Relied on consistent support and efficient hardware to streamline engineering test environments
Currently, it is sometimes challenging when a component gets out of fashion or is no longer available at end of life, to quickly get a drop-in replacement. I would appreciate an XE version of the server where we have some drop-in replacements lined up beforehand, and we already know how to validate them. Right now, when this happens, we have about three months to validate the new systems, and that is usually a little short notice for us. I am already happy we get the time we get. I do have something to say about customer service and support. From time to time, we need to get special licenses or extended warranties or other items, especially for end customers. I think that could be streamlined. Right now, there is a human factor in it; there is not a click and buy option. This could save Dell some time to iterate that as well. If we have a technical question, it can take a little time, especially if we are trying to reach the Dutch support line. Usually, we still get redirected to a UK representative, which is acceptable because I speak English, but some of our customers are a little less happy. It would be beneficial if there were more local technical support. All of our questions get answered usually within a day or two, which I consider pretty quick. If it is high priority or critical, it gets answered within a couple of hours.

A good server with useful features like partitions
Huawei KunLun Mission Critical Server support can be better. HP has better support, and more customers have experience with this brand. For clients, there are opportunities to replace the server and take applications from the Huawei server to the Dell server. The server isn't the problem. The problem is with the applications and the database.

Pros

"The ability to do everything through that iDRAC interface is a key for us, allowing us to perform tasks remotely without needing to physically touch anything."
"Dell PowerEdge R-Series products grow with the company's needs; they are scalable for my long-term plans."
"The complete hyper-converged infrastructure of this solution has been most useful. PowerEdge has helped to reduce data processing time by 20%."
"The ease of setting them up is valuable. It is easy to set them up."
"The feature of Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers that I value the best is the iDRAC, as it is extremely good and simplifies tasks."
"One of the key reasons we integrate Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers, particularly the ID Rack model, is for its remote monitoring and administration capabilities."
"Dell PowerEdge R-Series improves my organization mainly as a time saver and in terms of reliability, so we know we have equipment that is reliable."
"However, I have had very good experiences with Dell systems, and the price-performance ratio has always been great."
"Features like partitions are useful."

Cons

"Dell PowerEdge R-Series does not help us grow the company or grow the work."
"Regarding improvements to the Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers, increasing the number of disk bays to provide more storage solutions is essential."
"When integrating the PowerEdge rack, we needed help from all the different companies to combine it with the servers. Each company has a system, and things must align with the server."
"Its price could be better."
"The only aspect that might raise it to a ten is the response time for quote turnaround; it used to be one day, however, it now seems to take longer since the merger of Dell and EMC."
"I wish that Dell had a competitive product to the HPE MicroServer because if they did, I would buy them, not in their hundreds, but certainly in their tens, especially in my capacity as an MSP."
"There's always room for support improvements, and the AI features could continue to be enhanced as the relationship with Nvidia grows."
"There are new FPGA cards available on the market but they are not in the portfolio."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's abundantly clear that the specific licensing requirements will be dictated by the intricacies of the machinery we deploy."
"The price of Dell EMC PowerEdge Rack Servers is reasonable compared to other solutions."
"The product is cheaper than HP servers, but the price could always be better."
"Dell EMC PowerEdge Rack Servers are very expensive."
"The pricing is very good because there are a lot of types of PowerEdge Rack Servers. You have the R540, R640, and R740. The prices are very scalable through the specific server, e.g., small businesses can take the R640 while large businesses can take the R740 or R840. Thus, Dell technologies touch on every organization."
"The pricing for PowerEdge servers is reasonable."
"The pricing and licensing are fair."
"PowerEdge pricing is equivalent to that of all the others in the market."
