Comprehensive support and integration ensure smooth cloud infrastructure operations
I may not be the right person to comment on advanced improvements because we are just using basic functionalities. We are getting all the functionalities which we used to get in other OEM rack servers. Potential areas for improvement may include a more flexible pricing model, better technical support, or tutorials from the vendor for users.

Redfish manageability has supported remote site operations and consistent private cloud deployment
I think Dell PowerEdge R-Series can be improved in appearance. I would say that the improvement opportunity is probably on the monitoring side, the overall monitoring side. I would love to see closer integration with different vendors. As a company, we are still using a multi-vendor approach and cannot go all-in with one single vendor. What we struggle with is that we cannot afford to have three different monitoring systems, management systems, or lifecycle management systems for different environments. I would love to see in the future how that integrates with other vendors as well. Perhaps not as a primary tool, but at least some features and functions from other vendors.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"On the Cisco side, there is a benefit in terms of server management. Cisco provides UCS Manager, which is a multi-tenant site manager. We can manage multiple sites while maintaining disaster recovery, a feature not available on other platforms."
"The solution is stable."
"The product doesn't take up too much space on the rack and I like that."
"We have many people in my organization using Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers in the administration."
"In summary, this is a good product and it's sustainable."
"The processors are so strong that they can deliver AI solutions without any additional GPU card, but we are also using some GPUs, which surely gives even better results."
"The most valuable features of Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers are agileness, ease of operation, and manageability."
"It is very nice and stable with an easy administration GUI."
"Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is better compared to other servers and runs more efficiently, with stability and reliability that have been good so far."
"The performance of the product in extreme conditions is good; it can run in critical workloads with not much hardware issue."
"The most positive aspect of Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is the availability, which is very high, and the support and services are very good."
"The best features in Dell PowerEdge XR-Series are all-flash storage, which is easy to implement and install, and it was also easy to upgrade."
"Dell PowerEdge XR-Series is a super server, so compared to HP, I see big differences from the technical side."
"The scalability of the Dell XR2 Rugged Server is good and easy to do."
"Stability, good performance, and good tools to manage the system are the best features for me."
"What I like the most about Dell PowerEdge R-Series is probably the Redfish manageability, which provides management, remote management, and remote configuration capabilities."

Cons

"Technical support could be more responsive."
"Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers can improve by providing customization features to allow us to deploy them on the cloud. For example, we need VMware to allow us to accomplish a cloud deployment."
"The C-Series is not designed to be as scalable."
"Its accessibility and manageability can be improved. Currently, we have to visit the office to manage it. It should be manageable outside our network. I would like it to be on the cloud."
"The only thing I would change is to provide more proactive support."
"There is very little scalability for the cluster. If you need a higher availability, there is a user limitation. So that is the low side."
"The price of the solution is problematic, not the solution itself. It could be less expensive."
"The product's stability and delivery time could be better."
"I suggest virtualizing the CPU between multiple operating systems on the same server."
"The support could work faster, but that is the only small thing that could be better."
"It lacks a modular option to expand to a 16-bay system."
"Regarding the weakness of Dell PowerEdge XR-Series, I think the main drawback is that it is more expensive than other servers."
"I see areas for improvement in Dell PowerEdge XR-Series as sometimes there is some delay during the boot time; we occasionally need to disable some ROM options to prevent a boot delay or a network boot loop."
"One of our issues is that we currently have an eight-bay system. I'd like to migrate to a 16-bay system, but there isn't a modular option available."
"Service is a specific aspect that could be improved, but it is nothing bad."
"Customization could be improved; more customization options are needed."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis, which is only $2,000 or $3,000."
"The solution is moderately priced."
"The price of the solution could be better when compared to other solutions. However, when we purchased the solution we received Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers in a bundle with other hardware, such as IP phones and networking switches."
"The pricing is expensive."
"The price of Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers is high."
"Best to buy all the blades configured for the same purposes of load balancing and failover or load shifting."
"The solution is expensive and I give the price a four out of ten."
"The solution could be more cost-effective."
"The price of one Dell XR2 Rugged Server is approximately $10,000."
