Empowers organizations to reduce change management time by 80% and improve audit efficiency
AlgoSec offers essential features such as risk management, policy optimization, change management, traffic simulation, and compliance auditing. Risk management is crucial for security, enabling deep analysis and threat prioritization, while traffic simulation allows interactive diagnostics for operational traffic management. Change management includes tools for monitoring policy changes and ensuring compliance with security standards, making these features significant for any organization. AlgoSec positively impacts my organization by reducing operation burden, enhancing time efficiency, and saving costs associated with security management. AlgoSec firewall analyzer helps with policy complexity by identifying unused or redundant rules and objects, recommending optimizations such as merging similar rules and removing unnecessary allows. Over time, firewalls can accumulate risky configurations, leading to increased overhead and troubleshooting time, but with AlgoSec, we simplify our rule sets, improve firewall performance, and facilitate faster change implementations.

Centralized monitoring enhances control while seeking greater flexibility and rapid response
I am still working for Lotus. We work with Palo Alto three series, Panorama, and Firewall Banu, specifically Firewall three series and five series I find this solution valuable for full monitoring, centralized control for reporting, and centralized management. These features are instrumental in…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"AlgoSec has reduced the need for additional manpower and we can now use the time to tackle other security-related issues."
"Implementing firewall rules within our organization has been significantly expedited thanks to AlgoSec."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to deploy new rules in all of the firewalls included in the environment at one time."
"Thanks to Algosec, especially with the FireFlow and AppViz modules, I have managed the regulation compliance I need to adhere to through baseline compliance and checked my compliance with it."
"AlgoSec gives organizations the visibility and intelligence needed to make application connectivity changes confidently while managing risk and compliance."
"ABF is a wonderful module where you can keep the footprint for your firewall rules up-to-date, like CMDB."
"Traffic queries are a great help when troubleshooting a problem, especially if the traffic is going through two or more firewalls."
"I rate the scalability at nine out of ten, demonstrating a robust ability to expand and cater to large enterprises."
"Centralized management is a valuable feature."
"You don't need an overly experienced workforce to handle Palo Alto. It's very easy to use."
"Palo Alto technical support is excellent."
"Palo Alto Networks Panorama is stable."
"A valuable feature of Palo Alto Networks Panorama is reporting because it gives you different reports on data, logs, and threats. I also like the centralized firewall management feature of the product."
"Panorama provides management functionalities."
"The ability to manage a large number of firewalls from a single point is most valuable."
"All of the reports and events from different locations can be managed centrally."

Cons

"In terms of additional features in the next release, more integration with SD-WAN would be valuable."
"It would be great if the product could be more simplified when defining the rules."
"I would like to see Bi-Directional API support in order to integrate with SOAR platforms that provide SOC automation and IRR."
"We have a complaint about the compliance check, in that sometimes we want to keep rules rather than merge them."
"AlgoSec license usage is handled differently between firewall vendors. It may be a bit challenging to properly size the purchase of a new license - especially if a client is running multiple vendor firewalls in the environment."
"The initial setup can be complex for beginners."
"My only concern is related to how they count the number of licenses. We have active and standby devices. If someone adds the standby device by mistake and does an analysis, it consumes two licenses. They need to improve the way they are counting the number of licenses because someone can do analysis on a standby device by mistake. We need a way to fix or solve this issue."
"Needs better technical support and quicker response times."
"Lacking in speed and reliability."
"It is very hard to understand the platform. It is not easy and user-friendly. You need a lot of experience to use Panorama. It is very complex, and you must know exactly what to do. I would like to have a more user-friendly product. FortiManager is comparatively very easy to use. It would be good if Panorama improves in terms of user-friendliness. It is also harder to use than Palo Alto Firewalls."
"The pricing of the solution could be considered an area of improvement, as it is a comprehensive and feature-rich product that may include features that are not needed by some companies."
"I would like to see remote VPN, like the Cisco client."
"Aside from pricing, I don't have any issues with Panorama."
"A bottleneck in Palo Alto Networks Panorama is the licensing. The licensing model for the product is complicated. Another area for improvement is the PDF report generation because you'll notice that it's missing some details."
"There is always room for improvement in anything."
"The product does need a bit of configuration. It's not quite ready to go out of the box."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing for this solution seems to be reasonable for the functionality."
"The price is within the standard of security products."
"When I have active and standby firewalls, if I do an analysis of the active firewall and by mistake, I also do an analysis of the secondary or standby firewall, it'll consume two licenses from the total number of licenses I have. So, I need to change the license and make the active firewall secondary. They need to improve how they are counting the number of licenses."
"I compared the prices of AlgoSec with Tufin and FireMon. I don't recall the exact cost, but it was within budget and not very expensive. In addition to standard licensing fees, we didn't have any significant additional costs. We did hire new people for the change management process, but that's not a technology issue."
"I would suggest that you start with a VM, get a PoC with a temp license, and try it out. You will love it."
"The licensing is very easy to set up, with flexible licensing methods such as subscription and perpetual."
"The pricing is good. Though, I would like if pricing could better support small businesses."
"It has improved our performance in operations, projects, and security."
"Licensing fees are paid yearly."
"You only pay for the license and there are no additional costs."
"Palo Alto Networks Panorama has so many licenses. For example, it has threat protection and group protection licenses. One license depends on another. I find it more expensive than Cisco."
"The solution is priced a bit higher than competitors."
"Pricing is high compared to other vendors in the same space. Licensing is also fairly high for different functions to be added on."
"It is not a cheap solution."
"Its licensing is yearly and multi-yearly. It is not expensive."
"Palo Alto Networks Panorama is a more expensive solution than competitors. They should lower the price to stay competitive."

Hi Dear Anouar, I want to explain something to avoid misunderstanding. Palo Alto Networks (PAN) Panorama is the management dashboard for Palo Alto Firewalls; which is provided by PAN and comes with a license. However AlgoSec is used as a Firewall Analyzer tool to analyze firewall rules according to their severities, configuration mistakes, shadowing or redundant rules, etc. If you want a solution to analyze your firewalls and harden them; you can consider preferring a firewall analyzer solution. If you want to manage your firewall configurations, create rules, routes, etc., you can prefer to have PAN panorama; instead of managing the firewalls by connecting each of them separately.
