What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I'd rate the stability ten out of ten. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It is reliable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We have ten to 20 users currently using it. It is scalable. We do have a plan to increase usage, although I'm not sure of the exact plan.
It's a bit expensive and therefore not extensively used.
How are customer service and support?
I've never contacted technical support. I can't speak to how helpful or responsive they would be.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I did not previously use a different solution. This is the first tool of its kind that I have used.
How was the initial setup?
It is straightforward to set up. We managed to deploy it in two to three weeks. We were able to migrate all the platforms over without issue. The architecture must be clear, and if that's the case, you don't have any issues.
What about the implementation team?
We managed the setup ourselves in-house. We did not need any outside assistance from integrators or consultants while handling the implementation process.
What was our ROI?
I have not witnessed any ROI while using the solution.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The solution is expensive. We pay for the solution yearly. I'm not sure if there are also extra costs on top of the main licensing cost.
What other advice do I have?
I am using the latest version of the solution.
I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. New users wouldn't have an issue with the product. It's a good choice.

Straightforward implementation, reliable, and no license needed
Pros and Cons
- "The solution has been reliable."
- "The price of the solution could be less to improve."
What is our primary use case?
We are using IIS for a web and application server.
What is most valuable?
The solution has been reliable.
What needs improvement?
The price of the solution could be less to improve.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using IIS for a long time.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
IIS is a stable solution. However, we use load balancers when we want to scale.
How are customer service and support?
The support from IIS is good compared to other vendors. However, the support is pooling over to the cloud reducing their support for on-premise.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have used JBoss and open-source Tomcat. Depending on the use we will use a particular solution. For example, if we use .NET as a core, we will use IIS.
How was the initial setup?
The implementation of IIS is straightforward. We do mostly MSI deployments but sometimes we do it manually.
If automation is used the deployment can be done quickly.
What about the implementation team?
Depending on where we deploy the solution will determine if we use assistance. We use approximately two people for the deployment of the solution. However, The size of the service and the manner in which it is deployed or if it is automated will determine the number of people required for the deployment. Without utilizing such tools, as automation, additional personnel will be necessary.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
There is no license needed to use the solution.
What other advice do I have?
The newer version of the solution works better.
We use two people for the maintenance of the solution.
I would recommend this solution. If the user is developing around .NET then this solution is needed.
I rate IIS an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

Lacking documentation, difficult installation, but effective for large sized companies
Pros and Cons
- "IIS is stable."
- "The documentation of IIS could be better. They are not easily accessible. I had to use YouTube and other online resources to learn how to use the solution properly."
What is our primary use case?
I use IIS for issuing security certificates. For example, when I was trying to deploy direct access, it require a certificate which is issued from services. The service I used comes from IIS.
IIS is for large enterprises who would want to secure and make information private.
What needs improvement?
The documentation of IIS could be better. They are not easily accessible. I had to use YouTube and other online resources to learn how to use the solution properly.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using IIS for approximately a couple of months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
IIS is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I am the only one using this solution in my company.
The solution is scalable for large-sized companies.
How are customer service and support?
I have not used the support from IIS.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously used Microsoft Active Directory. I started using IIS to see how can I deploy a secure certificate from my organization. Deploying certificates often require payment for various services. However, if you have a Windows Server, you can deploy it on-premises without having to go online. However, if you opt to avoid going online, you'll need to have an alternative process in place.
How was the initial setup?
I rate IIS a five out of ten. The time it takes for the deployment depends on your resources. If your resources are optimized, it will not take too long. You must have some knowledge of how to deploy it before you do it. However, typically the deployment takes 10 to 20 minutes.
What about the implementation team?
I did the deployment of the solution myself. Assistance would be useful for large enterprises for the department.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I was using the trial version of IIS inside my virtual machines.
ISS is included if you purchase a Windows Server license, then you can have the possibility to deploy different services.
What other advice do I have?
I would not recommend this solution because there are easier-to-use solutions on the market.
I rate IIS a five out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

IT Enterprise System Administrator at Nafeza
Serves as a port for publishing URLs and helps scan and mitigate vulnerabilities
Pros and Cons
- "It helps scan and mitigates our vulnerabilities using the best protocols to secure our environment."
- "The customer service and support team can be improved."
What is our primary use case?
Our primary use case for the solution is serving as a port for publishing URLs, especially for our share point team. Additionally, it helps scan and mitigates our vulnerabilities using the best protocols to secure our environment. In the world of cybersecurity, there are significant threats in the IT environment, so we have to mitigate all the HTTP URLs that you have in the environment HTTPS and to do so to secure these tunnels and to provide them with the certificate that you want. IIS also provides the option to secure or mitigate the vulnerabilities in your environment by using the safest protocol to avoid any vulnerabilities or scenarios. We deploy the solution on the premises.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is controlling the ports you can use and denying the port you won't use in case anything goes wrong. This is one of the most outstanding features, especially for security.
What needs improvement?
The customer service and support team can be improved.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using the solution for almost 40 years and currently have the latest version implemented.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is very stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable and not exclusive to the system administrator. Some teams, such as the network, SharePoint, and dev ops teams, interfere with this solution. However, it is one of the major features of the IIS.
How are customer service and support?
There is a lack of support from the customer service and support team, and they are very slow. I rate them a five out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Neutral
How was the initial setup?
From my experience, I rate the initial setup a seven out of ten, and the setup took approximately an hour.
What about the implementation team?
We implemented the solution in-house, and one person was required for deployment.
What was our ROI?
We have seen a return on investment, for all the teams, especially for the security and SharePoint team. Most of the work's done through the server, especially the SharePoint team, and they publish all the websites they are using internally for the company. It's related to the employee and released to the business as a newsletter for the company. So, it's very helpful.
What other advice do I have?
I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Data Engineer at Berief Food GmbH
A stable and easy-to-configure solution that provides a lot of good features
Pros and Cons
- "The product is easy to configure."
- "The solution must improve the integration between its databases."
What is our primary use case?
We use the product for our web applications.
What is most valuable?
The product is easy to configure. It has a lot of good features.
What needs improvement?
The solution must improve the integration between its databases. It should also improve the definition of IP addresses and ports for connection.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for more than ten years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate the tool’s stability more than eight out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Compared to other web application services, IIS has better scalability. We have many different programs. A part of our customers use the solution.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is a little complex. Even if we make a little mistake, the configuration still works well.
What about the implementation team?
We need three networking personnel to maintain the product.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We pay a yearly licensing fee for the solution.
What other advice do I have?
I look for network administration aspects in the product. A software person might have a different perspective. I did not configure the solution. My friends configured it. When my friends have a problem, I help them to solve it. IIS is related to software engineers and programmers. IIS is the best solution. Its services are better than other products. Overall, I rate the tool more than eight out of ten.

ICT Manager at Africa International University
Easy to use, integrates will with Microsoft well, and offers a simple initial setup
Pros and Cons
- "The solution integrates well with most Microsoft products."
- "If Microsoft IIS could work well with AppOptics or things like PHP, Python, and other custom languages that run on the webserver, it would be ideal. I think there are cases where people need to use Apache instead of IIS when IIS doesn't work well with other web languages."
What is our primary use case?
We primarily use the solution for application infrastructure.
What is most valuable?
The solution is easy to use.
The solution integrates well with most Microsoft products.
What needs improvement?
The solution doesn't integrate well with all Microsoft products. There are a few that actually don't integrate well with IIS.
If Microsoft IIS could work well with AppOptics or things like PHP, Python, and other custom languages that run on the webserver, it would be ideal. I think there are cases where people need to use Apache instead of IIS when IIS doesn't work well with other web languages.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using the solution for ten years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It's a good solution, but we don't use it on a large scale, so I'm not sure how well it scales. Currently, we have 250 users on it. Most are end-users, but we do have five admins on the solution as well.
How are customer service and technical support?
We've never reached out to technical support. Mostly if we have issues, we look to community support for answers.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We also use Apache Web Server side by side with IIS.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is very straightforward.
What about the implementation team?
We handled the implementation ourselves.
What other advice do I have?
We use the on-premises deployment model.
I'd recommend IIS for almost everything. I would suggest using use case scenarios.
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.

A stable solution useful for the deployment of web applications
Pros and Cons
- "IIS is useful for the deployment of web applications...Its stability is good."
- "Performance-wise, certain improvements in IIS are needed...IIS is not scalable. Its scalability is less."
What is our primary use case?
IIS is useful for the deployment of web applications.
What is most valuable?
There aren't any particular features I found valuable since it is just used for deployment purposes.
What needs improvement?
Performance-wise, certain improvements in IIS are needed.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using IIS for not more than a year now. I also sell IIS.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Its stability is good. People use it widely to host their on-premises applications, like, internal applications on IIS.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is scalable if we include the application stack. IIS is not scalable. Its scalability is less. If we talk about its scalability with respect to the cloud, as we are seeing as of now, it's not that much scalable. We need to put some extra effort into making it scalable. Almost everyone who has a Windows server uses the solution for hosting their internal applications.
How was the initial setup?
The solution's initial setup is a little complex, especially compared to what others provide. It is better than Apache.
If there are no issues, the solution's deployment can be done in an hour or two maximum. Two people are required for the deployment and maintenance of the solution. Also, it depends on the size of the infrastructure and the servers and everything. The requirement for the infrastructure is not that big. So two people are more than enough. One is the administrator, and the other one is the developer. But if there is a lot of development, then the people required for deployment and maintenance would depend on the size of the application.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The cost for IIS is already included in Windows services. We don't have to pay anything extra. We only pay for the Windows server.
What other advice do I have?
I would tell those planning to use the solution depending on their requirement. If the requirement is for on-premises and in an isolated environment, then people install it on the server and start using it. But if the requirement is to go on the cloud and make the website public, then it is preferable to opt for the cloud.
I rate the overall solution an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
