Quick and easy to install with great features, but not recommended for a large installation
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features are its easy access, the controller, and constant updates."
  • "They provide support via Chat ONLY, and moreover, they are not very knowledgeable."

What is our primary use case?

We used this solution in a beachside hotel with twelve floors, three hundred and fifty rooms.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are its easy access, the controller, and constant updates.

What needs improvement?

The support for this product is insufficient.

How are customer service and technical support?

There is NO technical support offered by phone. They provide support via Chat ONLY, and moreover, they are not very knowledgeable. There is not even an option for paid support.

How was the initial setup?

It was a system that was quick and easy to install, with controller and cloud management included.

What other advice do I have?

After a couple of years, the Access point reached EOL and no support was available for Controller updates. If we need to add new APs, they will not work with the previous controller version. This would require having to create a second controller for new APs.

I would not recommend this system for a large business.

What is our primary use case?

I use the Point-to-Point NanoBeam and wireless for small offices to warehouse wireless.

How has it helped my organization?

Once setup, it just works. Now, the support and software are better. I have deployed over a hundred access points and approximately 50 NanoBeams. Business is growing due to referrals

What is most valuable?

  • The setup and ease of support
  • Firmware can be pushed or manually updated.
  • The Cloud Key controller was a great addition.

What needs improvement?

  • Integrate NanoBeams into the Controller Software.
  • Better pre-purchase docs, as I have to contact support via chat for some things that should already be in documents.

For how long have I used the solution?

More than five years.

The solution is easy to configure, low cost, and reliable.

What is our primary use case?

WiFi for our home office and client sites as well.

What is most valuable?

The solution is easy to configure, low cost, and reliable. I do not have to worry about maintenance once the solution is set up, other than updates.

How has it helped my organization?

Though we use the solution internally, we mainly install the solution for clients. My clients have been very happy.

What needs improvement?

Support has gotten much better. The main support is community based. They need to consider offering an enterprise level support for corporate clients that demand this from their other vendors.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used this solution for four years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

None.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not encountered any issues with stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have not encountered any issues with scalability.

How are customer service and technical support?

Email support is slow. Community support is good, but it can be spotty.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I switched to this solution due to the cost of other solutions.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very simple and it did not require advanced training.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This solution is low cost and it has a simple cost structure with no recurring fees.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

My clients always evaluate other options, such as Cisco, Meraki, Aruba, Aerohive, and others.

What other advice do I have?

  • Read the documentation.
  • Understand that there is not a centralized controller required.
  • Realize that it is not “Cisco,” but you are also not paying at that level.
  • Engage someone that knows how to design a WiFi solution and can conduct a true pre-install survey and post-install survey.
  • Get someone who uses tools like AirMagnet or Ekahau to do the survey, not someone walking around with good phone reading signal strength who guesses.
  • If you invest in the survey and the good design, you will still save money over any other solution on the market.
