Effective cost management achieved with robust storage features but user experience and data management require improvements
HPE Ezmeral Container Platform is not user-friendly and has many parts that are more difficult than Cloudera. It is also a complex solution and has low features for data management. For example, it cannot make a data catalog or process data lineage without third-party support, which increases the cost for development.

Migration to managed containers has accelerated microservice deployments and reduced downtime
I am using add-ons for EKS Kubernetes that stand out to me. The useful add-ons help with administrating multiple clusters and accounts in AWS. My company uses Kubernetes for microservices within the organization. I advise others to look into using Kubernetes and not to pursue other options. Kubernetes is something I want to emphasize before we wrap up. I have given this review an overall rating of 80.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"If customers focus on primary apps or if they are using them for data science, this is a good solution."
"The stability of the HPE Ezmeral Container Platform is good, and I rate it an eight out of ten."
"It is a very good solution for deploying microservices in an application. It has a lot of freedom in it, which makes it very interesting. It is also web-enabled. You can run services in other virtual applications and virtual machines."
"A good interface, better than comparable solutions."
"Kubernetes also offers rollback control and auto-scaling capabilities, which are crucial for maintaining an application's availability even if nodes or pods go down."
"Kubernetes offers a lot of great features such as scalability and great portability of applications."
"The most valuable feature of Kubernetes is its support for load balancing."
"This product has a rich toolset from the community including CNI plug-ins, Helm packages, operators, dashboards, various integrations, etc."
"The most valuable features of Kubernetes have been autoscaling and its resilience mechanisms."
"The Desired State Configuration is a handy feature; we can deploy a certain number of pods, and the tool will ensure that the state is maintained in our desired configuration."

Cons

"The modernization in Ezmeral could be improved."
"HPE Ezmeral Container Platform is not user-friendly and has many parts that are more difficult than Cloudera. It is also a complex solution and has low features for data management."
"The dashboard, monitoring, and login need improvements."
"The solution does not work with third-party tools, or alternative cloud providers, which limits the extent that we can utilize it to."
"The network policies and RBAC management across multi-clusters could be improved. This is an issue we're trying to solve in the market."
"Kubernetes is incredibly complicated, so one area of improvement is the ease of administration. I would like a user interface that you can run to help you debug and diagnose problems and suggest how to configure things."
"They should update Kubernetes more regularly."
"It would be helpful if the UI were more graphical."
"The Kubernetes dashboard can be improved. It is currently a mess. We were using Rancher earlier, and everyone was happy with the dashboard. Right now, we are using Kubernetes, and it's not working with Microsoft workstations. We still have problems with the dashboard. It's terrible."
"The solution has some issues regarding availability during high loads. Worker nodes are sometimes unavailable, affecting the overall availability of the applications. This is a bug or underlying problem with the tool, and Azure and other providers are looking into improving this by releasing new versions of Kubernetes that fix some of the platform's issues."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I am using the solution's open-source version."
"Microsoft provides reasonable costs for Kubernetes."
"We use the solution's open-source version."
"If you're using a public cloud, the cost depends on the number of nodes you are planning to deploy Kubernetes on."
"There is a license to use Kubernetes."
"There are no licensing fees."
"Pricing isn't a major concern for us. Since we resell Kubernetes services and focus on providing support, integration, and education, we don't usually have pricing issues. Our customers are more concerned with getting the right support and services than the cost. So, the value we provide is more important than the actual pricing. Pricing might change in the future, but it’s not a big issue for us right now."
"I would say the solution is worth the money, but it depends on the required workloads, the type of workload, and the scaling requirements etc."
