A robust product that needs to improve the functionality it offers related to API lifecycle management
Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a six to seven out of ten. My company consists of around 7000 employees, and we use the solution as an integrated service in around 300 to 400 systems, both internally and externally, making it a huge number. Our company uses the solution every minute and every second, and we can't function without it.

Offers strong integration capabilities and reliable features but needs pricing and scaling improvements
Many things are evolving with the AI buzz in the market. What I would like to see improved or enhanced in webMethods.io in the future is that since webMethods.io is already under IBM, I think IBM will introduce and integrate AI into it. Additionally, regarding what webMethods.io can improve is the license cost. Other cloud players are also providing the same kind of functionality, such as AWS and Azure. webMethods.io is being installed on-premises, but AWS is providing it directly in the cloud. When comparing the license cost and request per minute cost, webMethods.io needs to address that. There are many competitors in the market for this.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is that it is a service-oriented architecture, SOA-based."
"This is a good platform but in our case, it needs to be updated."
"It's very stable and reliable."
"The GUI and IDE features of this solution are easy to work with and to develop. We find application management easy using this solution. It is a stable product"
"It is easy to develop. It has a very wide range of features. The older versions are very stable, and there are no issues with the product."
"The solution is very stable."
"TIBCO has the platform in terms of speed and ease of use."
"The most attractive and beneficial feature is the ease of development."
"Given that you have one integration API in place, it takes very minimal effort to scale it to any other application that might want to use the same. Its flow-based development environment is a breeze and makes it really easy to re-use most of the existing components and build up a new API."
"I like the tool's scalability."
"I like the solution's policies, transformation, mediation, and routing features."
"Technical support is very good and user-friendly."
"ActiveTransfer lets us maintain the file in the staging area before we transfer it. After that, we can remove the file to make sure that the reconciliation process is done. Sometimes we will zip and unzip the files, but if we have a GKB file, we often ignore it."
"The most valuable feature of webMethods Integration Server is all the capabilities it provides. We leverage most of the features, that they have offered to us. Our vendor has made some additional features on top of the webMethods Integration Server and we use all the features together."
"How simple it is to create new solutions."
"My advice to anybody who is considering this product is that it is a very powerful tool that will empower the development of services."

Cons

"We'd like to see improvements in product support."
"I don't like the product's API management platform, as it doesn't offer users enough functionality to help with API lifecycle management, making it a product that is way behind its competitors."
"In the next release, there should be improvements made to the API manager."
"If TIBCO could be able to sort the size of their base image in the Container edition, it would be really marvelous. Right now it's around 299 MB. We'd really want it to reduce to a few MBs."
"In the configuration, where we need to customize, it takes more time that we expect it to, ideally."
"The initial setup process could be easier."
"The intermediate version that we are using has stability issues. These stability issues should be resolved, but it seems like TIBCO is not focusing on resolving these issues. The resolution timelines are quite high even for high-priority incidents. Its price should be lower. Its licensing cost is considerably high as compared to other ESBs."
"Migration to cloud solutions or products should be made convenient, transparent, and easily understandable."
"The price should be reduced to make it more affordable."
"This product is for larger companies. Compared to TIBCO I think webMethods is better in terms of ease of use and support."
"I am not satisfied with the solution because it takes too much effort to migrate and add new information. The migration could be easier."
"Scalability is not the best capability of this product."
"We got the product via a reseller, and the support from the reseller has been less than desirable."
"The solution is really hard to use, as the manual and documentation fail to provide proper explanations, especially to people who are first time users of webMethods, Software AG."
"Some things could be improved, especially how ActiveTransfer handles third-party file transfers."
"There should be better logging, or a better dashboard, to allow you to see see the logs of the services."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Price-wise, I would say that the product is expensive."
"When it comes to cost, TIBCO is much more competitive than a product like Pega."
"The licensing cost is a challenge for quite a few customers."
"The price is on the higher side. For the same price, if I go to the previous version, I would have got a lot more capacity with similar kinds of features."
"The biggest issue disadvantage of TIBCO is that it is expensive."
"Its licensing cost is considerably high as compared to other ESBs."
"The pricing and licensing costs for webMethods are very high, which is the only reason that we might switch to another product."
"There are no hidden costs in addition to the standard licensing fees for webMethods. For corporate organizations, it's a very cheap or fairly priced product, but for growing or small businesses, it's quite expensive. These businesses would probably need to consider an enterprise services bus at some point. Thus, from a pricing point, it closes out non-cooperate businesses."
"webMethods Integration Server is expensive, and there's no fixed price on it because it has a point pricing model. You can negotiate, which makes it interesting."
"Based on our team discussions and feedback, it is pretty costly because they charge us for each transmission."
"It is a cost-effective solution."
"Some of the licensing is "component-ized," which is confusing to new users/customers."
"Pricing is the number-one downfall. It's too expensive. They could make more money by dropping the price in half and getting more customers. It's the best product there is, but it's too expensive."
"webMethods Trading Networks is a bit costly compared to others solutions."
