Tricentis Tosca is a codeless tool, making it easy for everyone to understand the transition of how to develop scenarios or test cases. In Tricentis Tosca, analyzing failures is straightforward because every time it fails somewhere, I get the screenshot, which helps me analyze how and why it failed. It has all the modules, including some pre-built ones that can be reused efficiently. Compared to other code tools such as Selenium, where I used to develop one script in one day, with Tricentis Tosca I can easily develop one script in four hours or three hours, saving four to five hours in a day.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"If we didn't have that CA Service Virtualization, we would have to run our performance tests during the night, because that's when the mainframe is least used."
"Thus it saves a lot of my time and if I am using any third-party services, then it saves me money as well."
"Ability to vary the responses very easily (randomize, pick-lists, etc.)."
"The most valuable feature is definitely how quickly you can get up and mock something that’s not completely done."
"You can create virtual services from a live recording or you can even take raw traffic and convert that into request/response pairs, and you can create an entire virtual service from just those simple little files, and that's super awesome when that all works out."
"This helps my team in virtualizing responses so we are not dependent on the systems when they are down."
"There are several areas that are easily configurable."
"Using the power of CA Service Virtualization, it is now possible to perform integration testing on every application build."
"From our clients perspective (e.g. large banks, government organisations etc.), it has allowed them to decrease their total execution effort, improve their time to market, and increase their total risk coverage."
"The tool can be handled without any knowledge in parameterisation, especially the TestCaseDesign which makes the tool mighty and stable - even when releases in the tested software are subjected to deep code changes."
"Tricentis Tosca is a codeless tool, making it easy for everyone to understand the transition of how to develop scenarios or test cases."
"I am impressed with the product's script test."
"We decided to go with Testsuite because you can integrate manual test cases and you can see the reports in a nice way and see how the test case is going in the requirement section."
"Compared to other tools we have been looking at, you don't have to be a programmer to operate it, though it helps. It also a product that can be used by business people."
"The platform's most valuable feature is model-based testing, which is effective for test case design and optimization."
"Before implementing Tosca, the average time that we took for completing regression was about four days, and after we started using Tosca, it has been reduced to six hours."

Cons

"I would rate customer service from CA to be very low AFTER you have purchased the software."
"I'd like to see more of the newer technologies included in there, looking mainly from a mobile perspective, possibly, so you can virtualize some of the aspects that we're going to be doing for mobile testing."
"It's not really meant for Services Testing and reporting functionality from the CA SV console - it's a very basic one."
"Pricing/licenses are very expensive, especially performance VSE, which is kind of foolish, especially if you use DevTest as a test driver too."
"Parsers, look and feel need improvement."
"The solution required a lot of CPU memory, but using enough PC OZU fixed the problems."
"For Virtualization, when the file size is too large (more than 1 GB) it takes more time for deployment and some times the tool hangs."
"Cross-browser support is not that good for that portal."
"Tricentis Tosca currently does not support any mobile testing and can be improved."
"Do not buy this tool if you simply need a driver for your automation, as open source solutions (e.g. Selenium), or technology specific solutions are more suitable here."
"Many times when we have raised a ticket, we did not get an urgent response."
"I think the new version is not so stable, and that’s what's stopping us from moving over to it."
"Their license management should be improved. One of our customers is a global customer. They want to use one licensed server and then split the licenses based on the different users of the different business units, but currently, there is only one license server that everybody can access. There is no control, and that's why sometimes congestion can happen."
"The issue is that even though the components are tightly integrated, object identification can be quite slow, sometimes taking five to ten seconds."
"When using it with iOS devices, I cannot start automation directly and must use a remote machine."
"I personally feel like the pricing is a little bit on the high end."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable."
"There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."
"There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
"I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
"Expensive, but for long-term projects, it is paying back."
"It is expensive."
"I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive. It is on the higher side."
"Tosca is expensive. I don't see small and medium customers going for it. It's always large enterprises that have a big pocket. It is very expensive as compared to the other tools that we have in the market. They should reduce the price by half, and if they do that, they would do better business. From the competition perspective, other solutions are at a pretty similar level. UiPath is also very expensive. One thing that I always wanted was a short-term consumption license. With Tricentis, the biggest challenge is that you have to go for a minimum of one year license, and they also try to sell you a three-year license. It would be good if people can get a three-month or four-month consumption license."
"There are different types of licenses: enterprise or professional. The cost varies."
"I am satisfied with the cost."
"They are probably more expensive than other comparable tools, but you also get the full suite of testing tools."
"A competitor of Tricentis Tosca: Katalon Studio, is very similar and offers lower pricing, though Tricentis Tosca offers more features and benefits."
