Great integration tool for complex integration environment - large range of adapters and connection software.
Version 6 needs more work - stay with 5 unless you have to move.
Several years.

The technical support is very good.
Replaced SAP PI in some areas - much better and easier to implement.
It takes a while to set up but once installed works well
Has reputation for being expensive - there are cheaper alternatives however don't offer the range of adapters or integration experience that TIBCO has.
TIBCO seems to be emphasizing on analytics and other areas rather than integration which were its roots.
The real time, and easy integration with in-memory databases like Active Space for better throughput.
I used it for a couple of clients. The one I can use is what we did with Kohls retail. We created one view of the product for all source systems so we knew the availability and status of other features in their various systems.
It creates a bundle of all its related entities and its versions too, so the record changes too many times, it ends up with a bigger bundle to load, and this results in it taking longer to update/view.
I used various versions of product from 7.9 to 8.3 for almost 3 years. I used it in conjunction with Tibco Active Space.
The product is stable, but it depends on the app server.
The customer service is good, we get all levels of expertise on it.
I previously used Teradata MDM, and by comparing that I found it better. Currently I am using Informatica MDM, which I found have great features along with a strong ETL tool for integration.
The initial set up is pretty straightforward, but customization may take time depending on the complexity of your setup.
I have done implementations for a product teams professional service group. If you have a good level of support from Tibco, then you will have a better turnaround for your problems.
I think the pricing of product may be high because it comes with whole set of other tools required for integration. So it will take some time to get the ROI as we implement the solution.
Nowadays there are lot of MDM tools available in market, but I would recommend Tibco MDM if good throughput is required with its integration layer.
I used TIBCO EBX for master data management solutions in Turkey, which desperately needs such tools.
EBX is a multi-domain product, which makes it easy to switch between domains like customer, agent, or vendor. It allows business users to handle 60% to 70% of tasks independently with the proper foundational infrastructure. EBX is cost-effective as it is a web-based application. It offers flexibility to manage user rights, making it easy to manage.
There was a resource issue, so TIBCO did not prioritize the Turkish market. They lacked patience to create local partners, which was necessary for markets like Turkey. Marketing could be improved, as EBX wasn't well-presented in Turkey.
I personally quit TIBCO EBX more than a year ago.
TIBCO's support was satisfactory, centralized, and cost-optimized. They were quite prompt and often responded to consulting questions, which was beneficial.
Positive
I have experience with other traditional MDM tools like Informatica, which were not capable of sufficient localization. EBX seemed to be a good tool compared to these.
For analytical work, I have worked with BusinessObjects, QlikView, and other traditional MDM solutions like Informatica.
EBX can be implemented in a certain department in six months, however, an enterprise-level implementation might take two years. The duration varies depending on the scope.
I used to manage projects, although I was coming from a sales background, through which I gathered experience about the implementation. The technical guarantor partners left, so it ended my company's journey with TIBCO EBX.
With proper KPIs to measure ROI, effects can be noticed even after six months, however, it depends heavily on the size and scope of implementation.
EBX is cost-effective as it is a free web-based application. It allows you to adjust operations easily, thus offering flexibility in managing costs across different operations.
I would rate EBX as a nine out of ten.
Despite its resource allocation issues in Turkey, it is a great tool, being a new generation product with better capabilities than traditional tools.
