investment in the hardware, F5 and A10 are quite similar now. For the current A10 solution, the initial cost was about $36,000. As for annual support, the F5 solution would be between $10,000 and $12,000, while the A10 is $2,200 a year for support."
"We previously had F5 and switched because of costs."
"The price of A10 Networks Thunder ADC depends on capacity and the customer's requirement. They have several offerings. They have different price models and options to choose from. Additionally, you need to subscribe to support for the hardware appliances."
"It is $7000 per unit for the support annually."
"The pricing is a third of the price of the F5 competition."
"There were budgetary constraints that keep us from investing in the single pane of glass traffic management feature. We saw a demo of this feature about a year to a year and a half ago."
"I think the price for Array APV is very competitive, and some of our clients are very satisfied when it comes to the price."
