Provides self-repair features, but the setup is complex
We use the product for online applications. We use it in the financial industry The product has self-repair features. The tool tunes itself. It separates compute from storage. We can scale storage and compute separately. The setup is complex. Oracle is a complex tool. I have been using Oracle…

Has consistently delivered high performance and aligned security while evolving with AI-driven improvements
When discussing Oracle Exadata, the main thing is the specialized database appliance, the flash cache, and the engineered machine on the database for the database itself. Overall, all the features are useful and meaningful for any database like Oracle to run the Oracle database. Regarding Smart Scan technology, it is for better performance. If a customer cannot tune their applications, this will help them to run the database and run the application without any tuning itself. Oracle Exadata's advanced compression techniques have affected my customer's data storage efficiency positively, with the feature being great, but as of now, our customer is not using that. I find its security measures align with my customer's organization, as security is aligned as per the customer's requirement. It has helped optimize performance and cost.

Pros

"One advantage is that if you already have an Oracle Database, it easily integrates with that."
"I loved the simplicity of loading the data and simply relying on the self-tuning capabilities of ADW."
"With Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, things are much simpler. Creating a structure, initializing the servers, extending the servers, those are all things that are very, very easy. That's the main reason we use it."
"The autonomous database provides several benefits and unmatched performance."
"It is a very stable tool...It is an extremely scalable tool."
"The analytics have been very good. We've found them to be quite useful."
"I really like the auto-tuning, auto-scaling, automatic load balancing, and query tuning in the system."
"I loved the simplicity of loading the data and simply relying on the self-tuning capabilities of ADW."
"I like its reliability."
"Oracle is known to be the number one in their industry; the help and support, the features they are giving the clients comparing to other databases, the new technology, the provide a good solution."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle Exadata is the storage available."
"After moving to Oracle Exadata, we were able to add more users, and queries get executed very quickly for data warehousing, around one quarter to half the time when compared to our previous solution under normal conditions."
"Provides data analytics and helps with warehouse needs."
"Most importantly, it delivers an excellent Oracle database performance for any type of workload (OLTP or batch/OLAP)."
"This is a really good solution; initially, query issues are expected but once stabilized, an amazing performance is expected."
"Exadata storage is very fast and it gives really good performance."

Cons

"The solution could be improved by allowing for migration tools from other cloud services, including migration from Amazon Redshift, RDS, and Aurora."
"It doesn't work well when you have unstructured data or you need online analytics. It is not as nice as Hadoop in these aspects."
"I would like to see Application Express and Oracle R Enterprise fully supported, and I would like to see Oracle Data Mining supported as a front end."
"Ease of connectivity could be improved."
"It is very important the integration with other platforms be made to be as easy as it is with an on-premises deployment."
"We are not satisfied with the technical support. Their understanding is lacking."
"It is good as data warehouses go, but it is not that good for really big data."
"I would like to see an on-premise solution in the future."
"The integration with third-party applications regarding access management security could be better."
"Oracle Exadata compatibility with the analytics could be better and the OBIEE could improve. Oracle BI to Exadata needs to be improved. Even if the full analytics practice for Oracle should be improved and when compared with other solutions it is weak."
"Performance is what we always tend to work on and it could still be improved."
"Yes, I have actually. Kind of hit and miss. It depends, I guess, on the support engineer really. I think I got more misses than hits."
"We have experienced some issues with processing unstructured data on Exadata. This is an important requirement for our AIML based use case."
"Even though it is kind of expensive. If I was rating it just on cost, I would rate it much lower."
"Oracle should offer free cell node licensing to encourage current RAC clients to switch."
"The ASR system with the jump gate was more problematic than the Exadata setup."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price depends on the configuration we choose."
"We pay approximately $70,000 per month. The cost includes maintenance and support."
"The licensing cost of the product can vary since you can integrate it very easily with other products or other cloud products...You pay as you use it, so it is not yearly or monthly payments to be made toward Oracle."
"The solution is expensive."
"In terms of architecture and pricing structure, I feel it is a little bit costly compared to Azure. It's fine compared to RedShift, but compared to Azure, it's a bit pricey when you calculate for one TB storage plus around five hours of reporting with the frequency of 1TB data. The cost adds up, making Oracle a bit expensive."
"ROI is high."
"Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse's pricing is fair and reasonable compared to the other cloud vendors."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is a low price and ten is a high price, I rate the pricing an eight."
"The pricing of Oracle Exadata is too high."
"The price is very high."
"The majority of our customers are in government or big enterprises, and the projects that we sell come out to several million USD. With this amount of money on the table, it's always better to have an experienced team of consultants, who know Exadata very well, handle the implementation."
"Our customers are always looking to reduce the license's cost."
"Exadata is an expensive tool, but, considering the ROI, it's worth going for the solution."
"The price of Oracle Exadata is expensive. It is not competitive with other solutions some of the times."
"The solution takes a lot of time to clone the environment. I would like to see some improvement in the cloning support or the time it takes on the storage side."
"The price of the solution has been expensive to implement."
