An economical and easy-to-use solution that has a good upload and download speed
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is easy to use."
  • "The user experience must be improved."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is used for cloud storage.

What is most valuable?

The product is fairly economical. The upload and download speed is good. It is consistent. The solution is easy to use. We can use S3 Browser to upload and download data efficiently.

What needs improvement?

The user experience must be improved. The product must have a feature similar to Azure Storage Explorer. The product must not rely on third-party providers.

I have been using the solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool is more focused on a one-to-one connection. It's not server-focused. It is for front-end users to make it easy for people to store and access S3. Around 20 people in our organization use the product. We use the tool on a daily basis.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We also use Azure Blob Storage.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy. We just have to install a small application on our desktop. We do not need the help of a technical team.

What was our ROI?

It's easy to share data between people. It's geared towards large datasets. SharePoint is for smaller files. However, Amazon S3 Glacier is for uploading and downloading a lot of data.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is very cheap.

What other advice do I have?

We get two versions of the solutions. The amount of data we can upload on the free version is limited. The Pro version has more bandwidth. I recommend using the Pro version for more flexibility and speed. Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

A scalable and flexible solution that is easy to set up and easy to use
Pros and Cons
  • "The biggest advantage of the product is that AWS always copies the tool internally."
  • "The tool could be made cheaper."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is used to store data.

What is most valuable?

The biggest advantage of the product is that AWS always copies the tool internally. So, we have two or three copies of our data. We’re pretty sure that once it's uploaded, it's available. We can move it to less expensive storage if we don't use it. The way of working is very intelligent. It's very useful.

It's up to us to decide how many copies we need and how frequently we want to make copies. Whether we want a fast or slow disk, cheap or expensive, it’s up to us as architects. We have a lot of choices. It's a product that has been working for a very long time. Most remarks from customers have been dealt with. Everything a customer could want is available.

What needs improvement?

The tool could be made cheaper. We always need the internet to access the tool. If our network goes down, we cannot access the information.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for five to six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We do not have any issues with the product’s stability. I rate the stability a nine out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool’s scalability is very good. We have no problems with it. We have 4000 to 5000 users. The solution is used regularly. We have plans to increase the usage in the future.

How was the initial setup?

The product is cloud-based. The setup is very easy. The deployment took ten minutes. It’s very fast. To deploy the product, we must select the type of disk we need, create the interface to our account, and then start using it. It is very straightforward and very easy. The solution is so easy that we do not need any technical people.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution costs around 9 cents per data forum per month. The tool is very cheap.

What other advice do I have?

It's a good product. We must remember that it's already been copied two or three times by AWS. We don't need to set up a copy ourselves. It is a big advantage. We can try to separate our data between different regions. So, if one region goes down, we still have our data in another. It’s a good practice.

We can't improve the product without increasing the cost. People can use two or three S3s to make it more secure. However, forcing all users into the same setup is not in AWS's best interest. There’s an advantage in going to the cloud. If an organization needs big security and has well-trained people, they can implement it. However, a very small company that doesn’t need that security won't pay for it.

Overall, I rate the product a ten out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I am using the latest version of Amazon S3 Glacier. Amazon S3 Glacier is a cloud-based solution. Around eight people are needed for the solution’s deployment and maintenance.

I would recommend Amazon S3 Glacier to other users. Before using the solution, users should know its cost because it is too expensive based on the storage size.

An affordable and easy-to-setup product that works as expected
Pros and Cons
  • "We save money with the product."
  • "A couple of times, we faced outage issues that caused us problems."

What is our primary use case?

We use the product heavily. All our data is stored in it. We are using Delta Lake, which is built on the product. We have started using the solution for an app project. Some files and storage should not be in the hot area. It should go into Glacier. We are looking into some recycling policies.

What is most valuable?

We save money with the product. If some file is not frequently accessed, Glacier helps put things there. It is a fantastic product that works as expected.

What needs improvement?

We had some issues with the product’s stability. A couple of times, we faced outage issues that caused us problems. It happened one or two times.

For how long have I used the solution?

I am using the solution right now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The outage issue caused us a little bit of a headache, but it recovered soon, so that's fine.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have a minimum use for the product, but I have confidence about the scalability of Amazon products. Our organization's infrastructure, DevOps, and database teams use the product.

How are customer service and support?

I have not sought support. I have heard the team talking about support. We are on the enterprise level, so support is good. Up until now, we have been happy.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

The engineers, developers, and infrastructure team ensure the platform is good. We are a big company.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is cost-effective.

What other advice do I have?

I like Amazon very much. We are a billion-dollar company, and we use Amazon heavily. We will use the cycle policies to ensure all the files that are not accessed frequently are put somewhere. We are planning a big change in our organization to reboot our data.

We will have more data segmentation by using different buckets. When this transition is finished, we will work more toward the different layers of storage. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.
