Automation has transformed firewall changes and has reduced audit effort and breach risk
The best features AlgoSec offers include automation of firewall rule changes, centralized security policy management, and improved compliance and audit readiness. AlgoSec has positively impacted my organization by allowing us to see faster change management, reduced audit costs, and reduced breach risk. I can share specific metrics indicating that through OpEx savings, we have been able to reduce firewall rule analysis and rule change handling time by 60 to 90 percent. This has led to fewer manual tasks and a smaller workload on our network and security teams. We have seen a return on investment with reduced audit costs, less time spent preparing evidence manually, and reduced breach risk. I would like to add that on centralized security policy management, it reduces complexity in multi-vendor environments.

Good support, nice interface, and simple to upgrade
PDF format is not available for Alert Composer. There are file attachment or body content output options. The other issue is that the range object can be displayed in the rule viewer section. If we know the range object, we provide imaging, but if we do not know the range object, there is no imaging. It also allows adding range object rules when performing server cloning. In general, however, we have made successful progress since the POC process.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It enhanced the complete workflow system within six months of deployment."
"ActiveChange integrates with your change workflow and ticketing system. For example, a change request is made to open port 8080. Then, if the guy who was supposed to implement that change mistakenly opened port 80, then ActiveChange will say, "What was approved was 8080, but what you actually opened was 80." That actually helps to fix human errors. It helps to check everything that is being done. You can go through the analysis and see changes that were made, and AlgoSec is able to alert you immediately. Whenever there is a change, notifications are sent to the administrators because it gives you that real-time alerting and change."
"It's a good product, it's stable and gives us accurate results, and using AlgoSec Firewall Analyzer to audit and review configurations for our many security devices has saved more than 70% of our time and significantly reduced human errors and misconfigurations."
"Implementing AlgoSec has saved a lot of time in management, and consequently reduced costs."
"AlgoSec has helped tighten the rules on my firewalls, reduce the risks or exposure, and also meet regulatory compliance."
"One of the quick wins is to view our device status easily, with out-of-the-box dashboards and charts."
"With the AlgoSec firewall analyzer, it now takes us half the time to deploy firewall changes and policy optimization."
"We are able to quickly review 100's of firewalls and stay compliant, and the product has been invaluable to our information security department"
"The platform is easy to deploy and maintain."
"Version upgrades can be done quickly."

Cons

"AlgoSec can be improved by evaluating workflow processes over an extended period."
"Automated policy push for the Fortinet product family. The Active Change/Automated Policy push feature is already there for all other leading devices such as Cisco, Check Point, Juniper, and Palo Alto, etc."
"The only problem I have with AlgoSec is just its level of support, not with the product. Not with the organization or the documentation or anything else, but if I need any additional support, the only problem is the time it takes to get it."
"AlgoSec's audit management is not good enough and can be improved."
"The MAP has a persistent issue with a firewall that is using a double BVI (Bridge virtual interface)."
"The FireFlow template does not allow the user to perform external actions like sending an email or triggering a specific action."
"The process to replace a decommissioned device with a new device is not straightforward."
"Right now, pushing policies is restricted to some OEMs; we can delete unwanted policies for many OEMs, but while pushing new policies, I've noticed challenges with Fortinet and Sophos or SonicWall."
"The product's web page view is very basic. They could add new features to it."
"PDF format is not available for Alert Composer."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing for this solution seems to be reasonable for the functionality."
"The price is adapted to the product's utilization for each company."
"The pricing for this solution is not cheap, but we get good value for what we pay."
"Price is not my concern. If a tool does its job, it is not my concern to obtain a good price for it. If a tool is needed, we are going to buy it."
"The pricing could be better."
"Licensing is offered as a subscription and as a perpetual model."
"Pricing is great if you have a small number of large firewalls, otherwise, it does not bring ROI."
"When it comes to the cost of support and licensing, it is much cheaper than other competing products."
"Opinnate is inexpensive than other products."
