Support improves setup and maintenance while pricing influences decision
If you have a similar use case and the same deal with IBM as our company, it is definitely a good option and choice. The company I work with has more than 50,000 people and more than 500 support staff. We are not locked into one database vendor. We typically work with multiple database vendors simultaneously, selecting the top choice based on the deals we make and other considerations. We do not use IBM Db2 Database related to AI at this moment because our AI project PLC is still very small scale. We may consider it in the future if we have enough scale. Overall rating for IBM Db2 Database is 8.5 out of 10.

Currently, I have a very good experience with Oracle Multitenant. The pluggable database is easy to handle and manage, sharing resources efficiently. However, Oracle license pricing is an issue due to its high cost. Our organization is compelled to reduce CPU usage by seventy CPUs because the Oracle license cost depends on it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable aspect of this solution is its stability. We have never had any problems and have never had to contact technical support."
"The initial setup was easy."
"The solution is easy to install and simple to maintain. The most valuable aspect of the solution is its general user-friendliness for users of all kinds."
"Some of the most valuable features are the scaling from a small very cheap installation to a very large enterprise installation. In addition, the backups and assistance are good."
"Its functionality and availability are valuable. Its availability is great. It is available 99.99% of the time."
"It's very secure."
"I believe that because the support is good, they jump in and assist us in determining the root cause."
"it is very stable and runs smoothly once it is deployed and it is almost maintenance-free."
"I would rate the scalability a ten out of ten. Our clients are mostly medium and enterprise businesses."
"The most valuable features are the speed and ease of use."
"Multitenant has a container database with many pluggable databases."
"Our primary use of Oracle includes writing queries for retrieving data for customers without worrying about the customer ID, user ID, as it is automatically connected to each query."
"The modernization aspect of Oracle Multitenant is significant; it wasn't available previously in database technology, but now it is, enhancing database consolidation."
"The feature that I like on Multitenant is the ease - it is very easy for my team to run the database."
"It is quite stable. We have not faced any kind of instability in the database."
"You can scale the solution as needed."

Cons

"The product’s user interface is not easy to use."
"The user interface is not user-friendly."
"The solution could improve by providing more integration."
"Not very solid compared to its competitors' products."
"They could enhance the product's cloud integration and general-purpose database capabilities."
"I would like to see better support for advanced analytics."
"The queries can be difficult for beginners because there are so many. I would like to see more use cases for flow analysis that enable us to correlate the flow with events. Adding this feature in a QI format would be good for beginners."
"It might be slightly slower than other database vendors, but it works well since banks typically do not move quickly with leading-edge technology."
"The solution lacks a GUI for commands."
"It would be beneficial to include this solution with Oracle Enterprise, but Oracle charges additional fees for it."
"The user interface for this solution can be made better."
"From the scope of improvement, I would say that people are adopting new query options. Certain databases like MongoDB adopt new query options so that they can just pull the data."
"Oracle license pricing is an issue due to its high cost. Our organization is compelled to reduce CPU usage by seventy CPUs because the Oracle license cost depends on it."
"Technical support could be faster."
"It can be complicated to scale up the solution, but it's scalable."
"That said, Oracle in general doesn't invest in their UI for any of their applications. If we're talking about the dashboard or other user experience, there is room for improvement. I'm talking about on premises. The cloud version has started to improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"They are competitive and honest (compared to how peer firms approach licensing conversations). "
"If I consider the price of IBM Db2 Database, I would say there are cheaper products in the market."
"It is expensive when compared to other products."
"I would rate the pricing a five out of ten. It's not super expensive, but also not cheap."
"Compared to other databases, Db2 is relatively cheaper."
"We purchase the product's yearly license."
"It is expensive. The price depends on the size of the machine on which you are installing the Db2 and the features you are using. It also depends on the country. IBM has different policies and different options for payment for this product."
"Compared to Oracle, it is so much cheaper."
"The price is worth the quality."
"This solution is a little bit pricey."
"For me, I will go with it if I have the budget. Some features are nicer than before, but at the end of the day, you always have a limited budget. I prefer to upgrade and get a specific hardware when possible. At the end, you will have to make a compromise. You will not get everything you would have liked to have."
