Centralizes our enterprise-wide functions but could benefit from cloud migration
We have dealt with customer service, and it was awful. For a system this size, it felt like we were merely buying software from them. They weren't really partnered with us on it. Reporting bugs and getting feedback, as well as having engineers work on issues, was very transactional. There was no real ownership on Oracle's part. During several support cases, it became difficult to determine ownership at Oracle and get status updates. The on-premises Oracle support is not great in my experience, and I think this is true in the industry. We've read about their software as a solution, and theoretically, their SaaS portal support is a lot better.

Implementation simplifies ERP management with comprehensive data integration and visibility
A lot of people would say the pricing. SAP is seen as quite expensive even now. It doesn't work for smaller or medium optimizations. The licensing and pricing could be looked at. In Brownfield migration, the trade-off between greenfield and brownfield means you either keep it clean or match the business requirements. Sometimes, it's not possible to do both. While ValixAPI provides significant support in making those decisions and the SAP consultant is very useful, we are still dependent on past history and how it was originally set up. I wouldn't call that a real disadvantage, yet more accessible consulting would be beneficial. Incorporating all other cloud products, like APO or IPP, into the S/4 house might also help.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The implementation of Oracle E-Business Suite is easy."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The GL and FAH modules have become real-deal players for an organization with many legacy systems that handle transactions and where there is a need to create accounting from these transactions."
"E-Business Suite's best features are BAT functionality, flexibility, configurability, and integration with Oracle Database."
"Everyone in the company is quite used to the Oracle functionality."
"Rapidly implement jobs, positions, grades, and steps within setup of organizational structure."
"Great finance modules and customization."
"E-Business Suite's best features are the standard process, the table dictionary, and the ability to work with the SQL language to correlate data."
"It provides a cohesive user interface, even when building applications outside SAP with the OpenUI framework, offering a seamless customer experience."
"I strongly recommend SAP S/4HANA for any industry with companies having more than one hundred employees."
"The overall product rating is nine out of ten."
"C4C is a good application of SAP S/4HANA, and it helps many companies."
"It is a very scalable solution. We have enterprise-level businesses using this solution."
"The most valuable feature is the inbuilt standards included in SAP that customers can adopt easily. Also offers to customize it based on the specific requirements."
"It's helped with business aspects and improved material planning and RMA processes."
"You don't have to worry too much about volumes of data, even if your transaction volumes go up."

Cons

"The main challenge has been the annual maintenance cost."
"The UI interface is not great."
"Oracle has improved a lot because Oracle E-Business Suite is quite outdated. Oracle built the Oracle Fusion platform and it has many improved processes. We registered a few enhancements requests, but it's a very long bureaucratic process with Oracle. It doesn't make any sense to communicate with Oracle about what changes should be made to the system."
"Oracle E-Business Suite uses an old technology (Forms), which is Java-based."
"Oracle E-Business Suite is hard and takes six months to one year to implement."
"The document that supports the Oracle E-Business Suite regarding the installation and upgrading is long compared to other products and needs to be enhanced."
"They should include database functionality."
"If you get away from the financials core of the product, it is not so good at handling peripherals."
"The process for the auto administration of the system needs improvement."
"It should have more support. Documentation and support for mobile apps can be improved."
"It's an expensive solution"
"S/4HANA could be improved with better integration. At the moment, a main issue I see is that there's so much growth in the functionality, complementary modules, and cloud solutions which were acquired by SAP and which extend the functionality of the SAP ERP suite. It looks to me that they tend to acquire more and more functionality from acquisitions, but they don't invest enough effort into making them integrated with S/4HANA or ERP. I would say that the functionality is great, but integration is something which still needs more attention. Instead of focusing on acquisitions, they should invest, integrate, and better the existing portfolio of products in SAP. It would help us, as implementors, to have a more complex or compact solution."
"An area for improvement would be integration with different kinds of legacies. In the next release, I would like the product to be prepared for blockchain technology and the best way to communicate with social networking."
"SAP S/4HANA could improve by making the interface easier to use."
"I would like to see improvements in the graphical user interface and core modules in SAP S/4HANA. Even after 20 years, there haven't been developments in these areas. The purchase order, sales order, and core modules like CRM have remained unchanged. The financial data and modules have also stayed the same. Fiori is available but hasn't brought many changes to the core modules."
"The disadvantages of this product include the lack of integration with platforms like LinkedIn."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This product is more expensive if you compare it to SAP."
"Considering the market at the moment, Oracle needs to adjust the pricing of this solution."
"Fees for support and licensing should be reduced."
"The license is very expensive and I think that it needs to be cheaper to get a wider range of users or customers."
"Oracle generally gives a lot of discounts."
"I would rate the pricing a nine out of ten, with ten being very expensive."
"Oracle scales the pricing, but E-Business Suite is still very expensive for small to mid-sized businesses."
"Whatever the products you use, you'll be paying a yearly maintenance price or a support price."
"The price of the solution is on the higher side compared to others."
"The price of SAP S4HANA is reasonable."
"The licensing format is complicated for SAP S/4HANA"
"Available at a high price"
"The pricing model is based on an annual license."
"It is an expensive solution. On a scale from one to five, with five being the most expensive, I would rate the price at four."
"There is an annual license for SAP S4HANA."
"It's quite an expensive solution"
