A good server with useful features like partitions
Huawei KunLun Mission Critical Server support can be better. HP has better support, and more customers have experience with this brand. For clients, there are opportunities to replace the server and take applications from the Huawei server to the Dell server. The server isn't the problem. The problem is with the applications and the database.

When discussing disadvantages, I do not see many areas for improvement because we have received good testimonies from every client. IBM gives customers peace of mind. One challenge, which I would not really call a challenge, is that initially people have the notion that IBM Power Systems is quite expensive. However, IBM does not lose deals based on price. This is a message we need to keep communicating to people who feel that IBM is on the high side in terms of cost. We encourage them to have a discussion with us about their total cost of ownership over three or five years. There is a notion in the market that IBM is expensive, which is false. However, once we engage and show them their return on investments and their total cost of ownership savings, they tend to embrace IBM.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Huawei KunLun Mission Critical Server is scalable; the others don't have scalability like this, and the CPU and memory are good in this version."
"Features like partitions are useful."
"The initial setup is simple and straightforward."
"POWER8 was a huge upgrade."
"What we like the most is the ability to upgrade the scaling of the system itself. Whenever we need extra storage, we can do that. Whenever we need extra memory, we can do that as well. It's fast and it's available."
"When it comes to reliability, availability and profitability, nothing can beat IBM Power Systems."
"We are very happy with Power's performance."
"The performance and stability are great."
"IBM Power Systems is the most stable solution in the world."
"Active Memory Expansion allows you to compress your memory on the run time to allow you to have less physical memory available, but provision more memory to your partitions, as everything will be compressed on the fly."

Cons

"Support can be better."
"Huawei KunLun Mission Critical Server support can be better."
"It would be ideal if the solution was more simple to work with."
"I would say that in general we would prefer it if the software was more transparent, in terms of how you are using it."
"Power Systems' price could always be lower."
"If you asked me what I'd like added, I'd say that it'd be nice if they ran GPUs, however, I know that's not the direction they're going. That said, I would appreciate it if they offered GPU support."
"It would be an improvement if the cost went down, as well."
"I would say the cost. They need to work on the cost because I think it's quite expensive and that's a changing trend in the industry, to be more focused on the product."
"The pricing of the product could always be lowered."
"IBM Power Systems need to improve aspects such as power outage handling, simplifying the setup, and possibly lowering the price."

"The solution's pricing is very, very high compared to other platforms."
"There is a yearly licensing cost, and it's an expensive solution."
