The biggest return on investment for me when using Dell PowerStore is scalability; scalability is key, and I can amplify that by saying we have redundancy between two sites—if something goes down, we have to manage it, but we want to do it proactively.

Though the initial investment might seem high, achieving five times deduplication compression provides good value for money.

The most important aspect of Dell PowerStore in comparison to any other platform is that it helps us save costs while giving more value per GB per dollar spent. It provides an industry-leading DRR ratio.

It's unified storage, so it can cover file, SAN, and block both. It's good storage; it gives good IOPS and less latency.

Customer service is good, though if you are running into some issues where you have to chase after them or they do not understand what is going on, overall it is pretty good.

If I could improve Dell PowerStore in any way, I would enhance the socialization of the good skills this equipment has, improving communication with partners as the good features are inside Dell PowerStore, however, many customers don't know how powerful it is.

Improvements could be made in the replication solutions of Dell PowerStore. Even though replication between Dell PowerStores is possible, high latency connectivity is problematic.

It would have been beneficial to have someone from the support team do a warm handoff to clarify who to contact for future assistance.

One thing they need to work on is creating an app sync or the Metro Cluster functionality. Currently, it requires a different hop as we have to add multiple switches to build that functionality for replication from one data center to another. If that could be bundled in a base Dell PowerStore by default, it would be great.

However, I can see that the software needs to mature more; whenever we upgrade to a new version, even if it is the Dell recommended version, we still encounter major bugs that can impact business operations.

Sometimes they have equipment in stock. Sometimes they don't, so they have to arrange it from somewhere. That's been a challenge, and it's a negative point from a support perspective.

I have already faced competition due to the ransomware feature that Dell does not have as a built-in feature in the storage.
