Event tracking has become smoother and data analytics provide clear insights for user actions
Amazon OpenSearch Service is not providing the processing feature directly. From Amazon OpenSearch Service, we are actually maintaining the AWS SQS, the queue service, which is responsible for providing information about what data has to be modified. So using that SQS, we're actually providing it, but we're not directly using Amazon OpenSearch Service for keeping data to other data pipeline thing. So far we didn't use it for any machine learning purposes, but in future, we have plans to extend or implement this feature. Since AWS itself is secure and Amazon OpenSearch Service is a part of this entire ecosystem, it becomes much easier for security purposes. From the validation point of view, Amazon OpenSearch Service itself provides easy to communicate APIs and up-to-date documents, which is much beneficial. For example, if I'm missing anything, I can directly go and check the documentation. That is actually much easier. I would rate it as really good so far. It's much faster. For our local machine, we can also use a kind of replica of Amazon OpenSearch Service just for development purposes. That is another good feature. I would say for the encryption thing and also the user access control management, it's much faster. For some of these hashing algorithms, it also worked really well so far. To be honest, I didn't find any places where it can be improved. However, I think they could provide more abstraction. For example, still for searching, we have to write down the queries in a specific manner, such as for a specific JSON structure or in a specific way. Otherwise, they don't provide us the actual results. For at least this purpose, I think abstraction could be a bit easier or a bit improved. Other than that, right now there is the age of AI, so some kind of prompting could also work, but I'm not sure how it could be integrated. As a user, lower prices or reasonable pricing is always better. Those can be improved as well. However, it is good that most of the services including Amazon OpenSearch Service actually provide pay as you go pricing. So if there were a bit lower version or a bit less payment methodology, it might be much better.

Helps us detect cyber threats quickly and integrate multiple feeds effectively
Overall, the product is good, but when it comes to some infrastructure issues, we have to dig into more logs. There is no straightforward indication of an issue. Health check kind of dashboards are not available. More AI would help us, and more optimization, since security products run more queries. The AI module could suggest solutions, optimizing queries or workload balancing. If the product itself advises on running queries during peak times, it would be similar to what ChatGPT currently offers. We see quite a few issues on stability. Even last week, we faced something, and identifying bottlenecks is not easy. We need more SMEs, and there is no mechanism to tell us about indexer or search head issues. Self-monitoring dashboards could be beneficial. The technical support still requires more improvement. Often, primary support takes a lot of time and forwards most solutions to the engineering side. The primary support team has very limited knowledge to provide.

"In case there is a failure, Elastic manages everything well, and there no major downtime."
"Amazon OpenSearch Service has enhanced our organization's ability to store and search large amounts of data efficiently."
"The most valuable features of Amazon Elasticsearch are ease of use, native JSON, and efficiency. Additionally, handles many use cases and search grammar was useful."
"Its usability is the best part. It is easy for our developers to use if they want to search their logs, etc."
"The end-to-end visibility into our environment that Splunk provides is impressive. We just need to use it better."
"Can ingest data from various data sources, is very useful for organizations who are attempting to meet compliance requirements, and is able to fully configure and integrate various solutions into one tool and provide actionable results."
"The reporting aspect is good and it does what I need it to do."
"It's very flexible. If you look from the cloud implementation it is there. Reports are made quickly. Unlike other tools, it caters to all kinds of technical information on the front very easily. There's no need to put in any technical information. You can pull on the reports very easily, take action, and notify stakeholders."
"Splunk Enterprise Security is fast and well-documented, and user interface and user interaction are well-designed compared to other SIEM solutions."
"This is the right choice if you are looking for a platform that can combine all machine-generated data and use it for various use cases from different domains."
"We have majorly utilized Splunk Enterprise Security in SIEM and SOAR use cases, and the product is top-notch, with no problems."

Cons

"As a user, lower prices or reasonable pricing is always better."
"The pricing aspect is a concern. The service is way too costly. For the past month, I used only 30 to 40 MB of data, and the cost was $500. AWS could improve pricing."
"The price is fair yet leans towards the expensive side. I'd rate it five out of ten with respect to capabilities vs. cost."
"I would say that, basically, the configuration part is an area with a shortcoming...Some upgradation is required on the configuration side so that we can get to use it."
"They can enhance data visualization."
"The configuration should be more straightforward because we had to select a lot of things."
"I want to see a new feature in Amazon Elasticsearch Service that allows users to create default filters for filtered levels."
"In terms of data handling capabilities with Amazon OpenSearch Service, they can be complex and managing data in comparison to other SIM solutions is a major drawback, as it is very hard to handle the data."
"Free-floating panels in the dashboards are like a glass table."
"My biggest struggle with Splunk in general is memorizing all the commands. If I want to know which users have logged in between certain hours, I cannot write that query out. It would be helpful to have AI so that I can explain in simple terms what I want and then the search gives that back to me. I am waiting for that."
"The default threat intel feeds create many false positives and noise, which is counterproductive."
"The UI can be difficult to understand for non-technical people."
"It needs integration with a configuration management solution."
"It'd be really nice if Splunk Enterprise Security had a better and solid configuration guide."
"I find the graphical options really limited and you don't have enough control over how to display the data that you want to see."
"They can improve their support teams. They can also improve their capability of ingesting data from different IoT sources."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a community edition available and the price of the commercial offering is reasonable."
"Compared to other cloud platforms, it is manageable and not very expensive."
"The solution is not expensive, but priced averagely, I will say."
"You only pay for what you use."
"Setup cost is cheap: It is free, it is user-friendly, and it is fast."
"ROI is estimated at saving my team roughly 10 to 12 man hours per week in troubleshooting for our company as well as what our profits had been from our services of installing, configuring, and supporting other clients with the product."
"Splunk is expensive based on our current requirements, but it's obviously worth what we pay."
"The price of this solution is expensive. However, it has great features. If you want a great solution you need to pay a price matching the features."
"Pricing and licensing are quite high compared to other tools or SIEM tools, but the features justify it."
"I think we recently switched to the SVC pricing compared to the ingest pricing."
"The licensing is good, but the pricing absolutely needs some work. It is very high."
"Splunk is not a cheap solution and the license is billed annually."
