The analytics and reporting can be a bit overwhelming. I love the dashboards, but I find that I need to better understand PowerQuery—specifically when to turn it on and off and its limitations. It's similar to SharePoint in that regard. As a former SharePoint instructor, I know it like the back of my hand. The best thing about SharePoint is that it can do whatever you want; the worst part is also that it can do whatever you want. You really need to know what you want before diving in. Most people usually have a good idea of what they need. SharePoint offers a lot out of the box, but you can customize it further if you wish. However, customization often requires hiring someone, which can be risky since you never know if it will work as intended. On the other hand, PowerQuery can help bridge some of those gaps within Singularity. The challenge arises when you want to incorporate what you've done into dashboards and charts, as there are limitations. For instance, I want more clickable drill-down options that allow me to filter on specific sections of the data, but that's currently not possible. It’s not to say that improvements won’t come in the future; it's just that it feels a bit early at this stage. Additionally, I find some navigation features frustrating, like the back button in certain contexts. For example, if you open PowerQuery from a chart, it doesn't open in a new window or tab. Clicking the back button takes you all the way back to the previous state, causing you to lose whatever progress you made. However, I'm actively providing this feedback to my partner, Pro Circular, through whom we access SentinelOne. They take our input seriously, and I've been sharing my observations. They have their own views but are addressing the issues I raise. It's good to see that suggestions occasionally lead to updates and improvements.

Automated security monitoring increases efficiency, but market visibility needs improvement
I am currently evaluating Stellar Cyber Open XDR in terms of their support. I do not see any major areas for improvement as of now. Their support is good, and the team is small, enabling them to cater to everyone effectively. While I have not encountered significant drawbacks so far, market penetration is challenging due to the product's newness, despite its flexibility and customization features. I find their user interface to be quite good.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Previously, we had some processes related to incident response which required more steps. We needed to upload to VirusTotal, Sandbox, et cetera. Now, this process is shortened because all of the information we need is already in SentinelOne. We can briefly analyze and even respond from one management console. If someone has SOC, using the API, they can control everything. It's very cool. I think this is the future."
"It's quite scalable."
"The Deep Visibility feature is the most useful part of the EDR platform. It gives us good insights into what is actually happening on the endpoints, e.g., when we have malicious or suspicious activity. We came from a legacy type AV previously, so we didn't have that level of visibility or understanding. For simplifying threat-hunting, it is extremely useful, where traditional techniques in threat hunting are quite laborious. We can put in indicators of compromise and it will sweep the environment for them, then they would give us a breakdown of what assets have been seen and where they have been seen, which is more of a forensics overview."
"The solution's in-place upgrades have been very helpful."
"The tool deletes the problem-causing process and prevents issues."
"The most valuable features of SentinelOne Singularity Complete are machine learning because it saves us time, device control for data privacy, and the token."
"The web portal has a really good web UI, and all the things are well integrated."
"The Ranger feature is valuable."
"It can integrate with almost any cybersecurity tool available in the market."
"Stellar Cyber Open XDR offers these functionalities at a more affordable price, making it easier for me to position it with price-sensitive customers."

Cons

"We'd like to have a network map or scan to cover network security."
"There is room for improvement with the management interface. It could be more user friendly."
"One area for improvement is automated deployment. I use it through a group policy. I put in the PC name, and when the user logs in, if the PC is in that group, it attempts an MSI install through Active Directory via GPO. That seems to play a little havoc and can conflict with manual installs, causing issues where it wants to delete and reinstall the client."
"I would like SentinelOne to add a threat-hunting report and more UEBA features. They could add more SIEM functionality. It would be nice to have the ability to easily drag all the logs from the agents, so there's no need for multiple agents installed on the endpoint."
"It would be nice to be able to adjust the canned reports manually and choose the specific data we want to report on instead of being limited to their pre-set reports."
"They are still largely an EDR product."
"Email security should also integrate with it to get more visibility on it."
"The ability to have more direct purchasing for smaller groups and smaller businesses would be great."
"Support is an issue because they have a limited number of resources."
"I would rate the stability at about five to six. The platform requires some fine-tuning, especially when integrating data sources and creating connectors."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"SentinelOne Singularity Complete is expensive compared to Microsoft but not Sophos."
"The price for it is very competitive compared to other Next Gen EPP."
"SentinelOne Singularity Complete is reasonably priced."
"SentinelOne makes licensing easy by reducing the number of modules or packages that they have to offer. A lot of other vendors make licensing very complicated with separate modules or separate costs. By bundling necessary features, SentinelOne ensures that security leaders are not left confused by options. This bundling of necessities has served our needs well."
"SentinelOne Singularity Complete meets all enterprise requirements and is priced accordingly."
"The licensing is convenient, straightforward, and very clear."
"SentinelOne was half the price of CrowdStrike."
"The pricing for SentinelOne Singularity Complete is competitive."
"It’s a single license platform."
