Can be used for the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance
We use it for the virtualization of third-party APIs for performance testing. Our second use case is related to the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party terminal insurance, which is used for insurance clients In the case of the virtualization of TCP/IP protocols for third-party…

End-to-end regression automation has accelerated delivery and now secures complex test data
I think Tosca can be improved, particularly in AI capabilities because right now Tosca does not have any strong API capabilities. It has some AI features in the newer version, but many organizations have not adopted these due to version-specific problems, as some are still using older versions. From an AI point of view, they can enhance reliability since the world is moving towards AI, and every tool must be integrated. While Tosca has made attempts, I have not used them and they are not widely adopted, so they are stuck in the testing phase in my organization. I would also mention that while I am currently using Tosca Mobile, the loading part and connectivity issues need improvement. They should better integrate AI features that are already present but not widely used across many organizations. Reliability on the AI aspect needs enhancement for practical application. From the perspective of governance and security, I believe Tosca can develop its own LLM or leverage third-party LLMs while maintaining security and risk management regarding client data. Many companies prefer using Tosca due to data security, which is crucial. An in-house LLM could significantly enhance its debugging power and provide helpful solutions upon test case failure.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"CA provides very good support for their product, and was extremely helpful in both of the organizations where I installed the product."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to virtualize almost any web service which allows us to perform testing and speed up our development."
"You can create virtual services from a live recording or you can even take raw traffic and convert that into request/response pairs, and you can create an entire virtual service from just those simple little files, and that's super awesome when that all works out."
"In terms of improving the way the organization functions, it gives us lot of visibility into what features are getting released when."
"Some of the virtual services that have been built by this solution will support somewhere around 2000 to 3000GPS perfectly."
"The most valuable features include the capability to use other program languages such as PLSQR, JAVA, .NET, which is important because whenever the tool is limited you can extend it by writing your own code."
"I would recommend others to use CA Service Virtualization for all their virtualization needs as it is easy to use and the support provided via the CA Communities is also great."
"It is a very good tool with support for a variety of protocols and has a user-friendly UI and other scripting features as well."
"We are satisfied with the support of Tricentis."
"We can also create customized functions. For example, if something isn't supported in Tricentis Tosca Commander, we can create our own function to integrate it with Tosca Commander, so we can utilize it and integrate with the macros."
"You can quickly build automated testing, manage it, and have it run on a regular basis to ensure that there are no issues."
"The XScan was great because it was a handy way to automate on a surface which made it very easy and simple."
"It was very apparent that Tosca was an all-in-one solution because we could do database testing, UI, and API testing, while the other tools we evaluated each focused on only one area."
"The automation testing functionality is very powerful."
"We switched to Tosca because it's a no-code solution, so people without coding skills can also use it, and if you have an in-depth understanding of the Tosca framework, you can easily automate any complex application."
"It has helped teams within our organization become more aware of the testing requirements in terms of risk and priority."

Cons

"I would really like more relevant online documentation."
"It is not a stable solution."
"It does require a higher level of support. This is not the kind of tool that you can just haul off just go make decisions on."
"Cross-browser support is not that good for that portal."
"I would like to see a completely web-oriented automated test case design (currently need to use desktop application called DevTest Workstation)."
"The user interface and usability of the tool is not the best. They could definitely be improved upon in the next release."
"We had to implement an external service catalog. We put it in ServiceNow. I would like to see an integrated service catalog."
"For Virtualization, when the file size is too large (more than 1 GB) it takes more time for deployment and some times the tool hangs."
"Security, UI, and basic performance improvements could be done to the product to enhance its use."
"Running the regression – if multiple lists are executed at once or if a list contains 200+ tests, it’s a pain to stop the execution."
"I feel that the Tosca tool should be improved for handling Siebel applications. Tosca doesn't handle Siebel applications as well as it handles other platform applications."
"Tricentis Tosca's performance could be better. Sometimes when we are remapping or when it is loading it can take a lot of time. There are free solutions that have better performance in this area."
"One thing to improve in Tricentis Tosca is that it's not compatible with Excel based forms. Another area for improvement is that the tool is not compatible with OpenText applications. The support and licensing cost for it also need improvement. The tool also needs cloud support, as it's currently on-premises only."
"When using it with iOS devices, I cannot start automation directly and must use a remote machine."
"The Support TDD and BDD could be improved."
"Some issues with stability, but those are minor errors."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I don't have the exact dollar amount, but we have spent close to $1,000,000 for a three-year agreement, for an enterprise level."
"There is a yearly licensing cost, and I would give it a four out of five."
"I think the pricing is quite fair because this solution provides a lot of functionalities, and is quite stable."
"There are additional fees for advanced-level technical support."
"The pricing is high, but altogether it offers you the ability to automate all sorts of applications: desktop, web, mobile, etc."
"The licensing cost for Tricentis Tosca is expensive. It has multiple features, but to use all of its features, you have to pay for additional licenses."
"The price of Tricentis Tosca is approximately Є10,000 for one license. However, it used to be much cheaper, but they changed their license structure. It used to be a structure where if you bought a license you would receive one year of free support and maintenance. Now they only have a yearly license, and that is expensive."
"The tool is expensive. It has become overpriced, especially after Tricentis Tosca grew as a company. Initially, we bought a license with an annual support fee, which wasn't too expensive. However, they changed the model, and now we have to purchase a license yearly, which has become quite costly."
"Tricentis Tosca is an expensive tool and the licensing is not simple."
"We have around 200 [concurrent] licenses and the cost around $1.4 million a year."
"There are different types of licenses: enterprise or professional. The cost varies."
"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis."
