Scalable with strong reporting capabilities
I haven't found any specific areas for modernization or improvement in Galen Framework yet. However, one observation I have made is about the auto-generation of Galen files. While this feature exists, functions don't seem to be available for automatically generating Galen values based on the specifications in the spec file, and this could be a potential improvement for Galen Framework.

Offers versatility in testing automation while improvements can elevate its capabilities
I currently use Jenkins and Maven for framework development. The flow involves creating the project with Maven, and once test case execution is completed locally, we push the jobs to Jenkins. It automatically triggers the executions in Jenkins so everyone in the team can see the execution report and status. I would rate the solution at 60% out of 100. Previously, troubleshooting was difficult. When test cases fail for various reasons, logs cannot explain everything, but logging is very important to get the failure results. For logging, Amazon Q will suggest where the log code needs to be included. In Jenkins, when the code is executed and results are viewed, we can easily identify where the error occurred and troubleshoot efficiently, reducing time by two to three hours. I can recommend many packages with Selenium HQ. Wait conditions and numerous features are available to use. I recommend most of them to individuals. My overall rating for Selenium HQ is 7 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In the market, not so many tools are able to check the layout with different screen resolutions as Galen can."
"What I like most about Galen Framework are its advantages, particularly its spec language and the spec file feature."
"Selenium HQ is a widely used open source tool that makes it easier to understand and automate websites."
"Selenium HQ has a lot of capabilities and is compatible with many languages."
"The solution is free to use."
"The main improvement is the lower cost of regression tests, where it may be about 30% more expensive in the first iteration but can save up to 40% or 50% in the next runs, and once the test scripts have been built, it is not necessary for the person executing the test processes to be an expert, allowing resources and costs to be optimized with lower costs in human talent and eliminating the barrier of functional knowledge."
"It covers all regression testing with 20,000 test cases run during 24 hours and easy maintenance."
"If you don’t have a budget, go with Selenium because it has a huge community and the versions are constantly updated."
"Our platform runs into several thousand screens and a few thousand test cases, something which would typically take months to test manually. As of today, the entire process takes a little over two days to run."
"It's easy for new people to get trained on this solution."

Cons

"When I use @Test(dataProvider), it causes a loop; the test result/report cannot accept the value of the data and show it in the test result/report."
"There don't seem to be functions available for automatically generating Galen values based on the specifications in the spec file, and this could be a potential improvement for Galen Framework."
"Selenium Grid set-up is bit complex."
"A drawback of Selenium is that it only focuses on web applications."
"It would be better if we could use it without having the technical skills to run the scripting test."
"I'm giving it an eight because there are a lot of things Selenium is not supporting."
"Both of those are easier solutions than Selenium but also quite expensive."
"The reporting part can be better."
"The initial setup is little complicated the installation could be simplified."
"Selenium uses a layer-based approach that is somewhat slower than Eggplant when it comes to executing code."
