Helps to move away from manual tasks and offers wide platform support and web-based interface
Customers want to move away from manual monitoring and checking processes. Automating these processes helps in time-saving and reduces human error. When you automate business processes, it reduces mistakes. It eliminates the risk of manual errors such as typos. There is a 20% to 30% reduction in human error. It fulfills all the needs when it comes to visibility and control across various operating platforms. It is the perfect product for managing processes that span multiple operating platforms. Automic Automation has the widest platform support compared to other products, such as Control-M, Tivoli from IBM, or Stonebranch. It definitely helps with compliance processes. We have had a lot of customers for two years with a focus on compliance, and it works. They were successful. Due to the fact that our customers can automate a lot of things, it reduces operating costs. It is hard to give a number because the savings are different for each customer. If a customer never had any automation, there could be about 80% savings after implementing Automic Automation, whereas for a customer who already has automated tasks, the difference will be less by adding Automic Automation. They might see 5% to 10% more savings. Automic Automation helps improve our ability to meet SLAs. In the recent versions, SLA management has been integrated, which previously was an external component. Because a lot of customers used it and asked Broadcom to implement SLA management into the workload engine, Broadcom included it. We see more and more customers running their SLA management via the Automic Automation product.

Helps us manage complex workloads, reduce our workload failure rates, and save us time
The visibility and control features are somewhat limited. This is a recognized weakness, but thee vendor is currently revamping the user interface to address it. While the current UI is a bit outdated, it's undergoing improvement. AutoSys Workload Automation has some areas for improvement, particularly in housekeeping and product maintenance. These tasks are currently quite manual and labor-intensive for our team. Additionally, the reporting and forecasting functionalities could be more robust. One area for improvement with AutoSys Workload Automation is that it comprises several distinct tools configured to work together. This necessitates familiarity with multiple tools for effective solution management. Consequently, it can sometimes lack a sense of cohesiveness as a unified solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features are its robustness, it's highly scalable, and it's easy to implement."
"The solution includes many features and is scalable and stable."
"The scalability is very good. We can scale it however we want."
"I would rate Automic Automation a ten out of ten."
"I like the connectors Automic has provided or the agents that give me the flexibility to connect to various source and target systems. It's pretty easy to manage complex workloads using Automic. Its user interface makes it easier for us to manage."
"It enables us to build automation which is flexible in a controlled environment."
"It will improve how we function. It is just meeting a functional need in a maybe more agile way; it is faster."
"They just talked about adding support for hundreds of thousands of agents, and I know it goes up to about a thousand clients per engine, so you can do a lot with that. It's a very scalable solution."
"The benefits I have seen from AutoSys Workload Automation are significant; I would say it is about ease of administration."
"We get better reports than we use to have."
"I prefer AutoSys over the other ones out there for ease of use, ease of understanding, and getting people to understand how the tool works."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the functions are easy to use."
"AutoSys Workload Automation is scalable."
"I find that it provides better agility in regards to job execution features."
"It is stable, it works, and it does what it is supposed to."
"It gives us flexibility when doing releases. We can make changes for one day in a PDS member, since we stage our jobs by date, and the next day the normal job definitions are run."

Cons

"Most of our issues are related to the system, not the job scheduling, such as, bugs and unexpected downtime of the application or database."
"An area for improvement would be SQL performance. While tracing SQL traffic, we noticed a lot of commands that cause contention/locks as well as forced waits. The efficiency of the SQL could be greatly improved (in some cases by simply replacing nested Selects and using NOLOCK hints)."
"In talking with other customers as well, they would like to see a few enhancements done where you can pull in outside data sources to get a cumulative view from one centralized place."
"The new UI feels unready. It makes your browsers crash."
"I would like to see more stability in the product and have the transition between versions be more seamless."
"Anything related to the enhancement process is poor at best and should be more transparent. They should consider an open-source model where users can more easily see requests."
"I'd like AI to be able to consider how to monitor volume based SLAs as opposed to time based SLAs."
"The scalability is limited by the SQL in the background, and that is a problem."
"The GUI/Workstation is weak and needs to be improved. CA is working on this right now."
"They could do better supporting it. They have too many of the same type of products, so sometimes it doesn't get as much attention as it should."
"We have to escalate through channels to get to somebody who knows what's going on. It takes time that we do not necessarily have."
"It lacks support and integration with cloud computing platforms."
"The graphical interface can be improved."
"The WCC could be improved."
"We had a few issues, however, the issues were more on the infrastructure rather than with the application itself."
"I am not sure whether it is our limitation or a tool limitation because we haven't yet explored it, but whenever we look for different types of reporting, we have some limitations in getting those. It could be because of the way we have set it up internally in our enterprise, but it would be helpful if we can customize the reporting features and some of the alerts that can go out. When we connect enterprise systems, each one looks for a different use case, and if we can get different types of reporting, it will be helpful."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We came to a very good deal, but it took us three years to finalize."
"Broadcom has recently changed its licensing model. I do not deal with pricing, but from what I heard from customers is that due to the increased pricing, some of them are thinking of reducing tasks in Automic to have fewer executions. Others are thinking of replacing Automic Automation."
"Its price is way up there with BMC. It is a little bit on the expensive side."
"We receive time efficiency from this product."
"The cost of the solution depends on the number of systems that are being orchestrated."
"Automic Automation's pricing is excellent, especially in comparison to similar solutions."
"This is a support system for us, not our core business, so we purchased this product inexpensively."
"It has helped us reduce costs."
"The price of this solution is reasonable and there is an annual license required."
"It is overpriced."
"People need to pay attention to how they use their ESP agents on the distributed platform. That's where some of the cost comes in, based on how many you need or how many you use."
"The pricing needs to be improved. Some of my client's complained that it was too expensive."
"There is an annual license to use AutoSys Workload Automation."
"Validate how many agents you need beforehand."
"I certainly think the pricing is worth the value."
"CA pricing has been a problem, and not looked upon favorably here at all."
