Simple, stable, and allows us to handle data from various sources, but needs enterprise features for logging, recoverability, and monitoring
If I could give any advice to the guys who are developing it, I would suggest them to really look at the enterprise features, such as being able to log what's going on, being able to capture the current state of processing, and being able to recover from error situations. So, there should be a focus on logging, recoverability, and monitoring. We should be able to monitor what's going on, and in case of any issues, we should be able to recover and restart processing and other things. For scalability and performance, I would probably suggest the Pushdown feature so that you can do the transformation directly on the data source. You do not need to do that calculation within the ETL server. For this, you should be aware of the type of data because each database or kind of storage, such as Hadoop, has its own ANSI standard or language, such as SQL. Microsoft, Oracle, and IBM have their own language. Based on the feedback that I have got, its initial setup takes some time. It could perhaps be simpler.

Has supported building flexible data pipelines and streamlined ETL orchestration
There should be a dedicated support team for Talend Open Studio. We do have a support team, but at times it is critical for us to fix certain things within one or two hours. Usually, the support team takes some 12 hours, which is the standard edition of support. If we could have round-the-clock support, we would be able to resolve many issues which we encounter during the development part. The initial setup for Talend Open Studio is a little complex. We need to have a dedicated person who has an understanding of Talend Open Studio as a tool. It takes some level of expertise, so it is not an easy process, but once we have a dedicated associate who is knowledgeable in that particular field, it becomes comparatively easier.

"This solution has improved our overall time to value for data ingestion."
"The initial setup of the product was very easy."

"Talend, on the other hand, allows you to expand very easily."
"A helpful feature for us is the integration with NoSQL databases."
"Overall, we have been happy with the product and, from a data management perspective, the data preparation, data stewardship, and the other features that Talend has, including the MDM, are all extremely important for today's organization."
"It was a fundamental tool for the Data Warehouse development team; with Talend Open Studio, all the ETL processes are documented and well implemented."

"It needs better installation configuration for other databases. Although the installation allows you to select another database, this doesn't mean that all connection points in the application point to the database selected. You actually need to do a search through the entire install to locate the configuration settings and change them."
"We need more components to be more efficient. We use a lot of components, such as Salesforce, and it's not easy to use."
"There used to be many Youtube channels that offered Talend training, but now there don't seem to be any. The solution should offer more online training resources."
"The user interface could be made simpler."
"What I really don't like is the TAC, which is the Talent Administration Console. It's currently slow, old technology."
"Talend Open Studio's interface does not provide a good experience...I would like to see better documentation and a more enhanced graphical interface in Talend Open Studio."
"There is a need for mastery in some areas."
"In terms of features, it has all the features that I need. However, it consumes a lot of resources; it is using a lot of RAM, and they need to fix the issue related to resource consumption."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its price and value for money would be okay for our purpose if there were some additional features."
"Price could be lower. It is getting too expensive when compared to some other solutions, which is actually a little bit concerning."
"Talend is free and you can download it."
"The paid version of this solution has a very high price, but even with the limitations, the Community version works fine."
"Pricing is always a challenge. It is quite an expensive model, but because the platform is so simple to use, we haven't had to purchase any additional licenses."
"It does the job well for nothing — without cost. That's the advantage of this product."
"I am using the open-source version and it is free."
"The cost, particularly in Africa, is quite high."
"Open Studio has a basic license and additional costs for services, including customer support and technical assistance."
