Ensure high availability with robust encryption and seamless backups
Amazon RDS provides data encryption using services like KMS, crucial for securing high-sensitive data and meeting compliance requirements such as HIPAA or PCI DSS. The best practices we've employed with RDS help design a well-architected framework, encompassing security, encryption, scalability with multi-availability zone deployment, and operational excellence with automated backups. RDS features, such as reserved instances, storage auto-scaling, monitoring with technologies like CloudWatch, and proxies, contribute to cost optimization. The solution enhances security with IAM authentication and offers high availability to end users.

Offers security and good performance
Price-wise, the tool is expensive, and I feel it is an area where improvements are needed. Oracle Database as a Service is not as popular as other tools because we use AWS and GCP. Oracle is okay in terms of performance for banking businesses and some big companies. As I use the tool in Heineken, I know Oracle is an okay security solution. We use and deploy some applications and features from Oracle that are better than what others offer. The data in the tool is actually stored in the production part, so it is always kept a secret. I don't think that AI has been integrated into the tool. The AI used by Oracle is not as strong as that used by AWS. I recommend the tool to others, especially banking, finance, and insurance companies where the security needs to be better. There is maintenance for the tool required, but I don't know which company does it for our organization. I rate the tool a ten out of ten.

Cons

"The support team of Amazon RDS provides us with some links to go through whenever we face some issues, but it doesn't work for us."
"Currently, we are using Fargate. Instead of that, we are planning to use EC2 instances, but we are facing some problems, and we are unable to enable NAT gateway for Elastic Load Balancer. When we enable auto-scaling, the instance count increases, and we get IP addresses dynamically. We need to whitelist the IPs of these instances, but there is no option to whitelist those IPs in Amazon RDS. We need one static IP that we can assign to ELB so that we can whitelist this IP."
"I like using Amazon RDS because it offers quick operations for me. However, there are times when understanding how to use some of the services can be challenging, even with documentation. If I could add a feature, I'd improve navigation for related services."
"The product should support new databases."
"Amazon RDS should have a more user-friendly graphical user interface and include better database management options."
"Amazon cannot guarantee the stability of some extensions, and there is a need for different extensions to meet PCI requirements."
"The only thing that needs improvement would be the pricing of the solution."
"I also don't think it's very scalable."
"The solution can be improved by reducing the pricing, making the deployment less complex, and increasing security."
"Improvement in Oracle DBaaS could focus on enhancing performance monitoring and reporting tools."
"The solution’s price could be reduced."
"Oracle Database as a Service is very convenient to use. However, we need to know to which schema we want it to connect specifically, and what are the username and password. The solution requires some basic knowledge of SQL RP and SQL Oracle to use it."
"The area in this solution that could be improved is that currently, it's difficult to do the setup. You need to do all kinds of command lines to get it set up. If that setup becomes easier and easily manageable, that would be great."
"Some of the technical features could be improved. They have a problem with some of the object types. I think this is one of the issues which is needed to be improved."
"We'd like to see better support for non-structured data and in-memory load."
"For many companies, the standard version is not enough. They need to move to the enterprise version. However, there is a large price jump between the two."
