Enables seamless integration and data preparation with robust transformation capabilities
AWS Glue's most valuable features include its transformation capabilities, which provide data quality and shape for processing in ML or AI models. It offers transformation options on canvas or through ETL pipelines, notebooks, and code. Additionally, it supports data preparation, cleaning, and filtering seamlessly. AWS Glue also enhances job scheduling and orchestration capabilities, integrating with AWS Glue Studio for comprehensive data workflow management.

A low-code/no-code platform with a user-friendly UI
We couldn't implement or use some of the latest functionalities, like Spark. Palantir Foundry is scalable, but it is costly compared to other cloud providers. The solution is more suitable for small and medium businesses. It might be difficult for large enterprises. I rate the solution’s scalability a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

"AWS Glue is a stable and easy-to-use solution."
"It's very good to manage."
"Glue is a NoSQL-based data ETL tool that has some advantages over IIS and ISAs."
"The best thing about AWS Glue is its scalability and how easy it is to process a large amount of data."
"If I'm working with big data, common languages like Python work quite nicely, which is advantageous."
"AWS Glue is a good solution for developers, they have the ability to write code in different languages and other software."
"Data catalog and triggers are the two best features for me. AWS Glue has its own data catalog, which makes it great and really easy to use. Triggers are also really good for scheduling the ETL process."
"The solution provides an end-to-end integrated tech stack that takes care of all utility/infrastructure topics for you."
"The virtualization tool is useful."
"Palantir Foundry is a robust platform that has really strong plugin connectors and provides features for real-time integration."

Cons

"There should be more connectors for different databases."
"AWS Glue should be more reliable and faster in processing. Enhancing the speed of data processing would be beneficial."
"While working on AWS Glue, I could not find any training material for it."
"I would like to see a more robust interface on the no-code side. This would be nice to be able to split cells."
"Beginners need additional support as it currently lacks some features required for complex transformations, often necessitating custom Python coding."
"The setup and installation is a bit complex without advanced knowledge or training."
"On occasion, the solution's dashboard reports that a project failed due to runtime but it actually succeeded."
"The point for improvement in AWS Glue would be the dynamic allocation of resources while utilizing Lambda functions."
"The frontend capabilities of Palantir Foundry could be improved."
"They do not have a data center in Europe, and we have lots of personally identifiable information in our dataset that needs to be hosted by a third-party data center like Amazon or Microsoft Azure."
"The solution could use more online documentation for new users."
"The data lineage was challenging. It's hard to track data from the sources as it moves through stages. Informatica EDC can easily capture and report it because it talks to the metadata. This is generated across those various staging points."
"It would be helpful to build applications based on Azure functions or web apps in Palantir Foundry."
"The major hindrance with Palantir Foundry is that being a very closed product, the cost optimization and costing are not exposed to the end users."
