Automating model comparison speeds up development and reduces timelines
DataRobot is equipped with a GUI-based approach that simplifies the process of feature engineering and model training. It provides AutoML capabilities, which allow for comparing thousands of models and selecting the best-suited one based on business requirements. By automating highly technical aspects like model comparison, DataRobot enhances productivity and reduces project timelines from three months to less than one month.

Seamless integration, collaborative features, and enhances data exploration
There are several areas for improvement in SAP Analytics Cloud. Firstly, features available in SAP Lumira are missing in SAP Analytics Cloud. Secondly, the predictive analytics functions, although promising, are currently only suitable for Proof of Concepts (POCs) and not for industrial-scale use. Lastly, the pricing model for the planning functionality is quite high and presents an entry barrier.

Pros

"By automating highly technical aspects like model comparison, DataRobot enhances productivity and reduces project timelines from three months to less than one month."
"DataRobot is highly automated, allowing data scientists to build models easily."
"It's easy to do MLOps operations. It's a lot easier to manage jobs and see the logs if there's any drift in a model."
"DataRobot can be easy to use."
"We especially like the initial part of feature engineering, because feature engineering is included in most engines, but DataRobot has an excellent way of picking up the right features."
"We are satisfied with the technical support from SAP because when we reached out, we were able to get very good support from SAP colleagues."
"The visualization feature is the most valuable. SAP Analytics Cloud is also very easy to use."
"I have found that the feature to drag and drop widgets based on the data source, and import them into stories to be valuable. This way it helps the end user to create stories themselves."
"One feature I've found most valuable is discovery."
"The most useful feature of SAP Analytics Cloud is planning because it helps users with making predictions and forecasts. Clients can forecast, make data allocations, and other actions. The solution is useful for planning."
"I like the predictive features of SAP. It's easy to use tools for an end-user."
"The solution is stable."
"In the data warehouse, you're free to make changes. You can make everything text, meaning it's always a string. Even numbers appear as text, giving you the flexibility to work with all columns."

Cons

"If we could include our existing Python or R code in DataRobot, we could make it even better. The DataRobot that we have is specific to an industry, but most of the time we would have our own algorithms, which are specific to our own use case. If we had a way by which we could integrate our proprietary things into DataRobot with a simple integration, it would help us a lot."
"There are some performance issues."
"The business departments will love to work with DataRobot because they use the tool to investigate their data, such as targeting what they want to investigate. They don't need any data scientists near them. They can investigate at eye level and bring into the BI tool, or can bring it to the data scientist. Data scientists can use this tool to bring increase the solution to the maximum. All the others can use it, but not to the maximum."
"DataRobot is a UI-based tool, which means it cannot provide all the features I might manually implement through notebooks or Python. In this aspect, I see room for improvement in its functionality."
"Generative AI has taken pace, and I would like to see how DataRobot assists in doing generative AI and large language models."
"The technology used by the tool is old, making it an area where improvements are required."
"Currently only one data modeler can work at a time."
"One potential improvement is how we can transpose data. With SAP, if you have data from one system with a declared data type and a different system with another data type, the transfer is tricky."
"SAP Analytics Cloud requires a lot of coding and I would like the coding to be somewhat minimal."
"The integration with other vendors and solutions could be improved."
"SAP could add more templates to the platform."
"I think it would be easier if there was another module created to retrieve only data."
"All the features are there, maybe except for the one-gauge visualization."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We dropped the plan to use DataRobot, because we found the pricing to be on the higher sise. We liked DataRobot a lot, but due to the pricing, we dropped that idea."
"The price of DataRobot is good because if you take the price of the solution which is approximately $65,000, it is less than a data scientist. There are very few data scientists available."
"SAP Analytics Cloud is a bit higher [in price]. Because, if Microsoft can afford a better product and lower cost, SAP can afford at least the same, or even lower."
"SAP Analytics Cloud is expensive. The price is a big issue if you compare it with other solutions from different vendors."
"SAP Analytics Cloud can be quite expensive."
"It Wasn't directly involved in the pricing discussions, but when I joined the organization, they had already purchased the SAP Analytics Cloud solution. The organization faced challenges due to its perceived expense, leading to restrictions on granting access to many users."
"The platform is about 50% more expensive than Power BI."
"The product is expensive."
"Its licensing is on a monthly basis."
"The tool's pricing is medium, and licensing costs are yearly."
