Enhanced mobile security with visibility into app and website usage, but installation challenges remain
We use Lookout for mobile devices, such as phones It has reduced our risk around mobile devices. I like the security features and being able to see what apps and websites people are using. There is nothing we have come across that we've desired. We have been using Lookout for one year. The…

The analytics and reporting can be a bit overwhelming. I love the dashboards, but I find that I need to better understand PowerQuery—specifically when to turn it on and off and its limitations. It's similar to SharePoint in that regard. As a former SharePoint instructor, I know it like the back of my hand. The best thing about SharePoint is that it can do whatever you want; the worst part is also that it can do whatever you want. You really need to know what you want before diving in. Most people usually have a good idea of what they need. SharePoint offers a lot out of the box, but you can customize it further if you wish. However, customization often requires hiring someone, which can be risky since you never know if it will work as intended. On the other hand, PowerQuery can help bridge some of those gaps within Singularity. The challenge arises when you want to incorporate what you've done into dashboards and charts, as there are limitations. For instance, I want more clickable drill-down options that allow me to filter on specific sections of the data, but that's currently not possible. It’s not to say that improvements won’t come in the future; it's just that it feels a bit early at this stage. Additionally, I find some navigation features frustrating, like the back button in certain contexts. For example, if you open PowerQuery from a chart, it doesn't open in a new window or tab. Clicking the back button takes you all the way back to the previous state, causing you to lose whatever progress you made. However, I'm actively providing this feedback to my partner, Pro Circular, through whom we access SentinelOne. They take our input seriously, and I've been sharing my observations. They have their own views but are addressing the issues I raise. It's good to see that suggestions occasionally lead to updates and improvements.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features are the antivirus as a whole, the anti-malware, and all of the protection features that scan our enterprise devices."
"The protection offered by the product is the most valuable feature. It detects vulnerabilities or traps on our users' phones and then prompts them to clean up their devices. Tools we used previously would only discover, which required us to gather information on the backend, so Lookout is a welcome upgrade."
"We have not had any issues with bugs or breakdowns."
"The most valuable feature is the machine learning capability, as opposed to the traditional rule-based antivirus."
"The visibility component is the most valuable feature."
"The overview is valuable. There are a lot of instances out there, but Singularity Complete cuts the noise down by giving us graphics and color-coding information instead of massive tech dumps. It helps us concentrate on what is actually needed versus just the noise."
"SentinelOne is the next-generation EDR solution."
"The best part of the agent is that users can't remove or disable it, so endpoints will be safe. I can control it from the portal. I can see when it's updated and I can push updates from the portal. The greatness of SentinelOne is that our end-users don't see anything to do with the agents. Some of them don't even know it's on their laptops. And that's a good thing."
"It is great for security monitoring and blocking when needed."
"The GUI is really easy to use."
"The platform's ability to easily integrate with various other platforms is highly valuable."

Cons

"From the analysis that we've done, they do seem to be maybe a step behind in trying to enter the market with a new solution. But when they do pick up, they do come out with some good products."
"We just submitted an enhancement request reflecting the main area we want to see improvement in; the APIs. Currently, we're able to build dashboards, but it's somewhat backward because we use our MDM API to create them. Lookout should provide API to customers so we can query our data and use it in our cloud, and this is the only outstanding area for improvement with the product right now."
"The initial setup requires a little bit of experience with configuration."
"We ran into production issues related to CPU utilization on Linux endpoints. Our production environment's performance got degraded like anything."
"SentinelOne can improve by having better integration with Active Directory."
"I would have liked the dashboard to be more user-friendly."
"We are now using an external monitoring tool to monitor the services of SentinelOne, because apparently they don't have any solution for that. When the SentinelOne agent is down, you can go to the interface and see a mark on SentinelOne that something is not correct or the server needs to be rebooted, but you will not get an alert. You will not be warned that there is an issue with the SentinelOne agent. I have found that a little bit disturbing, because then we need to use a third-party monitoring tool to make sure that all services of SentinelOne are up and running."
"The main issue with SentinelOne Singularity Complete was the process memory used for Linux servers, which generated a lot of tickets and incidents due to the high load of disk consumption and memory."
"We had some stability issues when we started working with SentinelOne."
"Sometimes, SentinelOne Singularity Complete takes time to reflect on some machines, which could be due to poor network connectivity."
"I would like to have the same features such as ransomware that are available on the cloud version of SentinelOne also made available for the on-prem version because a lot of people in our region are not ready for cloud solutions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Lookout is definitely on the lower end when it comes to price point and that seems to be the only differentiator. The technology is in place in this space and it's really about who is coming in at the better price point now."
"The pricing is fair; it's comparable to our previous solution, and we carried out multiple POCs and POVs (proof of value). The product is worth the money we pay for it."
"The price is costly compared to what we were previously paying with Microsoft Defender and McAfee."
"I found the pricing for SentinelOne Singularity Complete reasonable."
"Its price can be lower because I'm seeing competition from another vendor who beats it on commercials."
"The price is competitive, if you compare it with other solutions on the market."
"The per-seat cost is low, but you have to commit to a certain number of licenses for a year."
"I rate Singularity Complete four out of 10 for affordability. SentinelOne costs more than traditional antivirus solutions, but we get more out of it. It hasn't saved us any money, but it's an EDR solution, so we get a lot of value from it."
"Its pricing is competitive."
"The pricing was very similar in terms of its competitors, but I believe SentinelOne's capability and willingness to attract new business allowed us to save some extra money."
