An easy-to-use automation solution with satisfying customer support
Sometimes, while getting data from a third-party product, like data sources that are not present in your system, Alteryx works a bit slowly. Even if you have a good configuration and you are pulling data from an SQL server like SAP, then the solution also has a slow work process. It shouldn't be that much slow if you are pulling ten thousand records, it should not take thirty minutes.

Intuitive interface and documentation make it simple to build jobs and APIs and logging helps pinpoint and resolve issues quickly
Talend is doing a lot of work at the moment, and it's not there yet, but the whole platform could be managed in a SaaS-type environment. You still need to have the Studio running on a virtual desktop or a PC. They will get to be able to do the whole thing inside your browser, so you don't need to install anything locally. It's down the track, and it's the nirvana that we were looking for in Boomi. But the biggest challenge they have is that the platform is so focused on the Studio for all of its development. They'll probably get there, but they have such a mature Studio client that it's a huge amount of work to get all of that functionality into a browser or SaaS platform. That's pretty much the biggest flaw with the Talend environment—being reliant on the Studio, which needed to be on a local machine. The only other thing is that you have to integrate into an API gateway. We're in Azure, so we use Microsoft Azure Gateway. It doesn't come with its own gateway, which is another sort of big plus side that we saw in Boomi. Talend isn't quite there yet with the API gateway. Other than that, it's bloody hard to find something because it just seems to be all good.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is user-friendly."
"It has an easy setup process."
"It helps them to create customized workflows, transform data, perform calculations, and consolidate multiple data sources into a target database."
"We use Alteryx Designer for analytics. It's quite helpful because once we set it up, we don't have to manually update or process data repeatedly. It saves time, especially for financial reporting, which is typically done monthly or quarterly. Once we set it up initially, we only need to make occasional updates if necessary."
"The features I found most valuable are the preparation features – the Join and the Transform."
"The product is very stable. The performance is reliable."
"The functionality of drag and drop is the most valuable. It is a very user-friendly tool that can be understood easily. My teams also work with other solutions, such as Integration Services, and these solutions are very difficult for people who don't have technical knowledge."
"The product offers very good analytics."
"The product is easy to install and configure. It is one of the best tools for data integration."
"Open Studio's best features are that it's user-friendly, even for beginners, and very easy to implement."
"The most valuable feature for me when it comes to this solution is that it's easy to use."
"You can use Talend SDK to develop your own components and add them to the product."
"The Talend Studio connected to the Talend MDM (Master Data Management) is the most valuable feature. Talend Studio is used to create a job stream that connects to multiple data sources, matches, compares or creates a golden record for overall identification. It also has a good catalogue of objects that can be dragged and dropped for building models."
"The standout feature for me is the user-friendly nature of the components."
"It is user-friendly and the interface is good."
"The drag-and-drop feature in the interface is very good."

Cons

"It would be simpler if they provided a component where you could simply enter some parameters and see the results."
"Alteryx's data science and machine learning capabilities are where it loses out to DataIQ."
"An improvement for Alteryx Designer would be faster bug fixes and updates."
"The price of the product is an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required."
"The actual usage part of it needs to be explained more. It's too vague right now."
"The only thing is sometimes it can be a bit slow."
"The product could offer more connectors and more databases with support for the in-database function."
"If the price were reduced then it would be more competitive."
"I think my biggest problem with the tool is that the errors are very hard to debug."
"Inter-version compatibility is a problem, and migration projects between versions are required."
"I rate Talend Open Studio's stability an eight out of ten. Talend has some problems sometimes."
"It needs better installation configuration for other databases. Although the installation allows you to select another database, this doesn't mean that all connection points in the application point to the database selected. You actually need to do a search through the entire install to locate the configuration settings and change them."
"Technical support and customer service need to be improved."
"The user interface could be made simpler."
"Talend Open Studio's interface does not provide a good experience...I would like to see better documentation and a more enhanced graphical interface in Talend Open Studio."
"There is a need for mastery in some areas."
