Automation has transformed firewall changes and has reduced audit effort and breach risk
The best features AlgoSec offers include automation of firewall rule changes, centralized security policy management, and improved compliance and audit readiness. AlgoSec has positively impacted my organization by allowing us to see faster change management, reduced audit costs, and reduced breach risk. I can share specific metrics indicating that through OpEx savings, we have been able to reduce firewall rule analysis and rule change handling time by 60 to 90 percent. This has led to fewer manual tasks and a smaller workload on our network and security teams. We have seen a return on investment with reduced audit costs, less time spent preparing evidence manually, and reduced breach risk. I would like to add that on centralized security policy management, it reduces complexity in multi-vendor environments.

Pros

"After implementing AlgoSec, we have reduced firewall rule review time by around 40 to 50%, and cleanup activities have helped eliminate a significant number of unused rules, improving our security posture."
"We have seen a great return on investment with this solution because our process has been simplified and is smoother than the previous one, and we are getting good visibility with a compliance-ready environment."
"By leveraging BusinessFlow/FireFlow/ActiveChange we have been able to reduce the time from initial requirements gathering to implementation of complex firewall designs by approximately 80% without compromising our security posture."
"We have reduced the attack surface of risky rules, improved our compliance scores, and streamlined our firewall change flow all thanks to AlgoSec Firewall Analyzer."
"AlgoSec is a tool that really supports our work in compliance and our customers' requirements, fulfilling their FDA requirements."
"AlgoSec assists with identifying traffic flow and related issues within a short span of time."
"Firewall Optimization is all time favorite which saves a lot of manual work and increases device performance."
"The features that are most valuable are the interactive topology map and the traffic simulation queries."
"RedSeal integrates the network and gives us a visual or graphical overview of our network. If an organization is geographically dispersed, for instance, with one office in Canada and one office in the Philippines, the whole network, including all devices, is integrated into RedSeal, and you can see from where the traffic is going in and out."
"RedSeal has different modules, such as the Analyzer module, which can be leveraged."
"RedSeal helps you prioritize and allocate your scarce human and capital resources where they have the biggest impact to protect your most-valuable digital assets."
"The Vulnerability and Risk Management feature is valuable to us for keeping the security posture up-to-date and conducting regular continuous audits."
"The most valuable features are network mapping and configuration."
"RedSeal integrates the network and gives us a visual or graphical overview of our network; if an organization is geographically dispersed, for instance, with one office in Canada and one office in the Philippines, the whole network, including all devices, is integrated into RedSeal, and you can see from where the traffic is going in and out."
"The most valuable feature I enjoy that is provided by this security analytics platform is the ability to measure resilience."
"The most valuable feature of the product to me is being able to ask what-if questions about traffic flows, which is a great ability to have for security and incident response."

Cons

"I would like the reporting to be more customizable, as per user and auditing needs."
"We have a complaint about the compliance check, in that sometimes we want to keep rules rather than merge them."
"We are using AlgoSec directly against our Cisco Firepower. At first, AlgoSec didn't work with Firepower. It didn't know how to read the logs. So, improvement has been made. Now, the feature that was available on the older generation firewall is available on the current one, but this is a problem which has already been dealt with."
"In our experience, AlgoSec need to improve the integration of firewall vendors, because at the moment they don't support all vendors that are out there."
"AlgoSec-type products and requirements are not necessary or prevalent these days."
"AlgoSec is slow when it is loaded with too many firewalls and policies."
"More scope for editing alerts would be a welcome change."
"It would be nice if it was more variable when checking virtual domain baseline in the same way as Fortigate's firewalls do."
"Although we are talking about a very robust platform, I would like to see the Windows compatible VM version come back."
"The dashboard should be improved to make correlating data easier to do."
"Initially their level one support was very frustrating to work with."
"The dashboard should be improved to make correlating data easier to do."
"There is room for improvement regarding customization and automation of reports."
"Integration with other security tools. Have the ability to create custom reports: Currently, within RedSeal you only have the option to run the canned reports."
"One of the areas of concern is the GUI. It is important to our customers that the GUI looks beautiful. It's a Java Client, so you have a Java dependency."
"The network mapping/visualization could be improved significantly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing is great if you have a small number of large firewalls, otherwise, it does not bring ROI."
"It seems we have recovered our money on this appliance, so it is money well spent."
"The price is adapted to the product's utilization for each company."
"Quality has a price."
"The pricing is flexible with a low cost setup."
"I propose to purchase licenses for all of the networking devices in the network, because if not all of the devices are integrated then the query of particular access cannot be discovered entirely."
"Licensing is very easy to set up. The pricing is relative to how you want to expand and harden your network security."
"It is fair."
"The pricing is based on the number of endpoints and devices, and we have seen it range from mid-five figures to low six figures."
