Resilience has supported proactive management and secured audit readiness across multiple sites
The resilience in Dell PowerStore benefits my company from an auditing perspective because we know we have that resilience in place. I see Dell PowerStore playing a bigger role in the future because we are starting to use it more, and that is pushing it. The biggest return on investment for me when using Dell PowerStore is scalability. Scalability is key. I can amplify that scalability is the biggest return on investment because we have redundancy between two sites; if something goes down, we have to manage it, but we want to do it proactively.

Reliable, cost-effective, and easy to deploy and manage
I did not have any difficulties in deploying StoreEasy for the customers. It is user-friendly and easy to deploy. It has a Windows Server and a required license built in. For implementation, we follow the HPE documentation. We follow the Configuration guide and the Installation guide. For all HPE products, we follow the HPE documentation. For a single box, it takes a maximum of two days. It depends on the customer's availability. For different configurations, it can take two to three days. The number of people required varies from customer to customer, but generally, it requires three people. For mounting the storage, we always have three people to unbox, mount, and do other things. It does not require any maintenance. From the data center perspective, maintaining StoreEasy is very easy. No customer has complained about any difficulty in maintaining StoreEasy.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Dell PowerStore is a mid-range product that can suit small companies and provides good IOPS and performance."
"Dell PowerStore has a nice user interface and works as it should; it's fast and stable to work with, and it seems to be good for our purpose."
"Dell PowerStore is a very stable solution."
"Dell PowerStore has one GUI in terms of how to use it, integrates very well with the data protection suites and the cybersecurity side, is a storage platform that allows efficient data access, and makes upgrades very easy to do."
"PowerStore is easy to use. All the drives use soft encryption. To upgrade it, you download the app, and it runs by itself. It's very easy to deploy, share, and create volumes."
"The features of Dell PowerStore that I appreciate the most are that it just works; it's tried and true and amazing, and we never have to worry about it."
"The most valuable features of Dell PowerStore are the resilience, scalability, flexibility of expansion, and ease of managing the entire solution including the servers and storage."
"I've tested quite a few storage systems, and I find Dell PowerStore really highly suited to modern, diverse environments."
"The scalability of HPE StoreEasy is good, with approximately 2,000 users including students, professors, and other departments using it on a daily basis."
"I like the user quotas, integrations, and separations for storage."
"The tool's data protection capabilities are robust."
"The most valuable feature of HPE StoreEasy is the storing of virtual machines."
"HPE StoreEasy is a stable and high-performing solution that HPE supports effectively."
"It is a robust system, reliable, and well-priced."
"I can use both the on-premises and cloud storage options. I need to have an APR extension from StoreEasy, and it's that simple."
"The solution's most valuable feature is the duplication."

Cons

"The storage could be improved. I would like a feature for how to best secure an appliance and the storage since we are connecting the container to the public cloud. I would like them to develop another level of security, making it more secure than from what they have now."
"While using Dell PowerStore's interface in our organization, we sometimes miss out on some information."
"We have not seen an ROI and it would be good to have an ROI calculator made available by Dell."
"However, I can see that the software needs to mature more; whenever we upgrade to a new version, even if it is the Dell recommended version, we still encounter major bugs that can impact business operations."
"Dell PowerStore has deduplication, but it may need more enhancement because in our case, it was not as efficient as Dell Data Domain."
"I recommend Dell PowerStore to medium-sized companies and not for larger ones as well because I think for the bigger ones, it is missing some features and there is a bit of a lack in terms of performance for big volumetry."
"The design needs to be something similar to Pure Storage. It would be beneficial if there are different color or lighting options for different product casings. Different colors are helpful when working in the data center server room."
"The solution only does thin provisioning."
"There are some SKUs in StoreEasy that are built to order, and there are only limited options, such as StoreEasy 1670 and 1870, which can be configured to order based on customer preferences."
"StoreEasy has a huge scalability issue."
"There is a default Windows installation. Sometimes, when it crashes, the HPE support team asks the customer to reinstall it. That is the only issue customers are facing."
"We need some monitoring tools and it would be helpful if they were included."
"There could be improvements in providing more hardening options on the operating system side, similar to iLO's security scoreboard."
"It would be better if it were more scalable. In the next release, I would like to access some Microsoft Windows storage server features. I guess the newest version of Windows Server has some restrictions."
"I would like to improve the tool's technical support. I would also like to see the product's hybrid cloud version."
"The support of HPE StoreEasy can improve its responsiveness. Dell support is better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"With compression, we were able to have a solution within our company's budget. We include a clause in the contract with Dell that states if the compression ratio is not met, we will adjust the workload accordingly."
"The price of Dell PowerStore could improve. The price should be managed more compared to Huawei Dorado or IBM All-Flash series."
"The rate is always too high. Nobody likes paying for it. I have not seen a client yet who says that the price should be higher. Initially, people look at it, but when they see what the benefits are, it is a no-brainer. We can give them good pricing at the outset."
"The pricing rates at seven out of ten as it is considered overpriced. Entry-level models are reasonably priced, starting around $30,000 for a base model with 6 drives. However, upgrades become costly - adding 6 additional drives can cost another $30,000."
"The licensing for this solution is good and is in the mid-range tier."
"The price of Dell EMC PowerStore could be better, it is a bit expensive."
"Dealing with the licensing part of the product is very simple, especially considering the fact that we don't have many licenses associated with the tool."
"Dell PowerStore is affordable and the license is just a face license which is great."
"I would rate the tool's pricing an eight out of ten. You need to pay additional costs for the solution."
"The price of HPE StoreEasy is approximately $15,000 to $20,000 and it is a one-time purchase. The price is similar to competitors, such as Dell."
"Based on what I hear from our customers, it is not very expensive. From the cost perspective, I see nobody complaining about its cost."
"This is an economical solution for the company and I am satisfied with the pricing."
