Automation has transformed firewall changes and has reduced audit effort and breach risk

The best features AlgoSec offers include automation of firewall rule changes, centralized security policy management, and improved compliance and audit readiness. AlgoSec has positively impacted my organization by allowing us to see faster change management, reduced audit costs, and reduced breach risk. I can share specific metrics indicating that through OpEx savings, we have been able to reduce firewall rule analysis and rule change handling time by 60 to 90 percent. This has led to fewer manual tasks and a smaller workload on our network and security teams. We have seen a return on investment with reduced audit costs, less time spent preparing evidence manually, and reduced breach risk. I would like to add that on centralized security policy management, it reduces complexity in multi-vendor environments.

Good support, nice interface, and simple to upgrade

PDF format is not available for Alert Composer. There are file attachment or body content output options. The other issue is that the range object can be displayed in the rule viewer section. If we know the range object, we provide imaging, but if we do not know the range object, there is no imaging. It also allows adding range object rules when performing server cloning. In general, however, we have made successful progress since the POC process.

"It gives you the capability to make changes to hundreds of your firewalls at the same time, but big enterprises have change management policies. Change managers will never allow you to make changes to more than 10 devices at the same time, which is a feature in AlgoSec. Because, what if something goes wrong, then you have to roll back and figure out what caused the impact, e.g., which firewall did not work well. Doing that post-mortem becomes a difficult thing. So, change automation on a firewall is actually defeating the purpose of the change management policies in any organization. If you run a bank, you will not allow anyone to make changes at the same time from a single click for 10 firewalls. The bank will never allow this."

"We are working with our finance department right now to be able to purchase it. The AlgoSec team is doing everything that they can in their power to get the costs down to where our budget is. They have worked a lot on it. They have cut the cost in half for us so far by questioning, "This is in the quote. Is this something that is actually needed?" They have pulled some stuff out and cut our costs down by 50% for the product itself."

"I would suggest that you start with a VM, get a PoC with a temp license, and try it out. You will love it."

"The licensing scheme should be done in a simpler way. For example, if we delete a firewall and want to add a new one, then the license doesn't get freed up automatically. You have to request a new license to customer support and install it. If you are testing new implementations, this can be cumbersome."
