Uninterrupted upgrades accelerate performance with good support
I would rate the solution eight out of ten. It should be noted that in Pakistan, some parts are not readily available, and we need to import them from Singapore or other countries. We encountered an issue with a customer where the midplane failed and was not available. We had to wait for several days for a replacement, even in a 24/7 support case. Additionally, we faced motherboard failures in the customer's environment, encountering two motherboard failures simultaneously. We obtained one motherboard immediately, yet had to wait ten days for another. These issues should have been resolved promptly given the 24/7 support level.

Reliable, cost-effective, and easy to deploy and manage
I did not have any difficulties in deploying StoreEasy for the customers. It is user-friendly and easy to deploy. It has a Windows Server and a required license built in. For implementation, we follow the HPE documentation. We follow the Configuration guide and the Installation guide. For all HPE products, we follow the HPE documentation. For a single box, it takes a maximum of two days. It depends on the customer's availability. For different configurations, it can take two to three days. The number of people required varies from customer to customer, but generally, it requires three people. For mounting the storage, we always have three people to unbox, mount, and do other things. It does not require any maintenance. From the data center perspective, maintaining StoreEasy is very easy. No customer has complained about any difficulty in maintaining StoreEasy.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has really improved how we can streamline our storage purchases, as well as performance."
"I would say one of the most valuable is the ability to dedup on a CPG level, that's one of the newest features that has come out most recently and has enabled us to get a ratio of about 7.1 to 1."
"3PAR is great."
"We have not experienced any down times since we started 3PAR, and for us, it was the right decision and the best way to provide a storage solution for our company."
"It helps our core applications run very fast, increasing overall performance by about 60 percent, with one process going from taking seven hours to taking one hour, making it a key for storage in our organization."
"It was a smooth transition over."
"The initial setup was straightforward."
"The solutions has increased our performance; we went from 24,000 IOPS to around 70,000 IOPS and the solution has improved our throughput with less downtime."
"HPE StoreEasy is a stable and high-performing solution that HPE supports effectively."
"The tool's data protection capabilities are robust."
"StoreEasy is a better solution for backup purposes."
"It is a robust system, reliable, and well-priced."
"We have just started with HPE StoreEasy but I am looking forward to working with it, as I am satisfied with the technical details and to me, it seems like one of the best solutions available."
"The scalability of HPE StoreEasy is good, with approximately 2,000 users including students, professors, and other departments using it on a daily basis."
"The most beneficial feature of HPE StoreEasy for us is its easy implementation and maintenance."
"It is easy to manage. There is a management console that comes with StoreEasy. It simplifies managing storage permission. There is snapshot scheduling as well. The updates and everything else is good."

Cons

"We thought it would be easy, but in the end it was quite complex."
"It's not good and kind of stressful when you're at the first level."
"Its price is a bit high for adding another tree."
"For me, the main issue with 3PAR right now is its cost problem."
"The initial setup was complex in that requirements were not communicated well through the VAR and some parts needed to be sent back (PDU’s were of the wrong type) and the VAR assumed a Virtual Storage manager would be used, but a physical manager was both requested and required, which created an installation delay while the correct equipment was shipped."
"At this time I would not recommend this solution because it is at the end of its service life."
"We are waiting for compression."
"The setup was complex from the perspective of the employees having to go through five days of training. If they simplified the administrative process of maintaining the unit, that would go a long way."
"The support of HPE StoreEasy can improve its responsiveness. Dell support is better."
"It would be better if it were more scalable. In the next release, I would like to access some Microsoft Windows storage server features. I guess the newest version of Windows Server has some restrictions."
"I would like to improve the tool's technical support. I would also like to see the product's hybrid cloud version."
"When I configure the StoreEasy in a complex environment I have problems finding compatibility with all the software."
"There could be improvements in providing more hardening options on the operating system side, similar to iLO's security scoreboard."
"There is a default Windows installation. Sometimes, when it crashes, the HPE support team asks the customer to reinstall it. That is the only issue customers are facing."
"The areas of HPE StoreEasy that need improvement are scalability and migration."
"There are some SKUs in StoreEasy that are built to order, and there are only limited options, such as StoreEasy 1670 and 1870, which can be configured to order based on customer preferences."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the license depends. Some people expect more from the hardware. Some expect more from the licensing, and that is because you can receive several licenses nowadays, such as the terabyte license. You buy the storage, and you pay extra for the terabyte license for the software. There is a one-time purchase for the license and you pay annually for the maintenance."
"The price of the solution could be reduced for the license and for support."
"It's very reliable and it was cost competitive with other arrays at the time that we purchased it."
"We are going to buy eight nodes this year and eight nodes next year. Eventually, we are not going to want to buy large storage devices and probably utilize just storage, but in a different manner going forward."
"Take advantage of what HPE offers as far as professional services, and this will help you make the right decision."
"To be more competitive, as customer, we need a more aggressive price that includes all the licenses available."
"We paid for five years of support when we purchased the product."
"The licensing cost for HPE 3PAR StoreServ is expensive."
"Based on what I hear from our customers, it is not very expensive. From the cost perspective, I see nobody complaining about its cost."
"I would rate the tool's pricing an eight out of ten. You need to pay additional costs for the solution."
"The price of HPE StoreEasy is approximately $15,000 to $20,000 and it is a one-time purchase. The price is similar to competitors, such as Dell."
"This is an economical solution for the company and I am satisfied with the pricing."

Measuring Up: EMC XtremIO and HP 3PAR
Leading up to EMC World 2015, IT Central Station asked how I would compare EMC XtremIO and HP 3PAR. Until recently, the flash storage conversation in my organization and many others has centered on XtremIO and Pure Storage, the leaders of the all-flash array (AFA) space. To that end, I've written a…
