Impressive integration with the ME system but lacking integration with IBP
Pros and Cons
  • "I am impressed with how the solution integrates with the ME system and ALE IDocs."
  • "The solution needs to embed or integrate with IBP to fully activate the PPT module with efficiency."

What is our primary use case?

Our company uses the solution's PDPO manufacturing function for controlling and monitoring the ECMs master material data for MRT planning and exclusions.

We currently have more than 300 users across IT, development, software purchasing, research and development, the warehouse, and sales.

What is most valuable?

I am impressed with how the solution integrates with the ME system and ALE IDocs to combine several good features for any situation.

What needs improvement?

The solution needs to embed or integrate with IBP to fully activate the PPT module with efficiency. Currently, customers need an additional license to activate and that is troublesome.

More automation is needed to provide better function. For example, a shipment should trigger an automatic confirmation.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for seven months.

The stability is very good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is very good.

How are customer service and support?

We receive technical support from a third party. Their service is rated a ten out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used SAP BASIS-1.

We switched to the solution because it removes all expenses related to hardware, licenses for Windows, and database upgrades. If you move to the cloud, you do not need to give time or resources to hardware and software.

How was the initial setup?

The setup and full integration takes about five days.

What about the implementation team?

A third party assisted us with implementation.

Thirty administrators handle ongoing maintenance which includes IT, development, and quality control.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our pricing is based on a yearly contract.

What other advice do I have?

We belong to the electronic consumer industry. The solution is almost the same as the ECC 6.0 version. We want the cloud version to have more automation and a bit of a revamp for better functionality.

I recommend the solution because it is definitely the future. I rate it a six out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

SAP ME is expended ECC PP ALE-IDOC solutions.  For SAP EGO SYSTEM, it is well select but license strategy can be limited to new incoming customer because SAP ME lack of planning or forecast for capacity like APO approach. For customer perspectives, why buy a product only contains half of function for execution and integration without front-end forecast and capacity planning.

The solution's initial setup process is straightforward. Based on the specific project requirements, it takes two or three days to complete. I rate the process an eight or nine.

It performs well and has advanced features, but it's not competitive in terms of price and support
Pros and Cons
  • "Traditionally, SAP worked with Oracle databases, but SAP is getting rid of the other databases and promoting its own. SAP will stop support for other databases around 2026, so everyone is moving to SAP S/4HANA for the performance and because it's the preferred database for SAP. S/4HANA has new features from the front-end or application feature perspective. The idea is to move toward future-ready technology."
  • "SAP support isn't on par with products like Microsoft Azure or AWS. It's nowhere close to the competitors."

What is our primary use case?

My clients are using SAP S/4HANA on the backend of their VRP solution from SAP.

What is most valuable?

Traditionally, SAP worked with Oracle databases, but SAP is getting rid of the other databases and promoting its own. SAP will stop support for other databases around 2026, so everyone is moving to SAP S/4HANA for the performance and because it's the preferred database for SAP. S/4HANA has new features from the front-end or application feature perspective. The idea is to move toward future-ready technology.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good. I don't face any issues on a daily basis.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

SAP HANA's scalability is good.

How are customer service and support?

SAP support isn't on par with products like Microsoft Azure or AWS. It's nowhere close to the competitors.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up SAP HANA is straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is high compared to other databases, which is why HANA is still not widely used. Some enterprises prefer Sybase, Oracle, or other traditional databases because HANA is a little pricey. Cost is one factor SAP needs to work on to make it more competitive with other databases. Otherwise, they'll never be able to develop a mass customer base.

What other advice do I have?

I rate SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud seven out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A stable and fast product that is easy to deploy and has an interface that is easy to manage
Pros and Cons
  • "The interface is easy to manage."
  • "The product must provide more details of the errors."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution to extract data and analyze what the users are doing.

What is most valuable?

I use the interface to build queries. The interface is easy to manage. It is easy to manage the queries.

What needs improvement?

The product must provide more details of the errors. Sometimes, we cannot understand the error when we run the query.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution since July 2023.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The tool’s stability is okay. The tool runs fast.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Cloud solutions are more scalable than on-premise solutions. In the past, we had some problems because of the memory. Scaling is difficult for on-premise systems.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have used GCP. GCP’s scalability is better because it is a cloud solution. SAP HANA, on the other hand, is an on-premise solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was easy for me.

What about the implementation team?

I did the installation myself by reading a manual.

What other advice do I have?

People must use SAP HANA only if they use other SAP solutions. Overall, I rate the tool a ten out of ten.

A reasonably stable product with a good online portal to help users deal with technical issues
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a scalable solution if you have a good cloud infrastructure."
  • "Customization is an area of concern in SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, where improvements are required."

What is our primary use case?

I used SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud for my studies and in my internship.

What is most valuable?

To be honest, I prefer working with the cloud. I hardly find anything wrong with the tools deployed on the cloud. Maybe SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud is faster, but I find normal cloud services easier to work with as it is much clearer. I prefer to use normal cloud services.

What needs improvement?

Customization is an area of concern in SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, where improvements are required. SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud needs to be made a little bit more user-friendly.

Maybe integrations with some AI tools should be made possible in the future. It would be great if users could use some AI tools in SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud.

From an improvement perspective, the product's prices can be improved.

With the tool, you see that it has some compatibility problems, which I experienced when trying to use it with a database on a Linux OS. The aforementioned area can be considered for improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution if you have a good cloud infrastructure. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Thousands of people use SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud in the company where I work presently.

How are customer service and support?

I never tried to contact SAP's technical team directly because we haven't had the chance to do it in my company. In my company, we face simple problems, which I can easily navigate through SAP's online portal, which has notes about everything, and everything is pretty clear. My organization has another company that seeks help from SAP's technical team.

I rate SAP's technical team an eight out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The solution is deployed on the private cloud services offered by Microsoft Azure.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Considering my company's environment, we have opted for a subscription-based licensing model, making monthly payments for our virtual machine and yearly payments towards the product's licensing costs.

The product is a little bit on the expensive side.

I rate the product's price a five out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I use FinOps from Microsoft Azure for some financial analysis in my company.

A technical team consisting of eight members is required to take care of the maintenance part of the solution.

I know and have a test certificate in SAP Integrated Business Planning Software for Supply Chain.

I recommend the solution to other users since I believe that not only me but also many other companies will soon begin to see a future for the products offered by SAP.

I rate the overall tool an eight out of ten.

A good solution that helps make the processes in smaller and bigger companies transparent
Pros and Cons
  • "My company has not had any problems with the product's initial setup phase."
  • "The stability of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."

What is our primary use case?

My company's customers use SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud to support their enterprise resource planning product.

What is most valuable?

SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud comes under the new offerings from SAP, and it is quite a fast product for the processes and the companies. In general, SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud is a good solution that helps make all the processes in smaller and bigger companies transparent.

What needs improvement?

The price of SAP is an area of concern where improvements are required since it is an area that my company's customers usually discuss. The price of the product depends on what the customer needs from it, especially if you want to talk about customization. In general, the private cloud offers much more than the public cloud, which I believe is a strategy of SAP.

I can't say what can be better in the solution, as everything ultimately depends on the needs of the customer who uses it.

SAP is always trying to make things better to provide users with better integration capabilities. Big companies don't just use products from SAP. Big companies always have third-party systems that may need to be integrated into SAP, especially if there is a need to migrate data in processes. I think the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud development is not yet completed.

Though SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud is a good product, it is hard to get connected with the right person who can help deal with the issues in the product. The stability of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud for five years. I work as a system integrator of the solution. My company has been focusing on products from SAP since 1995. My company has a partnership with SAP.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a six or seven out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

I work in a small company where two or three people use SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud. Right now, my company has undertaken the implementation of the product, which is a big project in which the customer needs the public cloud services offered by SAP.

How are customer service and support?

The support you receive from the technical team of SAP depends on the type of problem and whether it is a high-priority or low-priority issue. If it is a high-priority issue, then SAP helps with its technically skilled support team. If a ticket is raised on a low-priority basis, then it becomes difficult to get help from SAP's technical support team.

My company's technical team has five engineers to take care of the product. It's important to note that with the new developments made by SAP, technical consultants need to know something about the products and the other way around.

How was the initial setup?

My company has not had any problems with the product's initial setup phase.

The time needed to complete the deployment face of the product depends on the structure of the IT department of our company's customers. Sometimes, the product deployment can be done quickly, while at times, the processes of my company's customers may cause the deployment process to take more time. When my company gets involved with the deployment phase of the product for our customers, it takes a few days, after which the deployment process may get extended depending on what should be integrated along with certain other factors, like Microsoft Active Directory Certification. My company has to always look at how we can deal with certain specific needs of a customer.

The solution is deployed on the cloud and on-premises.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend the solution to those who plan to use it. If SAP is well-implemented and the processes in an IT environment are well-prepared and customized to handle the product, then it can be one of the best products in an infrastructure.

I rate the overall product a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

Has robust processing and seamless integration between phases
Pros and Cons
  • "Ensuring data integrity across finance, supply chain, and other critical areas is paramount for real-time decision-making. Access to accurate and up-to-date information is essential for data protection. While the digital solution primarily serves basic maintenance, the ability to handle these core aspects efficiently is invaluable for your needs."
  • "It’s a common challenge with applications like Microsoft and SAP that they tend to rely on engineers rather than human resources personnel for knowledge and implementation."

What is our primary use case?

The goal is to transition to the cloud due to cost considerations. The idea is to centralize operations and infrastructure to streamline development, quality, and production environments, leveraging the cloud in countries where the configurations are similar. The transition to the cloud will significantly reduce hardware maintenance costs. As part of this initiative, we've established a global partnership with Accenture to optimize maintenance costs and cut them in half when we shift to cloud environments. It's important to emphasize that coordination with each country is vital to ensure a smooth transition, as transitioning independently in different environments can lead to complications. In this context, our technology division is collaborating with a third-party provider to implement Microsoft solutions effectively.

What is most valuable?

While working with HANA and other applications, the key focus lies in robust processing and seamless integration between phases. This is crucial for generating comprehensive models, especially when dealing with various data sources and needing data updates. Ensuring data integrity across finance, supply chain, and other critical areas is paramount for real-time decision-making. Access to accurate and up-to-date information is essential for data protection. While the digital solution primarily serves basic maintenance, the ability to handle these core aspects efficiently is invaluable for your needs.

What needs improvement?

It’s a common challenge with applications like Microsoft and SAP that they tend to rely on engineers rather than human resources personnel for knowledge and implementation. This can be a drain on resources and expertise, leading to inefficiencies. It's clear that there is a need to prioritize user-friendliness, making it easier for non-technical users to operate the systems effectively. Training and education for users are crucial to ensure that the tools are accessible to everyone and can be utilized for different processes. By improving user training, SAP can encourage broader user adoption and enhance the tool's overall usability. This, in turn, can lead to increased productivity and more diversified reporting capabilities.

How are customer service and support?

It's crucial to maintain smooth operations, especially in cases where there's urgency, like when specific software or processes are at risk. Tech support plays a pivotal role in ensuring that critical processes in areas like finance or production aren't disrupted. Addressing issues through a ticket system can be a game-changer, allowing for timely intervention and resolution. The key is striking a balance between emergency cases and routine support to reduce the urgency and maintain a high level of daily support throughout the week. Having centralized support from SAP is valuable, especially in situations where there are challenges with data ledgers. When you have the right experts on hand, it can resolve issues without a hitch. However, the absence of such expertise can lead to difficulties. It emphasizes the importance of having access to the right people to tackle specific issues effectively.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

SAP may not be the most cost-effective option, but it does offer a comprehensive set of tools and features. When you have the right information, structure, and dashboard in place, it can provide excellent value. Additionally, competition with Oracle might be a factor to consider.

What other advice do I have?

Overall I would rate it eight out of ten.

The monitoring services are the solution's most valuable features
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a stable and scalable product."
  • "The SAP products are complicated to deploy anywhere."

What is most valuable?

The monitoring services are the solution's most valuable features.

What needs improvement?

The SAP products are complicated to deploy anywhere. I keep getting customer queries for an ECC to HANA or cloud conversion.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using the solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution.

How was the initial setup?

The execution of deployment is more complicated than using the product. Once everything is set and stable, it's a good product. I don't see any problem there. The problem always occurs while doing patch upgrades when some of the functions suddenly stop working.

What about the implementation team?

Our company offers engineering services. We help implement SAP upgrades, HANA or cloud conversions, API integration, BI platform integration, etc.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product itself is relatively expensive. It is an apt solution for large companies with global operations that have over 10,000 employees. In comparison, it is far too expensive for a small company with 50-100 or even lesser employees. It's the most feature-rich, which is also one reason it is the most expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I advise others to ensure they have a technical staff to handle cloud deployment and maintenance if they go for the solution. It is essential to have an internal team that understands how IP works to maintain it well.

I rate the solution as an eight as I think the product could be more efficient. It's a great solution, but there are price tags associated in terms of licensing and renewals.
