I use Dell PowerEdge XR-Series for high-end applications, management installation of Active Directory, application installs, ESXi host for virtualization, and other components.

If it doesn't give value for banking to be using it for their core application, it won't be successful, but it is a very good server and a very good high-end server that gives compatibility, and the performance also is pretty good.

I do work with the dual power supply feature.

The way the dual power supply helps is in case there is a power failure on one of the legs; because of the dual power supply, you won't have downtime, meaning that your system will still be up and running pending the time you rectify the one that has an issue. That is the essence of dual power supply.

It does help to protect my organization with advanced security features.

It helps to protect in the sense that the data is more secure, as it's not being breached by an outsider.

Data redundancy is very important for my company in the sense that I need to create a RAID on my OS; in case one drive fails, I wouldn't have to lose my data. Whether it is a RAID 1 or RAID 5, it depends on the type of RAID configuration I choose during my setup of the system.

I've not seen any negative side. The only thing I can see is the board, maybe the power input that enters the board; because there was one that I was using before that the board had an issue. It might be that the power input from the source that damaged the board. There can be a protection regarding that, which I think would be pretty good so that the board will not be damaged.

I suggest a protection mechanism that can protect the power issue from damaging the board.

I've been using Dell PowerEdge XR-Series for six years now.

I don't see any problems with performance in extreme conditions.

It's generally stable. Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is stable.

There is no limitation in scalability with Dell PowerEdge XR-Series.

It's excellent regarding technical support from Dell.

I have been using some other rack servers from other vendors, particularly HP.

Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is a super server, so compared to HP, I see big differences from the technical side.

It's very straightforward for deployment.

I worked together with the Dell team for deployment, and at times, when I purchased, I did the deployment myself.

I have seen some return on investment since I'm using Dell PowerEdge XR-Series.

I can say it's around 40%.

In terms of pricing, it depends on the configuration I set during the quote and the configuration I try to make use of. It might also depend on the processor, the number of RAM, the type of CPU, and the number of drives that I want to be in the server itself. The price varies.

My major use cases for Dell PowerEdge XR-Series are for a hyper-converged solution.

If I had to say something positive about it, the biggest benefit is the good compatibility with third-party software such as VMware or Nutanix.

The performance of the product in extreme conditions is good; it can run in critical workloads with not much hardware issue.

We use a dual power supply feature.

To explain how it helped improve system uptime, it can ensure that during power maintenance in the data center, it can continue to operate.

I see it is beneficial for my company, and regarding security for Dell, it has the disk encryption capability which helps us to achieve compliance easily.

I see areas for improvement in Dell PowerEdge XR-Series as sometimes there is some delay during the boot time;

we occasionally need to disable some ROM options to prevent a boot delay or a network boot loop.

I have been using the XR series Dell PowerEdge XR-Series since 2019.

It is mostly stable.

Regarding the scalability of Dell PowerEdge XR-Series, it is easy to scale.

Regarding technical support, I think it is good and good enough.

I do see some ROI with Dell PowerEdge XR-Series, for example, like savings in time and money.

It is kind of hard to say definitively, but I can say it is about a three-year ROI.

I calculate the ROI based on reutilization, and I think it is about three years.

Regarding the price of the product, compared to other vendors, I think the price makes sense; it is not that competitive, but it is affordable.

I compare pricing with HP and the Huawei brand, the X-Sphere or something similar.

In the cases of Lenovo and HP, the pricing model is better.

If we compare solutions technically, I think that Dell and HP are basically almost equivalent in terms of features, but Dell can be more user-friendly.

I still work with the same products, and I am still using Delinea, AWS, and CyberArk.

From the Delinea side, I work only with Secret Server.

From AWS, I am using RDS and EKS.

To summarize what solutions I am using from AWS Cloud, I utilize microservice architecture on AWS, and with Control Tower, I can see the granular security fine-tuned for a large organization.

Regarding the product Wickr, I am not using it for instant communication, security, and compliance.

I am exploring solutions such as a VDI solution and a Desktop as a Service solution. I only explore today; I am not using VDI products.

Regarding security products, we are using Dell and Cisco ACI.

Regarding Cisco XDR, I am not using it.

For servers, I am using Dell PowerEdge XR-Series.

The series is a rack server; I forgot the model.

I think we have both the XR series and XE series.

Regarding the XR2 modularity aspect, I am not sure.

Data redundancy from RAID configurations is currently not as important for me because we have software-defined storage that can control data durability; thus, the RAID configuration is less important nowadays.

My overall review rating for this product is 8 out of 10.

Dell PowerEdge XR-Series serves as the platform for our VMware. We do not run AI workloads on them.

The features I appreciate most are the management capabilities, specifically the hardware management. These features have benefited our organization by allowing us to identify when hard drives are going to fail, which relates to failure rates. Dell PowerEdge servers have helped reduce unplanned production downtime by approximately 30% because we are able to handle issues immediately.

I could always make them faster and smaller.

I would evaluate customer service and tech support at the highest level. They have always been able to resolve issues immediately for us.

Prior to adopting Dell PowerEdge XR-Series, the company was using HP gear as a solution.

I did not consider any other options before making the decision on Dell. I depended on the vendor to help us out, and I had used Dell before, so it was always something I appreciated working on in the past.

My role in using and managing Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is as a systems engineer. I work on everything from configuring and setting up to deployment.

Dell PowerEdge XR-Series affects the overall flexibility of our operations and business as it is a great platform. I do not see why we would go anywhere else at this time.

I do not think there has been any reduction in total cost of ownership. We lease our gear, so it is not our equipment to own.

Regarding assessing Dell PowerEdge XR-Series for energy consumption, I do not have those numbers as that would be a different department's responsibility. My focus is on making the servers function.

Regarding any impressions on the impact on our organization's sustainability goals, I am not certain about that. For me, as long as my server is working, my primary concern is its operational performance.

The factor that made us switch was that we moved from an ownership model to a lease model. When we were discussing options with resellers, Dell came ahead of the competition on that proposal.

My use case for Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is rack servers, which host the virtual machines for our VoIP solution from Avaya.

The best features in Dell PowerEdge XR-Series are all-flash storage, which is easy to implement and install, and it was also easy to upgrade.

The advanced security features in our organization help protect the infrastructure as we work in the energy industry of oil and gas, helping to protect data and privacy.

In Dell PowerEdge XR-Series, I do not have any problems but am thinking about an area of improvement.

Customization could be improved; more customization options are needed.

I would like more customization on reports and analytics.

I have been using Dell PowerEdge XR-Series for almost two years because we made the data center technology refresh from two years ago, renewing all the hardware.

I rate the stability as 10, so it is a stable product.

I rate the technical support as very good; we did not contact them much for support, but maybe one or two times they were replacing the storage.

Right now, I do not have any other solution from other vendors, but during the evaluation time, at the beginning of the tender, it was either Dell solutions or HP solutions. We mainly decided to go with Dell solutions according to Dell PowerStore and Dell Net domain. The server is not in the evaluation metrics that much, but perhaps the price is slightly more than other solutions.

It took a few days for Dell PowerEdge XR-Series to be deployed.

All the company uses the data center but not through direct interfacing; it hosts the virtual machines, which contain business applications for everything, including HR applications, SAP applications, storage and shared folders, printing service, SharePoint services, and all the services, so almost all the company utilizes the whole infrastructure.

Approximately 500 people in my company use Dell PowerEdge XR-Series.

I can use Dell PowerEdge XR-Series for general virtual machines, and that is the major use case.

Stability, good performance, and good tools to manage the system are the best features for me. The vendor provides me with the tools, and I can monitor the status from one place for maintenance and updating the driver and firmware. Additionally, the high availability of this server with a short time of delivery is valuable. Stability and good performance are crucial since I use it generally for applications and also for services with a high load. The CPU usage on SQL Server has good performance with a good stack of CPU. It is one place to manage, with the vendor delivering the tools to manage and perform maintenance, making it comfortable for me.

Dell PowerEdge XR-Series helps improve system uptime. I use a redundant power supply. When our data center provider performs maintenance for supply, I disable one line of supply, and the system can switch to a redundant power supply. This has not been an issue for a few years. Twice per year, our data center vendor tests the supply by switching it; one line is disabled, and there is no problem with the switch for redundant supply.

Dell PowerEdge XR-Series receives very regular updates of firmware and software, so the system is patched regularly. This is good maintenance for the system.

I do not find any significant drawbacks or areas for improvement in Dell PowerEdge XR-Series. The support could work faster, but that is the only small thing that could be better.

I have been using this product for seven years.

I have had examples where performance was critical in extreme conditions. I have a huge instance of an SQL Server where I need about thirty CPU cores for the SQL instance. Sometimes the usage is about eighty to ninety percent, but it is very stable and performs well without crashing. There are no issues after a few years when the system is up-to-date with firmware and drivers also up-to-date. Stability is not an issue for a few years, which is important because it is for a production environment where I need the solution's stability and availability.

I have not observed any glitches, latency, or downtime, so it performs well.

Dell PowerEdgeXR-Series is a scalable product and is not expensive to scale. The solution has good scalability, which was our decision to choose this solution.

Regarding technical support from Dell, I would say support is acceptable. I do not use it very often, but when I do, I receive assistance. Sometimes the first contact, the first line, is more theoretical and has many questions, but it is acceptable.

I find deploying Dell PowerEdge XR-Series quite easy. The complexity with deploying it does not require big experience; it is intuitive and simple. The configuration is simpler with a good guide. In my opinion, you do not lose time configuring it. After unpacking and powering on, it takes a few minutes to configure management and the management network. Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is easy to install, very easy. It does not require experience or deep knowledge.

I did my deployment by myself, without using an integrator, reseller, or consultant.

For the price, I would say Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is affordable, but I do not have the occasion to compare it with different products, so I do not know how the situation looks. Therefore, I cannot say if it is positive or negative.

When I compare Dell PowerEdge XR-Series to a hyper-converged solution such as Nutanix, I find that Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is more cost-effective. When I build a disaster recovery site, I compare a solution of Dell PowerEdge XR-Series plus PowerStore with hyper-convergence infrastructure such as Nutanix, and there are big differences in favor of Dell PowerEdge XR-Series.

Regarding the percentage of time-saving or money-saving, it is time-saving; it is the same. I do not see a difference between one solution and the other. However, from a cost-effective standpoint to achieve the same performance of RAM and CPU, it is a plus for Dell PowerEdge XR-Series.

I still work with the same set of products, which are Veritas, Dell, and F5. I work with something apart from PowerStore, which is Dell PowerEdge XR-Series. I use rack servers, specifically the R series. I work with Dell as a customer and user of Dell. I do not work with the modularity feature. I do not track metrics, but I do not use the local disk; I use the storage of the networks, so data locally is not checked. For PowerStore, I would say the same as now. For servers, I would not say the same, but for PowerStore, I would. I give this product a rating of nine out of ten.

I usually use Dell PowerEdge XR-Series to build images and build code to image for deployment.

I used to build code with Dell PowerEdge XR-Series, and the time it takes depends on the project scope, ranging from half an hour to several hours.

I appreciate the management tool, iDRAC, in Dell PowerEdge XR-Series. iDRAC is convenient for administrators to use when managing Dell PowerEdge XR-Series.

Regarding the weakness of Dell PowerEdge XR-Series, I think the main drawback is that it is more expensive than other servers.

The price of Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is expensive, and there are much cheaper products available than Dell PowerEdge XR-Series.

I have used Dell PowerEdge XR-Series for more than two years, possibly three or four years.

Dell XR2 Rugged Server's technology is always on the competitive edge, with the most current technology. They have proven reliability. If you're looking for a mission-critical system and support is important to you, then this is something a solution you should consider.

I rate Dell XR2 Rugged Server a nine out of ten.

We are customers of Dell and I'm the CEO of the company. 

The storage and the disc performance in terms of IOPS is great because of the RAID card which is built-in. The other valuable element of the product is the GPU compatibility which provides us with great graphical performance in the virtual desktops. That aspect is usually a challenge in other solutions. 

One of our issues is that we currently have an eight-bay system. I'd like to migrate to a 16-bay system, but there isn't a modular option available. I'd also like to see upgrade options on the storage cards, which would be helpful. In terms of additional features, I think options for improving cryptographic performance would be great. It may not be a global end-user requirement, but that's something that we would expect to see.

I've been using this solution for over five years. 

The solution is very stable, we haven't had any downtime in five years. 

The solution is scalable to a degree but now we feel the need to scale to 16 bays which means we also need the storage RAID controller to be scalable.

The technical support is excellent, including the remote support. The Dell support team utilizes some really good sophisticated tools to provide remote support. We sometimes required their help to configure and understand certain parameters to fine tune the performance.

The licensing costs are reasonable and that's part of the reason I went with Dell. The cost was around 40% less than what we were offered by the resellers. 

My recommendation would be to go through the complete server configuration documents and the manual. Ascertain clearly your use case and from there you can really leverage the performance and scalability benefits.
