Privileged access management (PAM) is why we use ARCON Privileged Access Management.
Senior Technology Manager at a outsourcing company with 501-1,000 employees
With helpful features like remote and server access, the solution strives to meet the requirements of its users
Pros and Cons
- "Technical support is good. I rate the technical support an eight out of ten."
- "The deployment process is a bit complex because no document is available."
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
Feature-wise, remote access, and server access are some of the things I found to be valuable in the solution. Also, our customers are satisfied with the solution.
What needs improvement?
Sometimes, ARCON Privileged Access Management's website would crash. So, because of this, video logs and other such related things are not captured. Sometimes, we face certain performance issues while using the solution.
Apart from the aforementioned details, to make it better in terms of features, we need a backup strategy.
In the product, different things are available. Now there are other products, and there are similarities between those other products. So, they will have that script done. What we usually do is if you run the script, it will take one backup and keep it somewhere. So, we need that backup strategy since it is important.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using ARCON Privileged Access Management for two and a half years. My company has a partnership with ARCON. We suggest the solution to our customers. I have implemented the solution for more than four of our customers.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Stability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I'm handling the solution for all types of companies. So, it is not like I am only involved in small or medium businesses. From scratch itself, I am involved with all types of businesses.
How are customer service and support?
Technical support is good. I rate the technical support an eight out of ten.
How was the initial setup?
The deployment process is a bit complex because no document is available. So we depend on YEM to confirm technical things. Also, if you need any new updates installed, we depend on YEM. The implementation takes an average of two days. Also, the time is based on the customer's requirements. For small customers, it may take two days. It will take a month for large customers with over ten thousand users.
Firstly, we understand the customer's requirements, like what they are looking for, and we gather that information. After that, we'll go for that implementation. First, we need to, like, go through the pre-sales stage, in which we try to understand their requirements and how they want to use the solution. Basically, we need to meet that scope of work initially.
Right now, in South India, I'm the only person taking care of the implementation.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Pricing is something you need to check with our salesperson.
What other advice do I have?
It is a good product. So most of these new features in the solution are based on the customers' needs, and they develop it in a month. So, it is usually there in the next release.
In short, they first understand the customers' requirements. If ARCON meets the requirements to develop the new feature, it will develop them.
Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Powerful vaulting feature but lacks bulk password automation
Pros and Cons
- "One of the main benefits we've experienced is that Arcon helps us manage all our team's tasks and provides recording capabilities."
- "Bulk password automation is not available in ARCON when compared to other products."
What is our primary use case?
We primarily use it for managing our team's devices, such as remote desktops and Linux switches.
How has it helped my organization?
One of the main benefits we've experienced is that Arcon helps us manage all our team's tasks and provides recording capabilities. In addition, we also receive alert messages for the various features we use, which is quite helpful.
What is most valuable?
Some of the most valuable features include security measures such as password vaulting, as well as other features that help prevent big losses. The powerful vaulting feature is also quite useful.
What needs improvement?
Bulk password automation is not available in ARCON when compared to other products, and the cloud service is not intuitive for this behavior. For me, these could be some areas of improvement.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using ARCON Privileged Access Management for around two years. I am currently working with version 8.6.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is scalable. There are around 500 users who work with Arcon in my organization.
How are customer service and support?
As of now, we have only escalated issues regarding password vaulting and sometimes there are problems with bulk password requests.
The customer service and support team is good.
How was the initial setup?
It was not easy or difficult; it was in the middle. It is deployed in a hybrid environment. The setup process may be on the same level as CyberArk.
What about the implementation team?
We deployed it manually, not using automation. It is not difficult to maintain ARCON. It is easy to manage the solution.
What other advice do I have?
My recommendation is to onboard all the devices that we currently manage in our organization so that they can be accessed via PAM. I definitely recommend using the solution. Overall, I would rate ARCON Privileged Access Management a seven out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Hybrid Cloud
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.

Support services and ease of use need to be improved, but it's priced competitively
Pros and Cons
- "That dashboard is okay."
- "The password vaulting is robust."
- "Managing users is difficult, so that is something that can be improved."
- "For certain environments, it is very bad."
What is our primary use case?
This solution is used by system administrators that need to access critical servers. They need to log in using this product, and it then logs their activities.
What is most valuable?
The only advantage this product has over competitors is the price. It's cheaper than competing solutions.
That dashboard is okay.
The password vaulting is robust.
What needs improvement?
This product has only a basic set of features. There is nothing really special about it.
The support services need to be improved.
The interface should be easier to use. One thing that would help is better documentation.
Managing users is difficult, so that is something that can be improved.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with ARCON Privileged Access Management for more than three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
This product is relatively stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
This is a highly scalable solution.
This product can be good in a small enterprise but when the environment is too big, it will be difficult to implement. It is only good for banks. For certain environments, it is very bad.
How are customer service and support?
The support is very bad. This is an area that needs improvement.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have experience with several similar products across different organizations. These include SIEM solutions, as well as Micro Focus ArcSight and IBM QRadar.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is relatively easy. I would not say that it is overly easy or overly complex. However, the end-to-end implementation process is very complex. This is something that needs to be better.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The cost of this product is very cheap, comparatively in the global market.
Indian products are cheaper than American products, and they penetrate the market easily because of the price. There are no eye-catching activities or support. Rather, the advantage they gain is because of the price.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate this solution a four out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
Project Manager at a healthcare company with 10,001+ employees
Simple and 100% compliant with great features; saved us many hours of down time
Pros and Cons
- "100% compliant and you don't have to maintain ID management for each and every user."
- "For that reason we introduced the PAM solution and it's working extremely well."
- "I think hazard flow could be improved, the data compliance part."
What is our primary use case?
Our company is involved in the health care sector and our primary use case of this solution is for compliance. Previously we used a system that included an Excel sheet but it would crash all the time because we have a large number of IT executives; tech related, application development and other administrators. We weren't able to receive the complete audit file that told us who was accessing and who was deleting what. It wasn't in compliance with data information security. For that reason we introduced the PAM solution and it's working extremely well. We're using it constantly on a daily basis. We are customers of ARCON and I'm a project manager.
What is most valuable?
There are several valuable features in the solution. First, it's 100% compliant and you don't have to maintain ID management for each and every user. That's from the management perspective. From the technical aspect I would say that it completely meets our requirements.
What needs improvement?
I think hazard flow could be improved, the data compliance part. We need to ensure that no data from any of our users is being accessed or compromised by any privileged user or a team member. There are some things on the database side which are missing and could be included. This is a web-based interface with multiple windows and you have to keep logging in. It should be that you can run any command in any window. It's really about the interface and navigating it.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using this solution for over a year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is very stable. I've read that it has been recommended by most of the financial institutions worldwide and I bet most of the companies in India, where I am, are promoting it.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
This is absolutely scalable. We currently have 90 users out of 150 employees and we aim to increase that by the next quarter. It was delayed because of Covid.
How are customer service and technical support?
We contacted technical support once or twice in the implementation stage because there was an issue with the database team. The problem got solved and we were happy with that.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We did a few POC, proof of concept. One was with Centrify and also with another solution. When our POC was done, it was clear that PAM was the best solution for us and I was happy with the result. We also heard from other companies that they were happy with this solution and word-of-mouth is also an important source.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was really simple but the database portion was a little more complicated and some of the features we had expected were not initially there. They were able to sort it out. Deployment was done in-house and expected to take two months but ended up taking four to five months until we were happy with it. It's a beautiful solution and we're much happier.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing for this product is on the cheaper side.
What other advice do I have?
This is a very good enterprise solution and I would say that all enterprise companies should be using products like this. We're satisfied with the features and availability of this product.
I would rate this solution a 10 out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Senior Network System Engineer at a tech services company with 11-50 employees
Easy to deploy
Pros and Cons
- "I'll provide feedback on additional features after the project is completed. I think it would be better to comment on that after the implementation is finished."
What needs improvement?
I'll provide feedback on additional features after the project is completed. I think it would be better to comment on that after the implementation is finished.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been testing this solution for the past month.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The deployment is not finished yet. To assess performance and stability, the project needs completion. Currently, our professional service is actively involved, managing tasks related to services and users in the ongoing termination process.
How are customer service and support?
Currently, I'm in constant communication with them. They are professional, helpful, and highly experienced.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
How was the initial setup?
They need to simplify the implementation process. I've observed that sometimes the professional service is focused on the database, especially around log shipping, and it can be challenging.
I'm actively involved in the deployment process, but it's carried out by our professional service. Our plans are implemented through this service, acting as intermediaries between our clients and the professionals. The implementation typically takes around a month, but various issues, such as management, resources, and other challenges, may arise during the deployment.
One notable difficulty we face is the lack of exceptional resources for deploying the solution in our plans. Despite encountering challenges, our satisfaction with the professional service remains high. They are dedicated to implementing the solution effectively.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I'm uncertain about the licensing, specifically the pricing. This falls under the purview of other teams, particularly the sales teams. I am not informed about the pricing details.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate it a ten out of ten overall. It's scalable and easy to deploy. However, I have some concerns. I noticed there are no instructional videos or guides on the network portal for initial configurations. There is limited information available, and this is a concern for me. I would like to see more resources and guides to address these issues.
Regrettably, this product remains incomplete, and the interim phase is still pending. It is challenging to determine its effectiveness due to some significant initial license issues.

System Engineer (Cybersecurity) at Omgea Exim Ltd
A hybrid solution for password vault with password-retrieving tool but gives error
What is our primary use case?
ARCON PAM offers two main access control use cases: dynamic and fixed. In the dynamic use case, users request access to services through the admin, who approves the request and grants access to a specific user account. In the fixed use case, generic users are validated, and the admin manages the password. Additionally, the admin can take a real-time session for any user accessing any service.
What is most valuable?
The important features are the APM and password-retrieving tool.
What needs improvement?
The tool is giving an error while accessing the services. I need to modify the DLP file, which involves altering the coding for development purposes. Others may modify some reports. ARCON is dependent on these modifications. As an admin, I cannot edit & customize reports. When I request a personalized report from ARCON, the report template provides the changes.
While some features have been added, the video-capturing functionality for PAM is currently limited to Linux-based systems. When using Windows RDP or Windows-related solutions, command retrieval is not available, allowing users to execute the delete command without capturing the action. It is recommended that video-capturing capabilities be expanded to Windows environments to address this issue. Additionally, enhancing the video log functionality to enable faster and more efficient identification of user actions would be beneficial.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using ARCON PAM for the last five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate the solution’s stability a seven out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable.
I rate the solution’s scalability an eight out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
We directly contact and raise the ticket to the support team.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have used CyberArk before. CyberArk is the most famous PAM solution. Also, it is a very costly solution.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Hybrid Cloud

IAM Senior Specialist at a computer software company with 501-1,000 employees
A reasonably priced solution that fails to offer its users some of the advanced features offered by one of its competitors
Pros and Cons
- "The deployment process for the solution was easy...The solution's technical support team was good."
- "The solution lacks to offer a governance mechanism for operational technology assets."
What needs improvement?
Compared to BeyondTrust, ARCON Privileged Access Management fails to provide its users with functionalities like managing AD Bridging and addressing the OT assets from an OT standpoint, including operational technology devices. The solution lacks to offer a governance mechanism for operational technology assets. ARCON has not addressed all of these areas where they lack, while BeyondTrust has a solution for the unaddressed issues by ARCON.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have experience with ARCON products for ten years. With ARCON Privileged Access Management, I have experience of around nine months. Since I work in the pre-sales department and am not a developer, I won't be able to give you a complete or detailed insight into the solution's technical aspects. My company only recommends ARCON Privileged Access Management to potential users. We already have customers using the solution. My company has a partnership with ARCON.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven or eight out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
The solution's technical support team was good.
How was the initial setup?
The deployment process for the solution was easy.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
ARCON Privileged Access Management's pricing is reasonable.
What other advice do I have?
Some of our customers who use the solution are satisfied while some are not. We have also received some negative feedback from some of our customers. So, I recommend BeyondTrust over ACRON Privileged Access Management owing to its additional features and easier deployment process. BeyondTrust is also available on a hybrid cloud. However, if you compare the costs of both solutions, BeyondTrust is on the higher side. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Good security with an easy initial setup and good stability
Pros and Cons
- "The initial setup is very straightforward. It's not complex at all."
- "Overall, aside from the lack of password management, this solution is the best."
- "The solution needs more work on the password management side of things. Password management is a big challenge for us, and I would like to improve this aspect. We're finding that BeyondTrust is better in this regard, which is why we're probably going to migrate over. It will offer better security I think."
What is our primary use case?
We prefer not to talk about our use cases for security reasons.
What is most valuable?
Overall, aside from the lack of password management, this solution is the best. It's a very good product.
What needs improvement?
The solution needs more work on the password management side of things. Password management is a big challenge for us, and I would like to improve this aspect. We're finding that BeyondTrust is better in this regard, which is why we're probably going to migrate over. It will offer better security I think.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been working with the solution for the past two and a half years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability is really good on this solution. This product is really amazing. But in terms of our security, password management is a little bit of a worry for us. Security-wise, we need to change the password frequently. This product only has options for changing the password once a week, every two weeks, two days, or three days. Our recommendation is whenever users want to access the target server, they have to, every time, change the password. So this option is not available currently and it's a weak point.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable, but the security level doesn't increase. That might be an issue for larger companies and continues to be an issue for us. Still, we consider it to be a very good product.
We use this product quite extensively and on a daily basis.
How are customer service and technical support?
We've made contact with the technical support team on multiple occasions. We even reached out about increasing the password security protocols as an added feature and they said they would consider it, however not much has changed there. They said they were going to release it as a new feature in the next release. That never happened. It's the reason we're looking at another product. It would have been great if they actually responded to their client's needs a bit more.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is very straightforward. It's not complex at all.
We handle every aspect of the solution, from deployment and troubleshooting all the way through to managing and accounting. I personally have an administrator-level certification so I know personally how to handle the implementation of the solution and how to work everything in the background.
Deployment takes a maximum of two hours. It's not a long process.
What about the implementation team?
We were able to implement the solution in-house using our own team. we didn't require the assistance of any integrators, resellers or consultants.
What other advice do I have?
We're customers; we don't have any relationship with the business. We're not a reseller or anything like that. We just use the product.
Currently, we're using the solution. However, it's our intention to migrate to BeyondTrust in the near future.
Currently, we are using the latest version of the solution.
I'd like new users to know that the deployment really is quite straightforward, and it's easy to manage and troubleshoot. It's simple to restore the database within minutes if necessary as well. There are some great features that are available on the solution that makes it a worthwhile addition to a business. For us, security remains a concern, and password management is lacking. If an organization shares those concerns, this may not be the perfect solution for them.
Overall, I would rate the solution eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
