Ensure high availability with robust encryption and seamless backups
Amazon RDS provides data encryption using services like KMS, crucial for securing high-sensitive data and meeting compliance requirements such as HIPAA or PCI DSS. The best practices we've employed with RDS help design a well-architected framework, encompassing security, encryption, scalability with multi-availability zone deployment, and operational excellence with automated backups. RDS features, such as reserved instances, storage auto-scaling, monitoring with technologies like CloudWatch, and proxies, contribute to cost optimization. The solution enhances security with IAM authentication and offers high availability to end users.

Has improved performance by enabling smoother business operations and real-time data integration
I am satisfied with SAP HANA Cloud and don't see any room for improvement. I don't use SAP HANA Cloud's machine learning feature at this moment. Currently, we don't use SAP HANA Cloud's ability to support hybrid data landscapes in our organization. SAP HANA Cloud can integrate real-time analytics with transactional data processing in my businesses by connecting it with other systems such as government systems and HR systems for fingerprint recognition. We are already using BOBJ or SAP BW for predictive analytics, which is an old solution from SAP. My overall rating for SAP HANA Cloud is eight out of 10. The reason I don't give it a higher score is that there are some concerns related to security and certain features that I have not seen yet.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is that it is a fully managed database, where they handle most of the administrative tasks and leaves the users more time to concentrate on business."
"I found it to be a stable solution."
"Amazon RDS handles database backup mechanisms and patch management."
"The product's most valuable features are option groups, S3 integration, automated and scheduled snapshots, and cross-region replication."
"It is stable, scalable, and easy to deploy."
"Based on my experience, I would rate this solution a nine out of ten."
"The provisioning is much faster. You don't have to prepare hardware or install software. You just need to create an instance and you have a database."
"The solution’s scalability, usability, and availability are valuable to us."
"I would rate SAP HANA Cloud nine to ten out of ten."
"From my perspective, the best features of SAP HANA Cloud are that it's an ERP system connecting all departments together, making it a very smooth software for business operations."
"Using SAP HANA Cloud, we can replicate the data into HANA and use live data, which improves our business decision-making."
"The best features of SAP HANA Cloud are that its software is effective because it has tight integration between other functions, such as finance, materials, and sales."

Cons

"Amazon has a policy of automatically restarting the server every seven days."
"The product should support new databases."
"The technical support from Amazon could improve. I would rate them a six out of ten as they do not fully meet my expectations."
"User interface needs improvement for using IPS and CloudWatch to scale and utilize read replicas, enabling performance insights to view query formats where the bottlenecks occur, identifying the fixes, slow queries, and missing indexes, improving the security and monitoring with alerts."
"There are a few aspects of database management that have room for improvement. There are a few parameters in the solution that are a bit unclear at our end as it's not understandable."
"The setup might be a bit challenging for multi-level applications."
"When you are using it for the first time, it is a little bit hard to configure. The first-time configuration is not very easy. It should be easier to configure. Its installation should also be simpler. Currently, its installation is very complex. With SQL Server, we have access to the SQL Server analysis services and reporting services, but such services are not available with Amazon RDS."
"They should add a feature for manual SQL patching in RDS."
"The technical support from SAP is inadequate. We don't get timely responses, with support tickets taking more than 25 days to process."
"Regarding SAP HANA Cloud, one significant pain point is the lack of access to the database from the HANA Studio for developers."
"I see some weaknesses in SAP HANA Cloud regarding innovations, as they take their own time compared to what the market brings in with new features."
"SAP HANA Cloud requires extensive documentation before connecting with a human being to troubleshoot an issue."
"In future updates of SAP HANA Cloud, I would suggest some changes in the user interfaces to make it more user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The platform pricing is on the higher side, but given its capabilities and ease of use, it remains competitive."
"It is less expensive than SQL Server. We pay based on the usage on a monthly basis."
"if you don't know how to optimize and use your tool properly, the cost might hurt you."
"Amazon RDS is an expensive solution."
"The product is expensive."
"In my case, MySQL is free, and if there are any costs, then it is much less than other solutions since all such things usually come bundled with the hardware."
"The solution is expensive."
"The prices for different regions are different."
