Room for improvement in data handling leads to enhanced cost-effective data management performance
It would be beneficial if MongoDB Atlas could better support OLTP aspects and data frames, as well as enhance its capabilities for data pipelines and visualization dashboards. Furthermore, supporting the medallion architecture could be a valuable addition, and incorporating improved spatial and vector handling for geographical data could make it more competitive. Enhancing vector processing for AI capabilities would also be critical.

Offers security and good performance
Price-wise, the tool is expensive, and I feel it is an area where improvements are needed. Oracle Database as a Service is not as popular as other tools because we use AWS and GCP. Oracle is okay in terms of performance for banking businesses and some big companies. As I use the tool in Heineken, I know Oracle is an okay security solution. We use and deploy some applications and features from Oracle that are better than what others offer. The data in the tool is actually stored in the production part, so it is always kept a secret. I don't think that AI has been integrated into the tool. The AI used by Oracle is not as strong as that used by AWS. I recommend the tool to others, especially banking, finance, and insurance companies where the security needs to be better. There is maintenance for the tool required, but I don't know which company does it for our organization. I rate the tool a ten out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"As a tester, it was easy to validate data, access data, make active run queries against it, and retrieve data from it."
"What I found most valuable in MongoDB Atlas is its Elasticsearch feature. It also has high availability, so it's stable."
"The product allows us to easily set up and store large amounts of unstructured data."
"The product is simple to use and enterprise-ready. It is also open-source."
"It can store data as a flat file, similar to a file system."
"It is nice because our developers create tables whenever they need to sync data."
"It's a good solution for NoSQL databases."
"The speed of it is the most valuable feature."
"In terms of features, I find Automated Storage Management (ASM) and Data Guard most helpful for improving data security and reliability."
"The most valuable aspect of the solution is its security, performance, and availability."
"The solution's technical support is good."
"As a database administrator, it has a lot of features to help you manage the database and the backup."
"The solution is fast and easy."
"I like the solution's performance and ease of development."
"The initial setup is not too difficult, and on a scale from one to ten with one being the most difficult and ten being the easiest, I'd rate it at eight. The initial deployment can be done in an hour."
"The scalability and high availability are the most valuable features of Oracle DaaS."

Cons

"A few areas that we have noticed as being problematic with the MongoDB Atlas include user access to the platform. Currently, it is difficult to restrict and control what actions a user can perform within the solution, which poses a challenge from an internal auditing perspective."
"When I edit a document from a document, a lot of clicking is involved, like changing data type manually from a drop-down. It would be super nice if I could just edit the document in a JSON format. The JSON-based document editor should have a multi-language feature. Also, it would be great if there was a connect option from Google Looker Studio."
"The import and export process needs improvement, i.e., getting in and out. Moving data from other databases into MongoDB, along with indexing, was challenging."
"Going forward, we would like to have pure AWS Cloud (native) storage instead regular storage on the AWS integration side."
"The biggest challenge we all have is an application layer level. One node is sitting in the APAC region, another node is sitting in the US and UK region. The seamless replication has to be lightning fast, but we haven't tested the scalability yet."
"The product's data aggregation feature needs to work faster."
"Customer support needs improvement knowledge-wise."
"The cost needs improvement."
"Oracle Database as a Service is a good product but costly. Scaling it is challenging."
"Oracle Database as a Service is very convenient to use. However, we need to know to which schema we want it to connect specifically, and what are the username and password. The solution requires some basic knowledge of SQL RP and SQL Oracle to use it."
"I would like to improve the stability of the Oracle database."
"Oracle Database as a Service could improve the provisioning. You have to recreate on-premise hardware environments in the cloud, it was not very intuitive."
"Oracle Database as a Service could improve by reducing the price."
"Oracle Database as a Service is difficult to set up. They should make it easier."
"I have had a hard time finding some documentation. There should provide easier accessible documentation for Oracle Database as a Service."
"The solution provides the same type of RDBMS engine for all use cases. They need to provide different products that will be suitable for all use cases. The solution does not support the documentation of databases."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is fairly priced. I rate the pricing a seven out of ten."
"The solution is fairly priced."
"The pricing is acceptable for enterprise tier."
"I am using the free version of the solution."
"The solution is expensive overall. It does not require a license but if you want the support then you will need to purchase the license. They use a pay-as-you-go model and you are able to receive some discounts by making longer usage commitments."
"The pricing is not that expensive, but it can be, especially when we have deployed it across multiple zones."
"It is an open-source platform."
"We're currently using the Atlas for the night and don't require a license. However, it can be a problem if you want to use their enterprise environment. Then you need to purchase the license."
"If your organization is not making that much money, then I don't think you should use the enterprise or any other expensive versions of the solution. I recommend the tool for bigger companies."
"Oracle Database as a Service is an expensive product."
"In my opinion, it's not cheap, but every business can decide for itself."
"The cost for Oracle Database as a Service is higher than that for other similar solutions."
"The price depends on the solution you choose: standard, enterprise, or high performance. For example, enterprise can start between 0.4 an hour up to 1,800. Additional fees also depends on what package you choose. Your feels will be different if you choose the standard, enterprise, high performance, or extreme package. You will pay in relation to what option you ask for. The price is very good if you compare it to other databases."
"The solution's price is reasonable but depends upon the negotiation."
"The price of Oracle Database as a Service could be better."
"Oracle Database as a Service's pricing is good."
