What is our primary use case?
The flexibility of data type and source integration for my IT ecosystem is excellent because Ab Initio Co>Operating System uses metadata, so it doesn't actually access the data; it takes the data table names and column names. Regardless of the type of data, it performs well and is quite flexible in that regard.
Ab Initio Co>Operating System has nice qualities and performs well based on my experience. Ab Initio Co>Operating System excels at providing data lineage regardless of the type of data I have. Whether it's a small company or a large company, and even for areas that require data lineage, it's difficult to find the right tool these days.
What is most valuable?
I use the Metadata Hub from Ab Initio Co>Operating System, and it has been utilized for data lineage.
Ab Initio Co>Operating System performs well because I can enter large SAS codes, and it thoroughly processes them and creates the lineage. It does require some editing on my end, but Ab Initio Co>Operating System itself does an excellent job in processing large SAS codes.
Although I'm not deeply involved in the data governance topic in my area, I focus on the lineages and ensuring they work. Ab Initio Co>Operating System performs well and has nice qualities.
The support system is valuable because when we encounter queries, we can contact Ab Initio Co>Operating System's support team, and they consistently respond with solutions or updates to their packages. I consider that an excellent feature for providing support when we run into difficulties.
What needs improvement?
While Ab Initio Co>Operating System has positive attributes, I find that certain features can sometimes be difficult to understand. When I have too many import feeds opened, they can conflict with each other. If I'm using two separate import feeds for running my codes and they contain the same code inside, they experience conflicts, which creates difficulties. I believe this should not occur because it requires me to clear the work queue to run my import feed.
I don't believe there are any missing features in Ab Initio Co>Operating System so far, but I would appreciate a better search feature. The global search is excellent, but a more in-depth search feature that allows me to search within the feeds or assets would be beneficial.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with Ab Initio Co>Operating System for approximately three months, so this is very recent.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Throughout my experience with Ab Initio Co>Operating System, there have been no crashes, downtimes, or performance issues. The performance is excellent, and the feeds run quite fast.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
In terms of scalability, I find it easy to scale up and scale out with Ab Initio Co>Operating System. I have tested it with different types of files, and it has performed adequately.
How are customer service and support?
I appreciate the support system because when we encounter queries, we can contact Ab Initio Co>Operating System's support team, and they consistently respond with solutions or updates to their packages. I consider that an excellent feature for providing support when we experience difficulties.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
There were some challenges in the initial setup process because I had to understand the product itself, which is a comprehensive universe encompassing the entire metadata portal. There are many elements to navigate, but with the help of documentation and exploration, I found it quite helpful. Initially, I spent time understanding how the tool works, how to update or import items, and even small aspects were somewhat difficult to understand. Once I became familiar with it, I began to understand it better.
What other advice do I have?
I have not been involved in the security access of the platform's data security features, but I know that Ab Initio Co>Operating System is very careful because it doesn't access any customer data; it only examines the metadata. I find it favorable that you're not providing it directly with the data, but it still provides you with the lineage of all transformations.
Although I have not been working with Ab Initio Co>Operating System for an extended period, there have been occasions where they update their packages to make it more suitable for the type of codes I use. I believe they are continuously working on improving it based on feedback and queries they receive.
For organizations considering Ab Initio Co>Operating System, they truly need to first understand the tool itself because it is complex. However, once one becomes proficient with it, particularly for data lineage, it could be an excellent tool for banking or financial institutions. I gave this review a rating of 8 out of 10.
