Regarding integration with various development tools, I can provide examples, and I am using customizable dashboards in OpenText ALM _ Quality Center, which definitely help identify project bottlenecks. As for the scalability of OpenText ALM _ Quality Center, there are limitations, particularly in agile methodologies, which is currently my main concern.

Accurately identifies what will be affected in production after a change or upgrade
The LiveCompare apps that my customers and I have benefitted from the most are analyses and reports on the following: * Upgrades – LiveCompare's Impact Analysis functionality accurately identifies what will be affected in production as the result of a change or an upgrade. It can also pinpoint accurately the scope of testing needed in anticipation of an upgrade. * Migration to SAP Hana – LiveCompare's unique reporting and advanced analytics streamline the entire migration process to SAP Hana, while minimizing costs, risk, and time. * SAP License management optimization. * Custom code analytics – Includes usage monitoring, quality and performance monitoring, Java analysis, and ABAP code quality. * Testing - LiveCompare optimizes the entire testing phase in upgrade projects.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"You can plan your test execution very thoroughly with configurations and setups in the test lab."
"The most valuable feature is the ST Add-In. It's a Microsoft add-in that makes it much easier to upload test cases into Quality Center."
"By using the REST API, I have automated QA Reporting, and integrated QA information into the development build process."
"We are happy, it is a good product, we have benefited from the tool and recommend it, and we have received very good feedback regarding its use."
"In the case of the software development company, the use of HPE QC helped us to become compliant with GAMP and ISO requirements."
"If the company plans to use QTP/UFT then HP QC/ALM is a great option."
"The most valuable features of OpenText ALM include its integration with the automation landscape, the ability to capture requirements and map them to test cases, and the capability to schedule runs through ALM."
"The ability to keep test cases and defects centrally located, accessible to multiple people instead of in document format, is the most valuable feature."
"LiveCompare's unique reporting and advanced analytics streamline the entire migration process to SAP Hana, while minimizing costs, risk, and time."
"Using LiveCompare allows us to automate many of the required tasks while gaining access to data needed to optimize our SAP environments with fewer resources than before."
"LiveCompare's Impact Analysis functionality identifies accurately what will be affected in production as the result of a change or an upgrade. It can also pinpoint accurately the scope of testing needed in anticipation of an upgrade."

Cons

"Pricing is high compared to other solutions."
"There could be more configurable workflows regarding test case creation approval."
"There are cases where the system does not meet our reporting requirements."
"In terms of places for improvement, Micro Focus is an expensive tool. We see nowadays that there are other products coming, and Micro Focus is more expensive and there are lots of license costs."
"There are always new features and more support for new and legacy technology architectures with each release. But the bad news is a growing list of long-standing issues with the product rarely gets addressed."
"The product could do with more native integration for agile projects, a greatly reduced cost model and closer integration with products that are non-HP."
"Tech support is very, very poor. There is no coordination between product groups, you have to repeat the same information multiple times, features that are fixed end up breaking in the next release, and releases and upgrades do not fix problems as promised."
"Sometimes I do run my queries from the admin login. However, if I want to reassess all my test cases, then I am still doing this in a manual manner."
"From my experience with the product, I would suggest adding a feature that would allow a customer who is reviewing the LiveCompare results to be able to connect remotely with one of IntelliCorp's experts (aside from their support) in order to assist the customer to better understand the results."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We have divided our licenses between Micro Focus ALM and ALM Octane. It works for us."
"ALM Quality Center is a little bit costly."
"It is an expensive tool. I think one needs to pay 10,000 USD towards the perpetual licensing model."
"The enterprise pricing and licensing are reasonable."
"The solution is priceed high."
"The full ALM license lets you use the requirements tab, along with test automation and the Performance Center. You can also just buy the Quality Center edition (Manual testing only), or the Performance Center version (Performance Testing only)."
"Sure, HP UFT is not free. But consider what you get for that cost: A stable product that is easy to use; the kitchen sink of technology stack support; decades of code (which in many cases actually is free); a version that is a stepping stone to an easier Selenium design; and a support base that is more that just the kindness of strangers."
"Only major companies that can afford it use OpenText ALM."
"IntelliCorp is flexible in terms of licensing and the pricing structure. They are open to discussing a customer's specific requirements."
