Consistent performance and seamless cloud integration enhance analytics capabilities while reducing management complexity
One point for improvement in Google Cloud Bigtable is that people have confusion in mapping. There are many similar products available, and Google has managed services for similar products as well. It would be easier if the journey of knowing when to use Google Cloud Bigtable versus other Cloud SQL and alternates such as Cloud Spanner is made clearer for users. Regarding additional functionality for Google Cloud Bigtable, I am uncertain if LLMs can be integrated or if Google Cloud Bigtable can act as a vector store for LLM-specific use cases where we are interacting or using generative AI capabilities.

While MongoDB is a good product, it is also an expensive product for support, and its scalability is acceptable, but the big problem with MongoDB is the cost. For security in MongoDB, we work with encrypted databases by default, but we have not contracted the security options in our contract because it is too expensive, so we only implement encrypted databases without the security pack, which is very expensive for us; in security, we are at the first steps, just using encrypted databases. I think additional features needed in MongoDB include perhaps vector databases, as I think they are not supported right now.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is very convenient."
"Stability-wise, it is a simple solution. I rate the solution's stability a ten out of ten."
"The main benefit I receive from Google Cloud Bigtable is the managed service part."
"I like the drive and the support of this program."
"This solution is much more scalable than more traditional databases - at least the ones we are aware of."
"Bigtable is faster than other competitors in the market. It helps us collate all the data, and the security features are great. The latency is low, and the computation speed is fantastic. Bigtable is also a managed service, so you don't have to worry about anything aside from analyzing the data ingested."
"It's very user-friendly where streaming data is required."
"The main benefit I receive from Google Cloud Bigtable is the managed service part."
"MongoDB is flexible and it allows other applications to be added."
"Its flexibility, and cost. It is reasonably priced."
"The most valuable features of MongoDB are we have a lot of documentation and SQL-based applications that run on it."
"It is a stable solution. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten...Overall, MongoDB has helped manage and analyze attachment data."
"We haven't had any issues with stability."
"It is very easy to create a MongoDB cluster. You can deploy three nodes in one hour. You can do small configurations to enable routing. It is easy to implement."
"Scalability seems good. I've never been even close to finding the limits. I've run a couple of notes of redundancy but I've never had any problems with scalability."
"In our case, it is most important to have redundancy."

Cons

"This product needs better security and transparency, and the price should be reduced."
"Improvement should be made as per customer recommended and requirements."
"The pricing of the solution needs to be improved."
"I've used Bigtable for about three or four years."
"The cost of this product is too expensive."
"When it comes to complex queries, a user can't get any help from a drop-down box and pick columns. It would be great if some improvements could be made in the aforementioned area concerning the solution."
"The lagging problem of the product I face is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"At the start, connecting to the database via Compass or through a direct ID was a challenge."
"I have found the solution difficult to operate as an administrator."
"There are some problems with bugs appearing in sharding when the data is too high."
"The solution could include more integrations with other platforms."
"A normal Oracle or database tester will take some time to gear up to MongoDB because the way of writing queries is different in MongoDB. There should be some kind of midway where a person who is coming from an Oracle background can write a query and get a response by using something like a select * statement or other such things. There should be some way for MongoDB to interpret these commands rather than making a person learn MongoDB commands and writing them. I struggled while writing these MongoDB commands. I had not seen such queries before. It was pretty difficult to get them. This is one of the areas where it would help from the improvement standpoint."
"The solution can be a bit tough to set up if you don't have knowledge about how the database works."
"We'd like information about client onboarding experience and success stories. It would help to have something to show to internal stakeholders."
"The product's data consistency could be more efficient than traditional SQLs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would like to see better pricing. It is not too expensive, but it isn't cheap either."
"If you want support with the solution you will need to purchase a license and not use the open-source version. The license is a little expensive."
"It's open-source."
"MongoDB is not expensive."
"MongoDB is a free solution. We wanted to have high availability and the subscription cost was quite expensive because the basic one is free and then when you want to have some other replications or other features you will need to pay money. Overall the solution is expensive."
"It is rather expensive."
"MongoDB's pricing is not reasonable, but it is not as expensive as the others."
"MongoDB is a bit expensive compared to its competitors."
"MongoDB's pricing is reasonable."
