Hyper-converged storage has improved performance and now supports high redundancy for our VMs
Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI) was transparent because we were on a regular infrastructure before. We went on NCI and were able to improve performance, but it did not really change how things worked. The performance was really better for applications and access times to the data. I regularly looked at the analytics to see what was going on in my servers and what it was saying to optimize performance. It was pretty interesting because it could analyze and give insights on how to get things working better. In the latest versions, the Prism interface has been replaced by Prism Central. This requires another machine to be deployed to manage the servers.

Has provided mature containerization support and responsive assistance while meeting diverse customer needs
Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure can be improved primarily because the biggest problem in Sri Lanka is its high price compared to other solutions. Feature-wise, it's very mature for the containerization side, but the price point is an issue. I would like to see more features related to disaster recovery and continuity in Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure, specifically disaster recovery, disaster recovery sites, and business continuity.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure is its low cost, guaranteed to failover and failback with only a few clicks."
"If you are looking for flexibility, space-saving, power-saving, and the best ROI, this is the solution to use."
"ROI was seen as soon as we went live with the system, as it has lower hardware maintenance costs and less power consumption."
"Acropolis' main advantages are high performance and availability."
"Nutanix has given me an opportunity to create multiple VMs and it's really very resilient for failures."
"Since it is a high convert solution, we don't need any downtime because all the VMs are being moved to another node, so no downtime is required and it is very stable and reliable."
"The return on investment of Nutanix Acropolis AOS is better than other solutions."
"The most valuable feature of Nutanix Acropolis AOS is it has centralized management."
"The size of the hardware is what we need because it is very good for small configurations."
"Their technical support is amazing in general."
"Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure is an open-sourced, low-cost solution with full features."
"Utilizing Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure's software-defined storage helps increase data consistency for specific use cases, aligning with customer requirements, depending on which type of data we are storing."
"I like that you can add other types of services."
"It is stable and scalable."
"The stability of the solution is good; we haven't experienced any bugs or glitches and we've been satisfied so far."
"The most useful feature is the solution's automation in terms of how we are able to spin up a certain workload in real-time when we are doing R&D."

Cons

"Pricing and varieties of options could be better."
"This product is expensive, but they do have discounts."
"The solution has more features than required"
"Could have better visibility with the main OEM backup integrators."
"Nutanix needs more development on DRC solutions embedded in Acropolis."
"The scalability of the solution had some issues because there were many VMs and the replication ran into some bottlenecks. It was an issue that was known to Nutanix and it was not disclosed to the customer."
"Reduce its power consumption."
"The patch updates of Nutanix Acropolis could be improved. I'm work on the corporate side, but I get feedback from our IT team that patch updates and other updates are taking a significantly longer time. This definitely needs to be resolved. We are in discussion with Nutanix regarding certain configuration issues we are having, so maybe something can be changed to ease these patch updates."
"It is not user-friendly, and it is very difficult to operate. You have to have a deep understanding of the technical details of the infrastructure to implement it. When you compare it with VMware, it is totally different because the graphical user interface is not that easy to understand. It is not intuitive. To use it, you have to read a lot of documentation and even understand what is going on behind the solution. It is not for someone who has a little bit of knowledge. Currently, it is too complex. I need something that is easy to implement. It should have a basic configuration as well as a complex configuration."
"The licensing policy needs to be improved. They have a licensing policy based on the number of CPU sockets."
"The cloud deployment could be improved."
"Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure can be improved primarily because the biggest problem in Sri Lanka is its high price compared to other solutions."
"It is not user-friendly, and it is very difficult to operate."
"It should be more user-friendly, in my opinion."
"The licensing policy needs to be improved. They have a licensing policy based on the number of CPU sockets. Nowadays what has happened is that the license they are trying to move is based on the number of CPU cores. With the advancement in technology there are now more cores in a single CPU. It's been very challenging in terms of managing the license around everything. Today we have a processor with 24 and 32 cores on the same physical CPU."
"The main issue is the initial investment. It is an expensive product, and it should be cheaper. It should also be easier to use and manage. The professional service for this solution is quite complex and expensive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Cost-wise, it is very good. It is like the hypervisor cost is not there. We only need to pay for the system and AOS licenses."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure's core licensing needs to have an upper limit since processors are coming out with incredible numbers of cores on them."
"The pricing is fair for the package."
"Their technical support is really good. They have been very helpful."
"This product is less expensive than some of the competing HCI solutions."
"The price is good but I think there is still room for improvement on the price."
"Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure is expensive."
"The solution could be a little less expensive."
"It is quite pricey."
"Red Hat Hyperconverged Infrastructure is an open-sourced, low-cost solution with full features."
