Amazon AWS and Akamai Connected Cloud (Linode) are prominent in the cloud service space. AWS has a more comprehensive feature set due to its extensive ecosystem and scalability options.
Features: AWS offers services like EC2 for scalable virtual servers, RDS for managed databases, and VPC for custom network configurations. Its pay-as-you-go pricing model complements a robust ISV ecosystem. Linode focuses on simplicity and cost-effectiveness, offering a streamlined, hands-on service with support for various Linux distributions and easy server management.
Room for Improvement: AWS’s pricing structure is complex and confusing, with intricate IAM policies that can complicate management. Occasional service outages and a need for enhanced UI design and user education are noted. Linode lacks managed databases and features like seamless backup integration, role-based access control, and additional global data center presence, hindering potential business expansion.
Ease of Deployment and Customer Service: AWS provides a versatile deployment model suitable for public, private, and hybrid clouds, yet its customer service can lag in responsiveness. Linode, in contrast, focuses on public and private clouds with a more responsive customer service, ideal for smaller users seeking personalized support, though lacking AWS’s global scale.
Pricing and ROI: AWS’s pay-as-you-go model offers high ROI through scalability but can incur hidden costs due to its complexity. It requires careful financial oversight to prevent expenses from spiraling. Linode presents a simpler and more predictable pricing model, appealing to cost-conscious users with its lack of hidden fees and competitive pricing, particularly for small businesses and developers.
They were very responsive to my issue.

The scalability of Amazon AWS is excellent.
Amazon AWS provides strong scalability features, but the scaling process could be made more straightforward.
The main area for improvement is the lack of a backup feature to the local hard disk or storage.

It would be useful to have the option to sort or group by tags on the domains page.
When using scripts for APIs to fetch data, they don't match the data exactly with the request.
Amazon AWS could improve its user interface to make it more user-friendly, especially for people who are not highly technical.
I find Akamai Connected Cloud (Linode)'s pricing very competitive.
After three to four years, if you are not managing it correctly, you will be paying more than an on-premise solution, which applies to all cloud providers, so you must regularly maintain and manage for efficiency.
Currently, Amazon AWS is known to be on the higher price range because popular and in-demand services often come at a premium.
Akamai Connected Cloud (Linode) is easy to use and has a fair price, making it accessible and straightforward, which is crucial when compared to other complex solutions.
Their support is really good. I can ask anything at any time, and they are able to resolve issues like reinstating deleted Linodes.
I use the backup features as my main benefit from Akamai Connected Cloud (Linode), and since my business is small, I don't need more than this.
One aspect I appreciate in Amazon AWS is their support team, which is excellent.
Their infrastructure is robust, allowing for increased capacity as user volume grows.
