What do I think about the stability of the solution?

VM-based DNS looks like it's very stable, but the past services is a challenging one.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is the biggest issue.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support team is good. They are dedicated and try to get to the bottom of the problem.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup for VMware was a piece of cake for the past services, as I mentioned. But there are a bunch of problems that are related to the way it was configured before past services, and some people from Azure are working hard to find a way to fix it.

The deployment on VMs is intuitive and easy. But for the past services, we had to set up and modify the solution a few times for troubleshooting and looking for a resolution.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend people stick to the VM-based version of Azure DNS. Do not work with past services until some issues get resolved.

I rate the overall solution a six out of ten.

DNS domain hosting solution used to manage private endpoints and related data in a stable way
Pros and Cons
  • "From a security perspective, Microsoft is much better than other cloud providers."
  • "The initial setup of this solution could be less complex and require less manual configurations."

What is our primary use case?

We use private endpoints and we use this solution to ensure that when data is ingested or presented, it doesn't go to any public endpoint where we cant access it.

What is most valuable?

This solution gives us the ability to stop DODS. We can set up our own V nets and sub nets.

From a security perspective, Microsoft is much better than other cloud providers.

What needs improvement?

The initial setup of this solution could be less complex and require less manual configurations.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is a scalable solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not that straightforward as this is not a plug and play solution. There are a lot of configurations that need to be completed. From a maintenance perspective, we do not require a big team to handle this.

What was our ROI?

We have experienced ROI using this solution. We have been able to define our architecture on Azure Cloud with Data Factory, Synapse and DNS private endpoints. This has saved costs.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We have an enterprise license agreement with Microsoft. Their pricing is competitive. I would rate it a three and a half out of five.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.
