Reliable, cost-effective, and easy to deploy and manage
I did not have any difficulties in deploying StoreEasy for the customers. It is user-friendly and easy to deploy. It has a Windows Server and a required license built in. For implementation, we follow the HPE documentation. We follow the Configuration guide and the Installation guide. For all HPE products, we follow the HPE documentation. For a single box, it takes a maximum of two days. It depends on the customer's availability. For different configurations, it can take two to three days. The number of people required varies from customer to customer, but generally, it requires three people. For mounting the storage, we always have three people to unbox, mount, and do other things. It does not require any maintenance. From the data center perspective, maintaining StoreEasy is very easy. No customer has complained about any difficulty in maintaining StoreEasy.

Used for VMs with replication a feature, but need upgraded SSDs
We use this solution. I configured and updated it. Of course, I was also a user of applications that store data on that storage. We already have an SSD solution. So, rather than planning to go with an SSD solution, we are focusing on expanding it. If a company wants to deploy something new, it should choose a product with SSD, and NVMe disks. Overall, I rate the solution a six out of ten.

"I can use both the on-premises and cloud storage options. I need to have an APR extension from StoreEasy, and it's that simple."
"It is easy to manage. There is a management console that comes with StoreEasy. It simplifies managing storage permission. There is snapshot scheduling as well. The updates and everything else is good."
"The most valuable feature of HPE StoreEasy is the storing of virtual machines."
"StoreEasy is a better solution for backup purposes."
"This solution allows me to better and more easily manage user data without impacting my primary storage."
"I like the user quotas, integrations, and separations for storage."
"The ONTAP tools make managing VMware easier."
"The solution is stable."
"Flexible and reliable storage solution with multiple features such as cloning, replication, and deduplication. Data migration can be done without any performance implications on the production systems."
"It's an easy product to use that is stable and has good performance."
"It changed the way we do Disaster Recovery (DR) around NetApp replication."
"Adaptive balancing is a valuable feature."
"The migration of the volume on the cluster is very useful and easy to use."
"The new FAS series is a good fit for some customers. We have good performance and capacity, even though it is full flash."

Cons

"We need some monitoring tools and it would be helpful if they were included."
"There are some SKUs in StoreEasy that are built to order, and there are only limited options, such as StoreEasy 1670 and 1870, which can be configured to order based on customer preferences."
"When I configure the StoreEasy in a complex environment I have problems finding compatibility with all the software."
"The support of HPE StoreEasy can improve its responsiveness. Dell support is better."
"There are some SKUs in StoreEasy that are built to order, and there are only limited options, such as StoreEasy 1670 and 1870, which can be configured to order based on customer preferences."
"There is a default Windows installation. Sometimes, when it crashes, the HPE support team asks the customer to reinstall it. That is the only issue customers are facing."
"It would be better if it were more scalable. In the next release, I would like to access some Microsoft Windows storage server features. I guess the newest version of Windows Server has some restrictions."
"The cluster service is not available in the latest version of HPE StoreEasy."
"Currently, the newest release is not HCI friendly."
"The NetApp FAS Series is not as high-performing and is not as fast. Its speed needs improvement, but this could only be done if it's an all-flash solution."
"The solution can improve on the replication features."
"We have some experience with older equipment end-of-life. For example, when warranty support stops or updates stop – it can be frustrating. Not all clients can buy a new filer every year or two, and NetApp ending support a bit quickly can be a concern."
"The AutoSupport could be improved to be more proactive in certain cases."
"The adoption of flash by NetApp has also been lagging behind the trendsetters, like TMS, Nimble, and others."
"It's hard to find in-person training that fits our schedule in our area. They offer a lot of online training, but we need somewhere to go because we can't really get away from the office."
"Replication should ideally be part of the ONTAP base bundle."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This is an economical solution for the company and I am satisfied with the pricing."
"I would rate the tool's pricing an eight out of ten. You need to pay additional costs for the solution."
"The price of HPE StoreEasy is approximately $15,000 to $20,000 and it is a one-time purchase. The price is similar to competitors, such as Dell."
"Based on what I hear from our customers, it is not very expensive. From the cost perspective, I see nobody complaining about its cost."
"The product's pricing is reasonable."
"NetApp FAS Series is a reasonably high-priced solution, partially because we select the configuration that duplicates the entire system."
"The tool is expensive."
"I would rate the pricing a seven out of ten, with ten being expensive. We pay a one-time purchase price."
"I've sold arrays for as little $20,000 USD and as high as $300,000 USD."
"Cost effective storage for all performance levels (including all-flash)."
"The scalability is pretty good, but it's too expensive."
"In general, I find NetApp to be very expensive. That's the main issue I have with them. So it's a drawback in terms of pricing."
