JO
A good server with useful features like partitions
Huawei KunLun Mission Critical Server support can be better. HP has better support, and more customers have experience with this brand. For clients, there are opportunities to replace the server and take applications from the Huawei server to the Dell server. The server isn't the problem. The problem is with the applications and the database.

Offers security features, including HIPs, Postgres, intrusion prevention systems, and AI for specific tasks
We've found that sometimes, certain setups require better servers. Ideally, the next level of model that IBM offers would be perfect for those situations. Sometimes, the availability of additional services can be a challenge for some software. Certain IBM software takes time to deliver to the client. It can be slow. So deployment is an area for improvement.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Features like partitions are useful."
"What we like the most is the ability to upgrade the scaling of the system itself. Whenever we need extra storage, we can do that. Whenever we need extra memory, we can do that as well. It's fast and it's available."
"IBM Power Systems are secure and have fast processing."
"Power Systems' best features are that it's reliable, stable, and easily available. It's also really scalable and can be virtualized without third-party software support."
"I can have what they call multi-tenancy, meaning that I can have multiple tenants within the same server."
"We value the stability and technology capability of this solution the most. It is very stable, and the processor technology of IBM is very good. When you have a CIO and you are dealing with C-level every day, you can, without any doubt, support the core banking or critical applications with this solution."
"The SMT that they've improved has really helped open up boundaries for other applications that can use it."
"Additionally, the processing power is far superior, especially with the RSA feature for reliability, serviceability, and availability."
"Power Systems' best features include its user-friendliness and self-checking/self-healing abilities."

Cons

"Support can be better."
"It does not offer the ability to run any X86 or X64 Intel architecture-based application on Power Systems. There are a lot of applications, lots of business use cases that do not support this architecture as of now. If somehow application tasks can be ported on to IBM Power Systems, that would be a big improvement."
"Technical support and documentation need to be improved."
"I would like to see IBM Power Systems integrate with all cloud types."
"I would like to see firmware available to all of the systems."
"Price and complexity related to the management of the solution are areas of concern in the solution where improvements are required."
"I think IBM needs a little more work on managing the overall environment with eliminating Systems Director."
"IBM should be more flexible with marketing or offer marketing events themselves and invite the partners to attend. That might be far more productive."
"We have a problem with the storage software. The media to restore data is also not found."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The price of the solution could be somewhat better and this is what lowers my rating of it to a seven or eight out of ten."
"The price of IBM Power Systems is expensive and could improve."
"The cost model is great. There is so much built in to the technology, that if you know how to use it you can save yourself a lot of money."
"It is designed for a large workload, as opposed to a small workload. For our circumstances, and even as an independent, I can't buy a Power system to experiment on. It can't happen. You cannot buy them."
"Its price is too high."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"Its price depends on the sizing."
"Power Systems is a bit more costly than other products in the market, but in terms of ROI and the longevity, performance, and reliability that Power Systems provides, it's worth it in the long run."
