Workforce benchmarking platform that has transformed the way we onboard new users

What is our primary use case?

We want to become a tech communications company and not just a communications company. We want to be a leading provider of next generation, digital skills, services and products. That means we need to attract, train and retain a very different skillset. The first challenge was to create a website which allows us to attract the right skills and allow people to understand how they could develop.

We want to add 7,000 software engineers to our environment but our website feels very old and clunky. We wanted something which created a rich, digital experience and allows people to feel like we are a leading technology company. Eightfold is helping us do this. 

How has it helped my organization?

AI is the only way to build a sustainable learning model and we have received positive feedback within our organization. Our data shows a significant increase in people doing non-managed training. This means that these users believe in investing the time to develop themselves. We are focusing on increasing the number of internal people promoted by 50%. 

We want to change the way people think of our organization. We have this ambition to provide a growth-focused and inclusive environment where everybody has the opportunity to thrive. We have seen great rates of adoption of the functionality in this solution that empowers this goal.

Average days to hire has been reduced because the Eightfold has made it much easier. We have also reduced the time it takes to create a role using the Eightfold job intelligence engine.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature has been the ease at which people can set up their profiles by simply uploading their CV or Linkedin profile. We previously had very low levels of adoption. 

In the short time we've been live, nearly 50% of users have already created a profile. Once they've done that, they can see what skills are linked to their profile. They can also see what skills they would need to go into a different career. We link this data to our learning experience platform to create a really personal and purposeful experience.

We are able to now focus more on skills. We've seen a 106% increase in people that go to our website and apply. We have facilitated the hire of 144 more females. We want to democratize opportunities in terms of jobs, learning and experiences.

What needs improvement?

We would like to be able to combine a great experience as a candidate with an onboarding experience. We would like to add bands to different user levels to help make searching for candidates in the same level a lot easier.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for five months. 

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution and all of our minimum standards have been met.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service and support for this solution is brilliant. We have had very few issues and when we have, they have been resolved very quickly. 

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I implemented SuccessFactors previously but we realised we were not going to get the value from all the features that it offered and were missing AI functionality. We added another product called BLEND on top of SuccessFactors. We have also used IBM Watson. 

We spent six months searching for other solution on the market before choosing Eightfold. The reason we chose Eightfold is for its AI capabilities and recommendations. The ability to upload CVs and use this information to provide recommendations has been really useful. The quality of the AI is way ahead of any other solutions on the market. Eightfold really took the time to understand the outcomes we need to achieve. They are always willing to engage with us and understand what's really important to us.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was straightforward. We signed the contract in August. We went live with 20 plus markets and 75,000 people on the 31st of January with a minimal viable product that worked really well.

What was our ROI?

We are starting to see a decent ROI when it comes to what we paid for the solution and the value we receive.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is fair compared to the market.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We started our selection process asking, "What functionality do we need?" We then narrowed it down to three solutions before choosing Eightfold. We made this decision based on which solution could best support us in meeting our strategic objectives. 

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution an eight out often. All of our business needs are met using this solution.

My advice to others would be to focus on the outcomes. Take the time to write proper user stories of what you're trying to achieve with AI. Don't focus too much on AI as a single technology or vendors that offer this functionality. Rather focus on the outcomes and provide this context to the different vendors you're exploring, and then compare what they offer.

We use this solution to identify the right talent. It's more about an opportunity than a problem. Understanding talent is the big problem and opportunity is recruitment at scale and at speed. 

How has it helped my organization?

This solution is easy to use for our business case. Not all of our employees have used Eightfold's features yet. It is still contained to talent-related professionals who have found it easy to use. It only takes a couple of hours for people with no knowledge at all to start to leverage the benefits of this solution.

The platform's ability to understand skills versus keywords as a talent intelligence platform is its key differentiator. The power of Eightfold is that you get to understand skills in a dynamic way and in real-time. 

This solution has allowed our team to focus on higher-value activities and to make sure that they are optimizing time to identify talent and match it to opportunities. They can then focus on the layers where humans are necessary.

One of the valuable aspects of solutions like Eightfold is their ability to talk to and integrate with other solutions. It has increased the opportunity for candidates to find jobs that they are genuinely interested in.

When using external talent acquisition, the opportunity to match people to roles has been very powerful. This allows them to accelerate their relationship with our company.

It is important that Eightfold understands how it forms part of the entire experience, especially as they continue to scale. Eightfold should make sure they understand how it connects with other solutions in our technology ecosystem to drive the full user experience.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution. 

How are customer service and support?

I would rate the technical support for this solution an eight and a half out of ten. It does require maintenance. The Eightfold team does a very good job when it comes to maintaining it and it is easy for us to maintain internally. We've tried to not customize it beyond what is strictly necessary, and that has really helped reduce the maintenance burden.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

What drew us to Eightfold was the opportunity to remove some of the boundaries that this market has had traditionally. Using Eightfold, we wanted to build a unified perspective of talent using internal and external data. The other solutions we considered only looked at data either from an internal or external perspective. This is why we chose Eightfold.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not as complex as the internal change management and integration across technologies. It took us a few months to deploy the external side. We ran a couple of pilots internally and that helped us understand the platform much better. When we moved on to deployment, we already had a base level understanding of the technology and how it needed to be integrated.

The initial setup was a good experience. We found Eightfold to be very responsive. It was a very customized deployment because of our architecture and our technology stack. There were customizations and things that had to happen to adapt to the reality of our business. 

What other advice do I have?

From an implementation and deployment point of view, it's always better to start small and explore. The biggest challenge when implementing this solution is not the technology but rather the behavioral change management.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.
