Isolate environments and switch package versions efficiently for smoother testing workflows
Overall, it works well, but there are a few things that could be better. Sometimes the environment creation or package installation feels a bit slow, especially with bigger libraries. Another thing I would appreciate is a cleaner, more intuitive interface for managing environments. It works, but a smoother UI could make the workflow faster. It would also be nice to have clearer error messages when something fails, so it is easier to understand what went wrong without digging too much. The documentation could be a bit clearer, especially for troubleshooting specific errors or setup issues. Sometimes I need to search extensively to find the exact steps. Also, having quicker or more detailed support responses would help when something unexpected comes up. These are not major problems, but improving them would definitely make the overall experience smoother. One small improvement I would add is smoother integration with IDEs. It works fine right now, but having even tighter or more automated syncing with tools such as VS Code or PyCharm would make the workflow faster. Perhaps also a few more built-in examples or quick-start guides for common setups would be helpful. Nothing major, just things that would make the experience even more user-friendly.

Support and flexibility enable effective project initiation and meet customer needs but deployment requires enhancement
The customer comes to you and says they want to deploy it and make a production out of this, which is very difficult and expensive with IBM SPSS Modeler. With MATLAB, there is no problem. I have a solution, and then I convert my MATLAB solution to C programming language. This I can deploy, and I can check it, and it is MISRA compatible. It is very easy to deploy it, to go from MATLAB to C or C++, which is actually needed in the car industry. In the car industry, they want to have it in the hardware. You cannot put MATLAB or IBM SPSS Modeler in the hardware of a car, but with C, there is no problem with a microcontroller. They can shoot it into the microcontroller, and I can check it with Polyspace, and it is MISRA compatible, which is an industrial standard. There is nothing similar in IBM SPSS Modeler. I made solutions with IBM SPSS Modeler, and then the customer said they wanted to make a production out of it, and it was not possible. I stopped with IBM SPSS Modeler 18. It is now 18.6 from what I know at the moment. I do not believe that there is a possibility to design a graphic user interface with it. It is itself a graphic user interface, where you put all sorts of little icons into the display.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It provides a unified platform where you can install Jupyter, Python Spider, and other related tools without needing separate installations."
"The most advantageous feature is the logic building."
"Anaconda Business has positively impacted my organization by easing the burden of querying large datasets that would otherwise slow down our work when using Excel, and since switching to Anaconda Business, I have improved productivity by around 80%, saving time in data crunching and exploration."
"The best part of the solution is the virtualization, where you can use Python within the virtual environment and do lots of useful things, and the documentation is excellent with a very large and active community that supports it."
"We find the advanced security, governance, and collaborative features for organizations using Python and R particularly useful, as these business plans provided by Anaconda Business have been very helpful."
"The biggest positive impact has been the consistency it brings, since everyone can use clean, isolated environments, we run into far fewer package conflicts or situations where something works on one system but not another."
"The Python libraries are all readily available and there is no need to install anything separately."
"Anaconda Business has impacted my organization positively by centering all that we need in a unique tool."
"I think it is the point and drag features that are the most valuable. You can simply click at the windows, and then pull up the functions."
"We are using it either for workforce deployment or to improve our operations."
"The main benefit is it makes things a little easier to do."
"It continues to be a very flexible platform, so that it handles R and Python and other types of technology. It seems to be growing with additional open-source movement out there on different platforms."
"At the end of the day, you will be highly impressed with SPSS capabilities and the capability to get models into production."
"I still use it because when I got the latest version it had all those things that I wish I would've had when I was working at the office."
"IBM was chosen because of usability. It's point and click, whereas the other out-of-the box-solution, or open-source solutions, require full-on programming and a much higher skill level."
"It's a very organized product. It's easy to use."

Cons

"The ability to schedule scripts for the building and monitoring of jobs would be an advantage for this platform."
"The interface could be improved. Other solutions, like Visual Studio, have much better UI."
"Anaconda Business is stable to an extent, but it sometimes crashes on systems with insufficient RAM, leading me to switch to Google Cloud for Jupyter Notebook usage at times."
"Sometimes the environment creation or package installation feels a bit slow, especially with bigger libraries."
"Currently, it's working perfectly on Microsoft Windows but lags in open source OS like Ubuntu, Mint. File uploading feature needs to be improved."
"Anaconda consumes a significant amount of processing memory when working on it."
"The pricing should be a little lower for a single person to use, as it might be affordable for an organization, but for my single use, it is difficult."
"I think that the framework can be improved to make it easier for people to discover and use things on their own."
"Unstructured data is not appropriate for SPSS Modeler."
"The scalability was kind of limited by our ability to get other people licenses, and that was usually more of a financial constraint."
"We would like to see better visualizations and easier integration with Cognos Analytics for reporting."
"Requires more development."
"The time series is a very important issue, however, it is not given its value in the package as it should be."
"The product does not have a search function for tags."
"There are issues, we try to mitigate them. There are always issues."
"I made solutions with IBM SPSS Modeler, and then the customer said they wanted to make a production out of it, and it was not possible."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs for Anaconda are reasonable."
"The product is open-source and free to use."
"Anaconda is free to use, but in terms of hardware costs, you might need heavy GPUs to run CUDA and other demanding tasks."
"The tool is open-source."
"I am using the free version of IBM SPSS Modeler, it is the educational edition version."
"When you are close to end of quarter, IBM and its partners can get you 60% to 70% discounts, so literally wait for the last day of the quarter for the best prices. You may feel like you are getting robbed if you can't receive a good discount."
"This tool, being an IBM product, is pretty expensive."
"The scalability was kind of limited by our ability to get other people licenses, and that was usually more of a financial constraint. It's expensive, but it's a good tool."
"It is an expensive product."
"It got us a good amount of money with quick and efficient modeling."
"Its price is okay for a company, but for personal use, it is considered somewhat expensive."
"If you are in a university and the license is free then you can use the tool without any charges, which is good."
