Easy to implement with limited customization. Integration adds complexity.

I'm currently in the process of implementing EPM Live upgrade to release 5.6. Compared to MS Project Server I'd give EMP LIVE a 5 out of 5. For this implementation the focus is on features such as Resource Management, MS Project Schedule integration, time sheets, integration with external systems and reporting.

The main objective of upgrading from Work Engine coupled with Project Server to straight EPM Live 5.6 is to simplify resource management, schedule and time sheet processing. Automating integration with Oracle increases resource management and billing accuracy. EPM Live 5.6 (Work Engine) offers easy to use Portfolio, Program, Project and Resource management features in addition to enhancing communication, collaboration and document management not withstanding time sheet management and processing.

It's easy to implement and manage. I'd like to see integration with PowerPivot and Power View.

What is most valuable?



  • Business Intelligence reports
  • Interactive and dynamic graphs/charts


What needs improvement?



I haven’t worked with it in over a year now. But, if it has not been done yet, maybe an integration with PowerPivot and Power View reporting mechanism through the use of Excel services.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?



The tool is a very easy to install and configure.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?



None that I can think of.

None that I can think of.

How are customer service and technical support?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?



I've also used Project Server because when I moved to a new company they were not using EPMLive Workengine but I would have liked to have continue working with it.

How was the initial setup?



Straightforward. EPMLive Workengine is pre-configured, a few clicks get you a running solution in no time.

What about the implementation team?



We implemented both in-house and through a vendor team.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?



When submitting proposals for projects (tenders), other competitors would include Project Server, Documentum, etc., because of Workengine’s scalability and it's easily integratable with other LOB applications

What other advice do I have?



Great tool to use, easy to implement, easy to manage and easy to tailor to customer or business needs.
