Real-time data integration enhances operational efficiency and flexibility
As a client developer and solutions architect, I use Anaplan for building modules and deploying logic end-to-end. I work closely with the business in an agile manner to ensure the model aligns with business needs Anaplan offers flexibility in building different options within the platform. The…

Budgeting scenarios and versions helps us migrate data, visualize data, and do variant reporting
The best thing about the tool is the budgeting scenarios and versions. It helps us migrate data, visualize data, and do variant reporting. There are approval processes that allow users to submit data, whether for budgeting or forecasting. When they submit, it goes up in the hierarchy for approval. If the data looks good to the manager, they can approve it. This is a very unique feature that we get. The approval process is a back-and-forth process; it doesn't get finalized in one go. Another feature is the business rules, where we can give users the flexibility to run calculations on demand. We can set runtime prompts for them, so they can run the calculation for whichever year or factors they want. They just need to know the value they want. Everything else can be set up by the admins. These are the flexibilities that we can give the user.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Anaplan provides 130 GB of cloud storage for organizations to use as part of their license."
"Anaplan is a three-dimensional cloud platform that is good for analyzing data, visualization, integration, terrific for visibility."
"Anaplan's scalability stands out compared to other platforms, especially for scenario planning and what-if analysis."
"You don't need to have a programming language to use Anaplan."
"I am impressed with the tool’s real-time calculations and intuitive interface. The tool’s user interface is the best compared to other software that I have worked with. I also find the tool’s management reporting feature valuable."
"The solution scales well."
"It's simple to use with a lot of functions."
"The best thing is that it's very intuitive and user-friendly. You don't need coding skills to manipulate the platform."
"The customization level is excellent."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud is ad hoc reporting."
"The most valuable feature is the data integration in Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud."
"It gives you an end-to-end solution from integrating data from the source system to reporting. So it's a highly recommended tool."
"The tool improves the organizational budgeting process in several ways. One significant aspect is the extensionable functionality it offers. To illustrate, consider a scenario where a company has factories in Mexico producing Volkswagen and Kentucky producing Ford."
"One of the most valuable features of Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud is the ability to have budgeting, finance, and management running in a single tool."
"I value Oracle's flexibility and customization levels."
"The most valuable features of Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud are the many capabilities it provides."

Cons

"The solution could improve by better dashboards and while entering the form loss and project implementation the ability to use graphical shapes more effectively."
"Anaplan should come up with flexible options to connect to a data warehouse rather than an Anaplan hub."
"The tool needs to work on its integration with MS Excel and MS Word. The tool does not allow data analysis in spreadsheets which is possible on other platforms. I want the solution to be more collaborative to facilitate decision-making in organizations."
"One area of improvement is conditional formatting. It's not very practical, and you need to specify additional formatting."
"The negative is that the higher the flexibility, the higher is the complexity. That can act against you as a negative because it does require a model builder or a coder/developer."
"Anaplan could be improved with a stronger consolidation module."
"Anaplan's workflow component is probably the biggest area for improvement. I'd also like to see Anaplan add an ad hoc reporting tool that allows users to query things. It's going to factor into how you design your data set and your models, but I'd like the ability to create ad hoc queries against the data that's in there."
"There are so many business rules to set up in the system that as a business user it's hard to gauge what they're doing and it's possible to get lost."
"Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud could improve by creating a more visual and user-friendly interface similar to the old ABC analytics."
"Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud could improve by having better integration with some other modules that we would add to this solution."
"For HR, the workforce planning out of the box is complicated. For most users, it's not easy, and it requires a learning curve. It's not very user-friendly. It can be improved."
"Oracle initially forced HFM users to migrate to FCCS, which was difficult because moving applications wasn't easy."
"One potential improvement would be a more visual workflow, as the current method using a tax list is not as effective."
"Oracle made a mistake by forcing HFM users to transition to FCCS before the solution was mature enough."
"The tool's interface is outdated. However, OneStream is easier to navigate."
"There is middleware that we need to purchase for our use case that should be provided in Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud. We should not have to purchase the additional solution and the integration should be seamless."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This is a yearly subscription. So a customer initially buys a workspace and specifies how much GB they want. The minimum starts at around 30 GB. You can buy multiple workspaces."
"The cost of Anaplan is a challenge for clients, especially if they don't have an ongoing long-term use case for it. It's a $50,000 licensing fee just to get started. Clients need a strong business case to switch from Excel to Anaplan. But if clients have used something similar in the past, such as Hyperion or other solutions, that's not a factor because they know what to expect."
"This is an expensive product and if the price were reduced then it would attract more customers."
"The tool’s pricing is reasonable and competitive with other solutions."
"The license is a yearly subscription. There are three licensing tiers: the model builder, planner, and the reporting."
"Anaplan is a bit pricier compared to its competitors - the license costs about $4,000 per user annually."
"The price of the solution is expensive."
"The entry-level is anywhere from about $30,000 to $50,000 a year, however, it does go up significantly after that depending on the complexity and how much space you're using."
"It is expensive."
"There is an annual subscription for this solution and it is priced high."
"The price of Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud is expensive. However, it solves a lot of issues at the company. Having a better price could make us think about using more cloud products for Oracle and increase usage."
"The solution is free."
