Technical support is knowledgeable and quick to respond
It is used for compliance Gathering information Scheduling It needs to have better reporting.  More than five years. We have not encountered any issues with stability. We have not encountered any issues with scalability. I would rate the technical support very well as they are…

Helps us detect cyber threats quickly and integrate multiple feeds effectively
Overall, the product is good, but when it comes to some infrastructure issues, we have to dig into more logs. There is no straightforward indication of an issue. Health check kind of dashboards are not available. More AI would help us, and more optimization, since security products run more queries. The AI module could suggest solutions, optimizing queries or workload balancing. If the product itself advises on running queries during peak times, it would be similar to what ChatGPT currently offers. We see quite a few issues on stability. Even last week, we faced something, and identifying bottlenecks is not easy. We need more SMEs, and there is no mechanism to tell us about indexer or search head issues. Self-monitoring dashboards could be beneficial. The technical support still requires more improvement. Often, primary support takes a lot of time and forwards most solutions to the engineering side. The primary support team has very limited knowledge to provide.

Pros

"I would rate the technical support very well as they are knowledgeable and quick to respond."
"Splunk Enterprise Security has helped improve my organization's business resilience by fulfilling gaps in forensics, incident management, IRP, and data management while helping us mature our security operations."
"The most valuable feature of Splunk Enterprise Security is website activity monitoring."
"We have found all the features useful. However, the dashboarding and logging have been very helpful. Additionally, the log analysis does a great job."
"The completeness of the solution is what we like the most."
"Splunk has machine learning which is a valuable feature."
"Great platform with user-friendly interface and GUI."
"Splunk Enterprise Security's risk-based alerting has been a game-changer for us, adding intelligence to alerts by considering behavioral or internal asset-based criteria, effectively helping us prioritize alerts and filtering out noise that can be ignored."
"It actually helps us by not having to develop all the use cases ourselves, providing an integrated product that has everything in one place."

Cons

"It was very complex. There was poor native correlation. "
"It needs to have better reporting. "
"If you have to do your own stuff, such as customized charts, it is a little bit more work, but once you're familiar with the Splunk query language, you can pretty much do whatever you want. In terms of features, it should probably have the features that other competitors provide."
"Stability is there, but every release has some bugs."
"Endpoint access is the only issue I can think to mention, even though the endpoint access we have with Cisco is fine."
"Splunk Enterprise Security can be improved by including backup network detection and response and safe management to the paid platform."
"Splunk Enterprise Security could improve in automation, flexibility, and providing more content out of the box."
"The product could be cheaper."
"Certain sections of the developer documentation could use some updating and clarification."
"When you get into large amounts of data, Splunk can get pretty slow. This is the same on-premise or AWS, it doesn't matter. The way that they handle large data sets could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Do a PoC. Make it detailed so it can help later."
"Splunk is priced higher than other solutions."
"While Splunk is more expensive than other solutions, we would still choose it because of its capabilities."
"ROI is estimated at saving my team roughly 10 to 12 man hours per week in troubleshooting for our company as well as what our profits had been from our services of installing, configuring, and supporting other clients with the product."
"I remember Splunk being relatively affordable. Kibana was more reasonable, but you get more with Splunk. If I was suggesting something, I would probably suggest Splunk because it is better to pay a little bit more and get a lot more."
"It can be cost-prohibitive when you start to scale and have terabytes of data. Its cost model is based on how much data it processes a day. If they're able to create scaled-down niche or custom package offerings, it may help with the cost. Instead of the full-blown features, if they can narrow the scope where it can only be used for a specific purpose, it would kind of create that market for the product, and it may help with the costing. When you start using it as a central aggregator and you're pumping tons of logs at it, pretty soon, you'll start hitting your cap on what it can process a day. Once you've got that, you're kind of defeating the purpose because you're going to have to scale back."
"I think we recently switched to the SVC pricing compared to the ingest pricing."
"It can be tough to determine if you are getting all of the value out of your investment at times."
"Splunk can be an expensive solution. It all depends on how we configure the alerts and the events from the endpoints. You can save some money if you do that correctly. If not, it becomes an expensive solution."
