Helps ensure data leaks do not occur from the base machine to VDI while multi-instance capabilities remain limited
I have been using Horizon for two years. It provides my DevOps team access to PAM and server through the provider The solution has helped ensure data leaks do not occur from the base machine to VDI, and it saves data through API copyright. The solution has data leak prevention features that…

Free version available but hard to understand
Personally, I don't think it has any commendable features. The biggest thing about it is that, compared to what you can do with VMware and Horizon, it just seems like there's an awful lot of extra work involved with the Red Hat virtualization. It doesn't just work out of the box. You have to read through about six different documents, and everybody's experience is different. So it's kind of annoying. That would be the main thing. If you're not a Linux geek, it's very hard to understand. And it's probably because I came out of the Windows world. I learned this as part of my cross-training, but I just found the way that it happens with VMware and all that stuff to be easier to use.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I think the tool is very useful for attracting new people, either new hires or consultants. Remote usage is also a significant benefit. VMware Horizon's security features depend on the customer and what they want. Of course, if they have multi-factor authentication, VMware Horizon supports that. It depends on their policies, but it works with pretty much anything."
"I find the security of Horizon to be most valuable."
"It is easy to maintain."
"The app virtualizing is a great feature."
"We are happy with the interface, configurations, pricing and support."
"The most valuable features are that it is easy to use and easy to manage."
"My customers most likely use Horizon 8 for remote desktop, which means making sure that people can access system resources from anywhere on a secure platform, even from a non-secure, or non-company device."
"The most valuable features are Instant Clones and AppStacks."
"There's lots of good support out there in the community."
"The most valuable features are automated deployment and transparent movement for virtual machines over all our locations."
"The improvement to our organization is managing all our KVM-based virtual machines in a management environment."

Cons

"The majority of things in VMware Horizon can be done only in Windows and not in Linux. There are Linux customers who would like to use VMware Horizon's features."
"I would like to see seamless integration with the cloud because right now, the dependency is on the cloud providers."
"I would like to see the VDP or other features for backing up the VMs."
"The primary concern lies with licensing. There’s confusion regarding licensing terms following the new management’s takeover. Consequently, our resellers and distributors are confused."
"The system integration also needs some improvement."
"Horizon View's pricing is high."
"What I would like to see improved is not so much about the product. It's more about how to get information about products. It's always too much sales pitching and fancy works and stuff."
"The setup of VMware Horizon 7 is easy. However, we have a lot of experience with VMware Horizon 7."
"The best improvement for oVirt 4.2 is to enable backup features for major backup products of virtual machines."
"The biggest thing about it is that, compared to what you can do with VMware and Horizon, it just seems like there's an awful lot of extra work involved with Red Hat virtualization."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a monthly subscription for the use of this solution and it is expensive."
"The license could be cheaper."
"The VMware Horizon 7 license is for three months. We are in the testing stage, we are still evaluating the product. We are sure now that we need to buy a license for the production environment."
"VMware Horizon can be considered to be slightly expensive"
"This solution is expensive. A lot of companies in Mexico find that the price is too high."
"Licensing and hardware outsourcing is expensive, but can be cost-effective in the three to five-year range."
"The product is extremely expensive."
"I cannot provide a detailed comment on the pricing; however, I can say that it is quite expensive."
"I use the free developer stuff right now."
