Easy configuration, with affordable pricing, and reliable

What is our primary use case?



We use Actian PSQL for analytics purposes.


What is most valuable?



Actian PSQL is easy to configure and the performance is affordable.


What needs improvement?



It would be great to have some sizing guides to configure the on-premise software to make it easier. We need to improve the security options for the on-premise option. I would like to see more examples for analytical purposes.


For how long have I used the solution?



I have been using Actian PSQL for the past three months.


What do I think about the stability of the solution?



Actian PSQL is stable from our perspective.


How are customer service and support?



Actian PSQL has average technical support.


Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?



I have used many solutions previously. My goal is to organize. I have used the old versions of SQL. Oracle is a heavy tool that I have worked with.


How was the initial setup?



The setup can be complex without the proper training. It took me a half a day to deploy but in other cases it would be several days.


What about the implementation team?



The deployment was in-house and deployed by one person.


What other advice do I have?



I would rate Actian PSQL an eight out of ten.

Great advanced structures like arrays, native json, etc. but would like to see default drivers in JVMworld

What is most valuable?



Advanced structures like arrays, native json, etc.

How has it helped my organization?



We are using native json data type for statistics storage. Another way was to use something like MongoDB, but it would be too difficult to administer as we have too many other external products and services.

What needs improvement?



Default drivers in JVMworld

About 3 years

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?



No, it's really simple

What do I think about the stability of the solution?



Only in dev environment with very small VMs (like 512mb RAM for PG and Neo4j)

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?



Not yet, we have not scaled.

How are customer service and technical support?



Customer Service: There was no problem to ask customer service, so it's greatTechnical Support: I also don't know

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?



MySQL is too poor in functionality, Oracle is too big slow and the price is not quite good. We are using Azure SQL but we' d prefer MySQL instead - it is good for .Net but not for JVM.

How was the initial setup?



It's documented quite well, so there was no problems.

Both in-house and vendor.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?



$0 initialy and another $0 running it

MySQL only, as we already had experience with Oracle and MSSQL.
