Automation test development becomes accessible and effective for functional testers
Tricentis Tosca is a codeless tool, making it easy for everyone to understand the transition of how to develop scenarios or test cases. In Tricentis Tosca, analyzing failures is straightforward because every time it fails somewhere, I get the screenshot, which helps me analyze how and why it failed. It has all the modules, including some pre-built ones that can be reused efficiently. Compared to other code tools such as Selenium, where I used to develop one script in one day, with Tricentis Tosca I can easily develop one script in four hours or three hours, saving four to five hours in a day.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In terms of improving the way the organization functions, it gives us lot of visibility into what features are getting released when."
"Service virtualization is the most valuable feature to me; it helped us to start the performance testing activities much earlier in the testing life cycle."
"The tool always had some additional features included in each of its releases and it fixed the bugs of the previous release."
"I like the fact that it allows us to focus on just the system under test."
"The ability to do parallel development and testing reduces our costs for duplicating environments, improving the productivity of our developers, and bringing products faster to market."
"The product made a huge impact in the market which includes many solutions which offer virtualization, performance testing, pathfinder, and functional testing, and development and testing became faster, improving CSR and ROI's for our customers."
"I would recommend others to use CA Service Virtualization for all their virtualization needs as it is easy to use and the support provided via the CA Communities is also great."
"You have to go check this tool out; the innovation is amazing, as CA has continued to add to the services and transports that it supports and has built all of the enterprise capabilities into the product as well."
"We have seen an ROI because we are able to automate test scripts much quicker."
"This solution is very easy to learn and any non-programmer or manual tester, with little experience in automation, can pick it up quite easily."
"It's a simple tool, particularly in terms of system testing. You can also convert and automate using Tricentis Tosca with ease."
"The use of automation is most valuable."
"I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten. We have enterprise-level customers."
"I am very happy using the product and also whenever I have asked for remote sessions, the agents always agreed."
"We decided to go with Testsuite because you can integrate manual test cases and you can see the reports in a nice way and see how the test case is going in the requirement section."
"Tricentis Tosca has completely met our requirements."

Cons

"I would like to see a completely web-oriented automated test case design (currently need to use desktop application called DevTest Workstation)."
"We had to implement an external service catalog. We put it in ServiceNow. I would like to see an integrated service catalog."
"As of today, none of the Microsoft technologies are supported."
"ROI is NOT that great since the product license is expensive."
"It consumes more memory and makes the system very slow, which was stopping simultaneous execution."
"I think the biggest improvement can come in usability. It's still very complex to use."
"Stability is getting better. When we first started with it, there were some bugs."
"Usability in the prior version that we used, version 8.2, usability is not great."
"The solution should work to try to lessen the cost of the solution. Right now, using it is costly for companies such as ours."
"You need to spend much more time learning the tool and how to use it, compared to others."
"The integration with mobile testing could be useful."
"The product, at times, does not recognize objects, especially in web applications."
"The support we received from Tricentis Tosca was good, but it can improve."
"Most of us have had the complaint that loop statements are missing, without which testing in reality was difficult, as many times test scenarios needed to be run in iteration and version 8.4 has included this feature."
"Their license management should be improved. One of our customers is a global customer. They want to use one licensed server and then split the licenses based on the different users of the different business units, but currently, there is only one license server that everybody can access. There is no control, and that's why sometimes congestion can happen."
"Needs a UI to visualize the test case development."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
"There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."
"There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
"I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable."
"Pricing could be better."
"Although the product is slightly more expensive than tools, its automation capabilities and reduced scripting needs justify the cost."
"The pricing of the solution comes as part of our Tosca bundle."
"Tricentis Tosca is not expensive at all."
"Pricing for Tricentis Tosca could be improved because it's very expensive."
"There is an annual cost for Tricentis."
"I would like to see better costing packs. There are several features but USD $11,000 for one license is expensive."
"There are two licenses: single user and multiple user. A multiple-user license means that several people can work together on one project and collaborate on code stored in a central location. A single-user license is for people working alone on a one particular application. It's much cheaper than a multi-user workspace. If you are getting a large volume of licenses for an enterprise, you can probably negotiate a discount, but I'm not sure about that."
