Resilience has supported proactive management and secured audit readiness across multiple sites
The resilience in Dell PowerStore benefits my company from an auditing perspective because we know we have that resilience in place. I see Dell PowerStore playing a bigger role in the future because we are starting to use it more, and that is pushing it. The biggest return on investment for me when using Dell PowerStore is scalability. Scalability is key. I can amplify that scalability is the biggest return on investment because we have redundancy between two sites; if something goes down, we have to manage it, but we want to do it proactively.

Efficient file management and cloud replication enhance business operations
HPE StoreEasy is a stable and high-performing solution that HPE supports effectively. A key feature is that it is customizable to adjust to our necessities. I would rate the solution as nine out of ten. Consider adding more security features similar to iLO's security recommendations to improve resilience against ransomware.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the functionality of the integration between the storage and the domain."
"We used Cloud IQ. The central management and outside support functionality were great since we had systems all over the world."
"The resilience in Dell PowerStore benefits my company from an auditing perspective because we know we have that resilience in place."
"The improvement is massive; even a couple of milliseconds makes a significant difference to our production throughput, allowing products to leave the door more efficiently, which also cuts back on overtime and ensures we can complete our daily tasks in the required hours."
"The biggest trust element is people are very happy to depend on a Dell infrastructure."
"The most valuable feature of Dell PowerStore is Metro Volumes."
"The product is reliable and stable."
"My experience with deploying Dell PowerStore was that the installation was straightforward."
"StoreEasy offers reliable file services, which is a critical factor for customers looking for solid infrastructure."
"StoreEasy is a better solution for backup purposes."
"I like the tool's provisioning feature and OneView."
"This solution allows me to better and more easily manage user data without impacting my primary storage."
"The most beneficial feature of HPE StoreEasy for us is its easy implementation and maintenance."
"I can use both the on-premises and cloud storage options. I need to have an APR extension from StoreEasy, and it's that simple."
"It is a robust system, reliable, and well-priced."
"I like the user quotas, integrations, and separations for storage."

Cons

"You cannot delegate permissions."
"Regarding improvements for Dell PowerStore, there is room for enhancement."
"There are crashes from time to time. We had a controller problem once where something broke."
"We'd like to see some improvements on the security side."
"One of the big differences when we were looking at Pure is that they had more of an in-place upgrade option going forward, kind of future-proofing things. We hear Dell is working towards that, but they weren't quite there, especially three years ago."
"The only improvement that might be required, though not significantly, relates to the features that allow for support, specifically the call home features."
"During the installation phase, the licensing part was not straightforward. It was very difficult for the technicians, who are not trained Dell EMC technicians, to do the licensing because the information on their website is not straightforward... Eventually, I had to pass this task to our business partner and they did it for us."
"From the price perspective, I think it should be less expensive to better position it against vendors such as IBM or Hitachi, since sometimes it is hard to sell it due to higher pricing."
"When I configure the StoreEasy in a complex environment I have problems finding compatibility with all the software."
"It would be better if it were more scalable. In the next release, I would like to access some Microsoft Windows storage server features. I guess the newest version of Windows Server has some restrictions."
"I would like to improve the tool's technical support. I would also like to see the product's hybrid cloud version."
"The areas of HPE StoreEasy that need improvement are scalability and migration."
"There are some SKUs in StoreEasy that are built to order, and there are only limited options, such as StoreEasy 1670 and 1870, which can be configured to order based on customer preferences."
"The support of HPE StoreEasy can improve its responsiveness. Dell support is better."
"The cluster service is not available in the latest version of HPE StoreEasy."
"There could be improvements in providing more hardening options on the operating system side, similar to iLO's security scoreboard."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The rate is always too high. Nobody likes paying for it. I have not seen a client yet who says that the price should be higher. Initially, people look at it, but when they see what the benefits are, it is a no-brainer. We can give them good pricing at the outset."
"The pricing structure and licensing model of Dell PowerStore are pretty decent. It's pretty competitive."
"The licensing for this solution is good and is in the mid-range tier."
"The price of Dell EMC PowerStore could be better, it is a bit expensive."
"HCL Tech has a TLA with Dell, so in terms of price point, we are very competitive. Based on my experience, the cost of Dell PowerStore for around 500 GB of capacity is very competitive compared to any other platform in the market."
"If we use the 500 or 1000, the licensing and pricing are reasonable. PowerStore can compete with any vendor and the price isn't that expensive."
"We are happy with the pricing that we get from Dell."
"There's still a cap on the upgrade path, where you can consume all the engines within the frame before you have to go to another frame... Normally, we exceed the IOPS on the frames before we can ever exhaust the storage, so anything they can do to help us avoid stranded storage capacity, capacity that we couldn't get to, would be beneficial."
"I would rate the tool's pricing an eight out of ten. You need to pay additional costs for the solution."
"Based on what I hear from our customers, it is not very expensive. From the cost perspective, I see nobody complaining about its cost."
"The price of HPE StoreEasy is approximately $15,000 to $20,000 and it is a one-time purchase. The price is similar to competitors, such as Dell."
"This is an economical solution for the company and I am satisfied with the pricing."
